Welcome to a Tuesday edition of Glenn Clark Radio, lots to cover on a busy program, obviously we'll look over the Orioles loss last night in Boston where they were rather non-competitive, try to diagnose their issues, what hope they have as they hit the field again tonight with Albert Suarez on the mound. We'll switch gears to talk NFL officiating with former NFL Referee Mike Pereira, talk about all the illegal formation calls we're seeing, why the Ravens were so heavily penalized, see how he's doing health-wise and much more. At 10:30am, we will catch up with Orioles Vice President of Public Affairs, Kerry Watson, to talk about the O's final homestand of the season next week and why you need to make it out to the ballpark one last time before October. At 10:50am, we will chat with screenwriter and director, David Mickey Evans, the writer of “The Sandlot”, as we take some time to remember James Earl Jones, the impact he had on sports and pop culture as a whole. Then at 11:10am, PressBox Fantasy Football Analyst, Joe Serpico, to help us preview Waiver-Wire Wednesday and tell who we need to be picking up to win our matchups this weekend. And at 11:35am we'll be joined by special guest Ali von Paris, from Route One Apparel in studio as we talk to her more about the brand that everyone knows and loves and what to keep an eye on the horizon for with R1A…

If you grew up in the nineties, you undoubtedly grew up a massive fan of The Sandlot. A coming-of-age story centering around a group of baseball-loving kids who hang out every day in a Sandlot, the movie didn't make much of a peep in theatres back in 1993. However, the box office didn't tell the whole story, with the movie becoming a cult film on VHS, cable and later DVD, with writer-director David Mickey Evans eventually returning to make a DTV spin-off, The Sandlot 2, while a prequel is still in development. But what happened to all of the kids in The Sandlot? Unlike a movie like Stand by Me, there were no megastars like River Phoenix to emerge, but the cast still fared well in the years to come. Many have gone on to everyday lives, while others continue to work (successfully) in showbiz almost 30 years later. In this special episode of WTF Happened to this Celebrity, we catch up with The Sandlot kids, including Patrick Renna (Ham), Tom Guiry (Smalls), Chauncy Leopardi (Squints), Marty York (Yeah Yeah), Brandon Quintin Adams (Kenny), Mike Vitar (Benjamin) and more! This episode of WTF Happened to this Celebrity is written (with Brad Hamerly), produced, edited and narrated by Taylor James Johnson! Let us know if you have fond memories of The Sandlot in the comments!

076 - This one is a bit of a nostalgia bomb; a 90's movie set in the 60s? That's double dose of nostalgia - and this movie doesn't hold back - it's 1993's The Sandlot. We have been wanting to rewatch this one for.ev.er, and here we are. This is actually one of the smallest movies we have ever covered if you look at box office, but if you look at cultural significance, this thing was HUGE! Even all the way down here in Australia (where it was called The Sandlot Kids). For a lot of us, it's how we heard about s'mores, chewing tobacco and Wendy Peffercorn - and our induction to Baseball Americana. But how does it hold up today? Join us as we investigate.

Get nostalgic about a movie that’s all about nostalgia in the 42nd episode of Scoring At The Movies. The Sandlot takes us back to our own baseballing youth, especially as we both can relate---in some ways, at least---to Scotty Smalls. Those aspects are what make us, and many other people, feel like this movie is better than it probably is. The creepy Squints/Wendy angle though? Yipes. Not so good. But this is a movie about tall tales, so maybe we can pretend what Squints does is just a big exaggeration? Well, our conversation about the “Endless Practice” movie is not a tall tale at all, so sit down and let James Earl Jones regale you with baseball stories as long as you love his dog. It’s a win win!Pedantry Alert: This movie doesn’t actually seem to be based on a book, as Chris implies. Also, David Mickey Evans is working on a prequel to this movie, not another sequel. Also also, Stan Musial was actually still playing when this movie is set (1962) and Ted Williams had retired just a few years before. We like to be contacted: @moviefiend51 and @scoringatmoviesOur website: scoringatthemovies.podbean.com
On this special episode of Piecing It Together, I got the opportunity to interview Scott Evans, an author and inventor who also happens to be the guy who was the real kid that went over that wall to retrieve a baseball from a vicious dog named Hercules in the classic family film The Sandlot. We have a great conversation about his book and the movies that inspired and were inspired by The Sandlot The post The Sandlot – Scott Evans Interview (Special Episode) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.

With RADIO FLYER and THE SANDLOT, writer / director David Mickey Evans combined childhood magic with real world trauma for the first time since the 60s era cinema of Francois Truffaut. In the process he broke the mold of cliched cuteness inherent in movies and series such as HOME ALONE and THE COSBY SHOW, and helped usher in an era of more "gritty" big screen family fare by others; titles such as MRS. DOUBTFIRE and even CASPER for the first time broaching topics such as divorce, absentee parents, the death of loved ones and more. Craig Jamison & Jim Delaney invite us into an alternately hilarious and heart-breakingly inspirational sit-down with Evans - discussing the creation of THE SANDLOT and RADIO FLYER, his 2007 buried treasure,THE FINAL SEASON,, his upcoming biopic on high school football coach Ed Thomas, and much more.GUESTS: Internationally renowned composer / musician Martin Tillman; the podcast troupe "We Found Microphones" on Netflix's JESSICA JONES.Rights to film / TV clips and other audio excerpts held by copyright owners. Today we sit down with David Mickey Evans, the director of the family favorite film: THE SANDLOT. We talk about David's early love of Baseball and cinema and the steps he took along the way to make The Sandlot the classic that it is today! We also talk about how to be a writer, director and MORE!
There's something about memories of childhood and baseball that seem to go hand in hand. Perhaps it's the tradition of baseball — it feels as tied into good ol' Americana as much as fireworks on the Fourth of July or hot apple pie, things that can certainly define childhood memories. Perhaps it's just that it was one of those things you did as a kid that helped shape who you would become. Regardless, David Mickey Evans tapped into this connection for 1993's The Sandlot, his directorial debut, and ended up creating a cult favorite that will stand the test of time because of it. This week, join us — Pete Wright and Andy Nelson — as we wrap up our current baseball series with this fantastic movie that tells a simple childhood baseball story yet seduces the audience into reconnecting with their own childhood. We talk about the nature of this story and how its episodic coming-of-age nature connects it to other great films like A Christmas Story and Stand By Me. We chat about the great cast and how these Sandlot kids really work well together as a group of friends. We discuss how the film really does seduce you, as Roger Ebert said in his review, "with its memories of what really matters when you are 12." And we hit on the interesting and opposing views of baseball that this film and our last film in this series, Moneyball, take. It's a very easy and enjoyable film to watch and we have a great time talking about it. Tune in!
