When things get tough, are you able to eventually step back to see the bigger picture? Granger Smith shares how he's had to learn to do that in his life and how his first acting role was portraying a character (Will Brown) that was needed to do the same (in time, learn how to see the good that could come from pain!)  The movie ‘Moonrise' came out a couple of weeks ago on PureFlix and is such a powerful story: “After country singer Will Brown's wife passes away, his grief sidelines his career and pushes him away from his young daughter until a bright and talented horse trainer shows him strength, forgiveness and grace to live life again.”    In addition to playing the main character, Granger wrote all of the songs that accompany the movie. Granger took on this entire project because the script spoke to him, as the main character experiences tragedy and hardships, parallel to his own life!   Granger also does '4 Things Gratitude' with Amy by sharing a book + a tv show + a drink + an Instagram follow that he's currently thankful for!   Link to 'Moonrise' on PureFlix: https://www.pureflix.com/movie/moonrise    For more Granger: https://www.grangersmith.com & @GrangerSmith on Instagram Best places to find more about Amy: RadioAmy.com + @RadioAmySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Consider this premise. Angels are among us and God has sent them on a mission to intercede on behalf of whispered prayers. Every encounter presents a new opportunity to change your approach to life. If we are all honest, everyone has considered the notion from time to time that there are no chance meetings or coincidences in life. Perhaps it is the friend who has an expertise in a certain area who has offered to help you with a very specific problem without being asked. Or maybe, you have been praying desperately for a serious situation to resolve itself when the solution suddenly reveals itself out of the blue. Or was it out of the blue? There's a lesson for everyone in the new Pure Flix television series “Saved by Grace", a program that explores different seasons of life and how our reactions and actions can ultimately change the path we are on. Our guest today, Cameron Arnett, is the star of “Saved by Grace", and believes that we can heal from and overcome the past and that change in our hearts makes it possible to move forward.  He knows this first hand as he has encountered similar circumstances in his life where it was very clear that God's providence had a hand in the outcome. In fact, he is a strong believer that day to day interactions can have a great impact on us, even if we don't realize it.Arnett joins us on the Crossmap Podcast to talk about the concept of there being no chance meetings or coincidences in life. Some people do not start off as great right off the bat while others could get success initially but get failures later on. The point is to learn from this.Whether you are doing comedy, public speaking or a presentation, you should always be prepared for what you are talking about. You should practice to a point that you come off as authentic and unscripted to your audience. You need to know your material so well that you can go off on a tangent ans still stay on track. Nothing does well if you are not prepared for it.Always learn, watch and grow while you are working with people that are in positions that you want to be in. You can learn from your peer's achievements and failures.Always take time to reflect on your life. Celebrate the wins and achievements that you have made while appreciating the growth. Looking back on where you have been also helps to direct where you want to go in the future.Remember to control what you can and let go of what you can't.If you have certain dreams or aspirations that are unfulfilled, you will regret it. Don't leave them at the table, instead go out and try it. Win or lose, the point is to try.

Bring bookmarks with spiritual messages to community Christmas activities and allow your kids to offer them to those who will receive them. Play storytelling games with your kids to spark their imagination about the Christmas story. Participate with your kids in Christ-centered craft activities at art centers. Encourage your kids to use their talents and gifts to share hope and joy at Christmas. Include Christ-honoring elements in your home decor. Hang an extra stocking for a child in need and invite your kids to deliver the gifts with you to the organization or neighbor. Encourage kids to use sticky notes to post their favorite verses on the mirror or near their bed. Include inspirational elements in playtime with your kids. Choose a local food pantry and allow your kids to participate in sharing with those in need. Consider making these charitable opportunities personal and relational. The aforementioned song lyrics serve as the chorus for a song that has become synonymous with finding strength, perseverance, and the ability to move forward despite a past that is sometimes unforgiving. That highly popular tune is “I Will Survive”, a song that has literally defined the career of Gloria Gaynor. The 1978 single topped Billboard's disco and pop charts, went platinum, and won Best Disco Recording the only year the Grammy's recognized the sub-genre.Despite achieving global stardom for this song, Gaynor has forged a career of nearly 50 years and has subsequently delivered hit songs on the charts in four consecutive decades. Now 79 years old, Gaynor has recently added actress to her accolade-filled resume. She currently stars in a faith-based Christmas movie from Pure Flix called “The Thursday Night Club”. Episode Summary:  Lee Ann Mancini and I talk about raising children to have a strong foundation in Jesus. It's her passion to equip parents with valuable resources so they can raise their children to have a strong foundation in Jesus—the only foundation that will last. This is such an important topic given the world we live in and the influences our children are under. We talk about how to help kids with bullying, why forgiveness is important, why kids are walking away from their faith and more. Quotables from the episode: I see how children are walking away from their faith – first priority is the salvation of our children and the preservation of Christianity. Kids are leaving home and being influence by a humanistic perspective from their professors and peers. The enemy of our soul and our children's souls likes to attack at the foundation. We need to give our children spiritual meat, not mild. If our children don't have a solid foundation in Jesus by the age of 10, they are significantly more likely to walk away from their faith. I believe His will for me is to equip all who are raising the next generation to have a strong foundation in Jesus that will last a lifetime. Don't look at the world and have despair – With God's help, we can overcome. God's word tells us the whole narrative, and we only need to walk in faith and spiritual sight. Your kids will reflect the mirror of your character. Our children are our future. We need to rely on the Holy Spirit for their transformation and do all we can to teach them the ways of the Lord. One of the most important things we can teach our children is how to forgive each other. Play is the highest form of science and education for our children. Make today the day that you decide what is most important for raising our children to have a strong foundation in Jesus.  Scripture References: Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NIV: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Psalm 78:5-6 NIV: He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Psalm 51:6 NIV: Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place. Pursuing Things For God Without Holding Back Truth with Billy HallowellWe are living in a "filter bubble," an era with too much information, but it is our responsibility to be in search of truth. Almost everyone can get into media and create an impact, but it is easy to get jaded by all the information out there. As Christians recognizing that we have different outlets and being authentic in our message without withholding our truth is key. Although, we all have opinions and perspectives, most of us don't hold onto our truth enough, especially when we feel something is weird and want to exclude it from our conversations out of fear of how we will be perceived if we talk about it.  “We need to talk about it all from a Christian lens and provide a resolution. We're called to the truth, and it should always be the baseline for everything we do, whether it's on social media, podcasting, blogging, or working in a media company” - Billy Hallowell. Join the conversation with Billy Hallowell as he shares how he got involved in journalism, the struggle of wanting to pursue things for God but becoming distracted by pursuing things for himself, and how talking about taboo and difficult topics gives an opening to speak and give life into someone else's. Billy is a journalist, commentator, and digital TV host who has covered thousands of the biggest faith and culture stories. He has written over 14,000 stories on faith, culture, and politics, interviewed hundreds of celebrities, authors, and influencers, and is the author of four books. He is currently a journalist and host with CBN News and Faithwire and was formerly the director of content and communications at Pure Flix and the former faith and culture editor at TheBlaze.
