Enough is Enough 2 Last week we heard from an expert in making the internet safe for your family. She said, “Let me just share the story of John Doe who was a convicted sex offender in a high-security prison. I talked to him for three hours. He would look for kids online that he was interested in. He was talking to a 13-year-old girl. That 13-year-old girl liked boys who were around 15 and played soccer. He would find pictures of boys that looked like that and he would send it and pretend to be that boy and engage that girl. Often times these lead to sexual encounters and situations where he would get nudes of them and back and forth and then used [those same pictures] to keep that child silent.” Donna Rice Hughes is the CEO and president of Enough is Enough. Discussing the Internet with Donna Rice Hughes Donna Rice Hughes works hard to protect our children from internet predators. She is the President and CEO of Enough is Enough and also is an internationally known internet safety expert, author, speaker, and producer. Donna's vision, expertise, and advocacy have helped to birth the internet safety movement in America at the advent of the digital age. For 30 years Donna has been working hard to make the internet safe for your kids and family. She has developed and spearheaded the National Safe Wifi Campaign which is calling on corporate America to filter pornography and child sex abuse images off of public wifi. As a result of these efforts, two major companies that own stores all across America are now filtering wifi in their stores. Episode Highlights: How did the internet help close the gap between boys and girls and pornography use? What dangers are girls more prone to over the internet than boys? What percentage of 8-12-year-olds are using social media (regardless of “age restrictions")? How many pro-eating disorder accounts does Instagram have? What is the most important thing that Christian parents need to do about this issue? Image from Canva

Today's porn can lead to sex trafficking and many other corrupt forms of brokenness. On this edition of Family Talk, Dr. Tim Clinton interviews Donna Rice Hughes, president and CEO of Enough is Enough. With a mission to protect children and empower moms and dads, she urges parents to become cyber savvy by using Internet filters, regular monitoring, and using time-limiting tools. Donna Rice Hughes, founder of enough.org and long-time warrior hero against poronography and child sexual exploitation, joins Bob Enyart to discuss the indictment of Netflix for child sexual exploitation by a Texas grand jury for their distribution of "Cuties", a film that sexually exploits children under the guise of exposing such exploitation. As the president of Enough is Enough Donna provides tools for families at internetsafety101.org, she encourages us to sign their petition at enough.org/teenvogue, and invites all of us to jointhefast.org. Bob presented the idea to Donna that not only child, "obscene", and "deviant" pornography should be illlegal but that all sex trafficking, that is, all marketing of human sexual behavior should be recriminalized and that so-called "soft porn" is more addicting than hardcore porn. That is, if the U.S. had commissioners watching pornography and rejecting the "obscene" pornography and only permitting "legal" pornography, America would have even more people addicted than it does today. This is not an argument to permit obscenity but to refocus Christians on the heart of the matter, to recriminalize all trafficking in human sexual behavior. Today's Resource: The ACLU Debate Bob squares off against the Executive Director of the Colorado ACLU, Jim Joy in a televised debate on a Denver PBS station. Watch as joyless Jim hesitantly admits to the ACLUs support for the sale of child pornography. And which of the two opponents do you suppose will better know (or admit) the ACLUs own role regarding Jack "The Dripper" Kevorkian and his killing of sick people? Ultimately, the two men debate who is most qualified to govern, pagans, or biblical Christians. Another must see video!

Some of society's problems are just so upsetting that it's hard to imagine that they continue to exist, or in fact, are spreading. Well, this episode explores one of the worst: Internet child pornography and sex trafficking. Internet pornography been called the largest unregulated social experiment in history. Ushered it into the cultural mainstream, it enjoys increasingly widespread acceptance. But while it's well known that the internet has been hijacked by the sex industry, what's less understood is that it provides children free and easy access to all types of pornography, and sexual predators' easy and anonymous access to children. “Much of the content that is out there is hardcore, it's extreme. Kids under 10 years old are getting hooked on it, addicted to it. And it's free. It's mostly prosecutable under U.S. law. But it's not being prosecuted. Then you've got sex trafficking, which is one of the largest organized crime businesses in the United States,” says Donna Rice Hughes, CEO of Enough Is Enough. The New York Times reports that last year, tech companies reported over 45 million online photos and videos of children being sexually abused — more than double what they found the previous year. Smartphone cameras, social media and cloud storage have allowed the images to multiply at an alarming rate. “It's a profound problem for society. Yet, it's such a difficult topic. No one really wants to talk about it,” explains Colby May, Senior Counsel and Director of the Washington Office of the American Center for Law and Justice. Dedicated to promoting child dignity in the digital world, Enough is Enough, raises public awareness about the harms of Internet pornography, sexual predators, cyberbullying, sex trafficking and other dangers. Join me as Donna and Colby describe this very troubling world.
