2016 was a turning point in the world of the X-Men movies. After the big success of 2014's X-Men: Days Of Future Past, 20th Century Fox spent big on X-Men: Apocalypse, and big things were expected of it. On the other hand, it had taken a gamble with a different X-Men-related project, Deadpool. Things would not go the way that the studio had originally expected. The story of Scent Of A Woman meanwhile is wrapped up in the push for Al Pacino to finally get an Oscar, after several unsuccessful nominations. Not bad, for a film that originally had Jack Nicholson in line for the lead role... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

"WE NEED YOU TO HOPE AGAIN." After the success of First Class, Matthew Vaughn and Fox reached an impasse in regards to adapting one of the most iconic X-Men stories of all time: Days of Future Past. While he wanted to wait and do it in the third movie, Fox wanted to fast-track it for the second, resulting in him walking. Sure enough, as they wanted, the movie got made -- to mass acclaim and success. This movie was arguably Endgame before Endgame, a culmination of two eras that many -- to this day -- argue should've been the end of Fox's run of X-Men films. Well, ten whole years later (god, I hate saying that), how does it hold up? Come join Brian and Alec to find out as they continue the X-MENATHON by revisiting what many consider to be the Children of the Atom's best film -- X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST!
After the death of Spock, the crew of the Enterprise return to Earth to find they are being reassigned, and the Enterprise retired! Admiral Kirk soon learns that Spock could still be alive through his essence being saved inside the mind of Dr. McCoy & he devises a plan to steal the Enterprise & return to Genisis to save his friend. There he finds the ruthless Klingon warrior Kruge who wants the Genisis Device for himself. Kirk & the crew must outsmart Krudge, save themselves and rescue the reborn Spock from the dying planet below! The classic sequel celebrates its 40th Anniversary as we look back at Star Trek III The Search For Spock. We also discuss Star Wars: The Acolyte, talk a bit about Matt's vacation trip, and some news bits you may have missed. Yup we had to do it, since today is Halloween and you'll see plenty of weird slightly racist costumes we decided to revisit our Top Tokens In Science Fiction list and do a show about it. Not that Top Tokens In Science Fiction is all we talk about, we also stir up the age old debate of Xbox vs PS, why I still haven't seen 12 Years A Slave, and catch up on the X-Men: Days Of Future Past trailers. Hopefully they don't murder the one black dude first this time out. Happy Halloween from the FanBros, now kick back with the Top Tokens In Science Fiction episode and be good to each other.
In which The Off-Panelists come right out with it and get burned, pledge to be boring and take a horrifying tour around Glasgow, where ginger imps roam the land. After a disparaging look into eachother's dark side, join the Sloth, the Scotsman, and the Spaniard as they look into a myriad of the week's offerings, including the conclusion to Geoff Johns' nine year run on Green Lantern, a bizarre little diversion in the pages of Batman Incorporated, the new origin for a character in Justice League that made one podcaster squeal in delight, and question the legitimacy of the latest threat in Daredevil. Following the lightning round, they turn their attention towards the week's news, including a late addition to the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past that may spell trouble for Marvel's Avengers sequel and trailer reactions to Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Wait, who literally set someone on fire?! Download Here!
