In his long and varied career, Snejbjerg established himself as a prolific artist for DC Comics' Vertigo imprint working with bestselling writers such as Neil Gaiman and Garth Ennis, before moving on to DC Universe titles like Starman and JSA, and horror titles including the Hellboy-spinoff, BPRD for Dark Horse. Together with Peter J. Tomasi, he created the supernatural war story The Light Brigade. Snejbjerg has also illustrated a number of children's books showcasing his trademark blend of dark humor and horror. Halloween is almost upon us, and Earth's Mightiest Critics are passing out treats early with a live round table review of Hellboy: The Crooked Man!Crank co-director Brian Taylor enters the franchise with a flashback installment, which finds our big, bad BPRD brawler investigating small-town witch phenomena in the 1950s. The film's trailer raised eyebrows earlier this year, perceived as a low-budget departure from Guillermo del Toro's brilliant early 2000's adaptations of the Mike Mignola comics. When it was announced that the movie would go direct-to-streaming, the "skippable" stench became even stronger. But the EMC aren't afraid of a challenge, and this Wednesday we'll debate the merits and missteps of a film that has actually begun to amass a cult of admirers. Will some of the panelists join in?Join us for a look at how The Crooked Man stands up to the comics, its big-screen predecessors (including that execrable David Harbour relaunch), and supernatural action movies in general. We'll also take your questions, comments, and SuperChats!Bonus! Directed by Brian Taylor from a script he wrote with Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden, Hellboy: The Crooked Man is the superhero horror film based on the Dark Horse Comics character Hellboy, created by Mignola, which adapts The Crooked Man limited series also written by Mignola. It is the second reboot of the Hellboy film series and is the fourth live-action entry in the franchise. Hellboy (Jack Kesy) and a rookie BPRD agent (Adeline Rudolph) find themselves stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia. They soon discover a community of witches led by a local devil who has a connection to Hellboy's past.
Próximo programa: Sopapo Oriental - Legend Of The Northern Blade / Tsuyoshi.

Hello and welcome to the Longbox Hunters, a podcast hosted by two longtime friends who adore comics and talking into microphones. Each issue (episode) will cover what our crew has been reading recently before moving on to whatever that edition's topic may be, with plenty of room for discussion, discourse, and even the occasional special guest to keep things fresh. From story arc analysis to character history deep dives and debates over widely contested comic book plot points and hot topics, the Longbox Hunters team covers everything in between all while bringing their trademark wit and enthusiasm that listeners of Nerds Talk Movies know and love! On today's issue, Tristan and Drew are talking about Ultramega. Here's a synopsis for that run, courtesy of Image Comics: "Cosmic plague has spread, transforming everyday people into violent, monstrous kaiju. Only the Ultramega-three individuals imbued with incredible powers-hold the line against this madness. Their battles level cities and leave untold horror in their wake. Now, the final reckoning approaches for the Ultramega...but is this a war they can even win? Fight monsters and stand with humanity in this new Skybound original from the greatest artist of his generation, JAMES HARREN (RUMBLE, BPRD) and Eisner Award-winning colorist DAVE STEWART. Each issue is extra-sized, with a 60-page debut that can barely contain its giant heroes, creatures, and devastation" Other Ways To Find Us TheNerdStash TheNerdStash TheNerdStash “Join Our Team!” Link TNS Network Podcasts Discord (Which is the best way to chat with us) The Latest Episode Of Power Up And Game The Latest Episode Of Nerds Talk Movies The Latest Episode Of Clash At The Stash Our Patreon TNS Network Team Tristan Benns' Linktree Drew Garrison's Linktree Other Links Fight - Hot_Music Pixabay Page (Our Intro And Outro Music) What comic runs or tropes do you want to see Tristan and Drew cover next? Episode 272. We're continuing our ongoing monthly series reading Mike Mignola's Hellboy comics, talking about volumes 4-6 in this episode. Hellboy continues to deal with arcane magic forces trying to use him to summon an apocalypse, as well as the BPRD treating one of his fellow supernatural beings as a disposable tool instead of a teammate. Fed up with being a pawn in someone else's plans, Hellboy goes off to travel the world on his own, but finds it difficult to escape his past, even at the bottom of the ocean.00:00:00 - Intro 00:00:04 - Welcome and banter 00:04:45 - Spoiler free thoughts: Hellboy vol. 4-6 00:17:37 - Housekeeping 00:22:18 - Spoilers!! This co-op Dark Horse comic book inspired game is filled with minis used to explore ever evolving case based maps. Players are investigating cases while fighting their famous foes playing as BPRD members, such as Hellboy, Abe Sapien, and Roger the Homunculus. In this episode the designers discuss how they really captured the feeling of Mike Mignola's world famous comic series. Also, how building in “hooks and levers” into the base game made future expansions possible as well as adding a ton of replayability. They even discuss the “tea-party problem'' where they realized the game shouldn't be more than a 4-player experience because the co-op nature would suffer. This is a great first episode to kick off the third season of Game Design Unboxed! Featuring: James Hewitt & Sophie Williams - Guest Danielle Reynolds - Host

Following on from the optimism of the sixties, the country faced a decade of strikes and power cuts. Luckily for the fans of Melchester Rovers, Roy Race and his loyal time mates provided great moments of glory for their fans, starting with European Cup final win in 1973 in the year that the club celebrated its 50th anniversary. It was the decade in which footballers became real superstars a time when Melchester goalkeeper Charlie Carter had to choose between staying at the club or perusing a burgeoning career as a pop singer. And it was a period when Roy Race truly cemented himself as the heart, soul and brain of the club by taking on the role of player manager. Mind MGMT by Matt Kindt is an exceptional comic in many ways. We discuss those many ways in this episode. We take a pit stop at the Mignolaverse on the way, with some Hellboy and BPRD discussion.- Do you remember the first time you started following a comics creator, rather than a comic title? Sean and Paul's experiences are drastically different, because of the decade they each started reading- Hellboy vs B.P.R.D., which is which? We talk about which stories are great, and the best way to read it.- Rumble is a great John Arcudi book you may have never heard of- How best to read a book like Mind MGMT, and take in all the extra bits- Sometimes burning books is awesome- Deadly Class is pretty crazy, and a good read- Shout out to Brave New World!- Matt Kindt delivers the map, which is a symbol- We remember when Valiant was the Bruce Lee of Comics
The team takes a look back at Hellboy. What ever will they think of the BPRD and their monsters?

Earlier this month the nominees for the 2017 Eisner Awards were announced at the Comic-Con International website, and as Andy and Derek like to do every year, they're devoting a full episode of The Comics Alternative to a discussion of the nominations. On this week's show, the Two Guys give their impressions of the various nominees, both as a whole and on a category-by-category basis, making observations and trying to understand any trends underlying this year's selections. However, Derek and Andy resist the urge to play armchair quarterbacks, so they don't second-guess the six-member panel of judges or focus on what they would have chosen if they had been on the selection committee. As diligent comics scholars, they judicial and discerning in their commentary. At the same time, they don't shy away from pointing out a few inconsistencies and a few head-scratchers when trying to make sense of this year's nominations. You can find a complete list of the 2017 Eisner Award nominees below. So as you listen to this week's episode, please feel free to scroll down and follow along!
