The Texans O-line coach is a former Colts coach who was blamed for their poor O-line performance last season. How will Anthony Richardson perform in his first away game? Houston is missing their two starting safeties, and Richardson has some room to throw the ball on Sunday. Will Matt Gay get any field goal opportunities on Sunday? Buddy Hield is changing his number from 24 to 7. (44:50 - 1:09:12) - Greg Rakestraw is on for his weekly spot to talk High-School, College, and NFL Football. The Colts didn't look great last week according to Rakestraw, but they still looked better than Houston and he is confident that Sunday can be a Colts win. The AFC South is going to be a big passing division this year according to Kevin and Matt. Matt believes the Colts defense is solid this year, they just need to make stops at the red zone. Taylor doesn't explore much in road trips. He just wants to watch college football, call the game, and go home. The Texans last home game victory was week 16 of the 2021 season. Taylor thinks that this game will be a barnburner with the Colts and Texans both displaying a lot of young talent in this game.  (2:00:41 - 2:09:02) - Pop Quiz (2:09:03 - 2:15:36) - NFL picks around the league to close out the show. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Bryan Matthews, Caleb Jones, Henry Patton, Brian Stultz and Jay G. Tate reconvene for a new edition of The Rundown, which focuses on the second week of fall camp — and the scrimmage that (finally) yielded some meaningful data.  Several players have stood out so far this month: Jalen McLeod, Kam Stutts, Jaylin Simpson, Jayson Jones, Damari Alston to name a few. Can some of these guys become stars this fall? Is there a real reason for optimism regarding the overall state of Auburn football? What an insane nine months it's been. Auburn added another commit last week, DE T.J. Lindsey, and retains its No. 3 spot on the Rivals Average Player Rating scale. Not bad at all. Flory Bidunga ended up choosing Kansas last weekend. Is this a sign that Bruce Pearl is losing his grip on recruiting? NOT A CHANCE. The guys offer a multitude of commendations and shout-outs to wrap up the show. The show is presented by VooDoo Wing Company with locations in Auburn, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, Florence, Charlotte and Las Vegas. 00:00 - 26:54) - The Tuesday edition of Kevin & Query gets underway with talk about Jonathan Taylor's contract situation. Multiple NFL runningbacks are aware that their team is not looking to lock them down going forward. Flory Bidunga, one of Indiana's best high-school basketball players in Kokomo announced his top four schools: Auburn, Michigan, Kansas, Duke. Bidunga claims he will still be looking at Indiana schools before committing. Marc tells a temp tattoo story. Jake wants to save farm animals. Martin Truex Jr. won that NASCAR race in Loudon, New Hampshire.  (26:55 - 30:15) - Morning Checkdown  (30:16 - 42:48) - More Jonathan Taylor talk on contact negotiations. A conversation on how other players are treated in contract negotiations and by the press.  (42-49 - 1:08:04) - Courtside Indiana's Jim Reamer joins the program to discuss Flory Bidunga's announcement of his final four schools. Jake has a feeling that his list of schools may not actually be finalized yet, but Reamer believes that the way Bidunga has handled the process so far that it is likely the truth. Bidunga's IU trip might have been cancelled. The conversation changes to NIL and how far of a reach does the concept have in college recruitment now. Reamer states NIL has grown so much it might have branched out of just beeing seen for Division 1 athletes. The positives and negatives of NIL in high-school recruitment now.  (1:08:05 - 1:27:11) - Audio from the Colts veteran mini-camp, Jonathan Taylor speaks on how runningbacks should be viewed in contract negotiations. Taylor clearly still wants to be the featured back on this Colts offense, but the league is so oversaturated that room may no longer be there. Now with so many quarterbacks running as much as they pass do teams not value the runningback as much knowing they have a QB that can pick up the slack as well? Colts are experts at wrapping players up in valuable positions with weird contracts.  (1:27:12 - 1:29:37) - Indiana State Fair ticket give away.   (1:29:38 - 2:03:04) - Bob Kravitz comes on to the show, he just recently experienced a long travel day being stranded in Newark International Airport due to poor weather. Apparently two glasses of wine is $40+ in the airport. Kravitz announces that he is going to begin a Substack service where he writes whatever articles he wants. An extensive conversation about the recent job shake up in the Indianapolis media market. Is Jonathan Taylor becoming antiquated in the NFL? Kravitz believes that Jonathan Taylor would have been a top draft pick and top paid player 20 years ago, but the league has just changed since then. Kickers make a higher yearly salary than runningbacks. The Colts might be willing to just let Jonathan Taylor sit out training camp. Runningbacks across the league are all upset. Is Shaquille Leonard becoming the next Andrew Luck situation with his injury history? (2:03:05 - 2:08:55) - Pop Quiz (2:08:56 - 2:20:00) - Since Indianapolis is in a slow period for professional sports right now, the guys mull over some sports futures bets for the upcoming seasons. Including Anthony Richardson passing yards, Michael Pittman Jr. receiving yards, and Jonathan Taylor rushing yards. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

(00:00 - 29:45) - The Friday edition of Kevin & Query kicks off with a brief recap of the Florida Panthers overtime victory over the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The Stanley Cup Final series now sits at 2-1 in favor of the Golden Knights. Playoff Hockey always seems to make people wish they watched more hockey. College scheduling for football dominates the first segment of the show with discussion on IU and Purdue's schedules now that the Conference Matchups are now a non-factor in scheduling. USC and UCLA will likely have a lot of away fans at their Big-10 Games. Notre Dame has a new Athletic Director and how will he effect their program going forward? (29:46 - 34:18) - Morning Checkdown (34:19 - 47:47) - Dalvin Cook was released from the Minnesota Vikings today, can the Indianapolis Colts use that as some sort of leverage with Jonathan Taylor? How much longer will Taylor be an elite level running back in the NFL and can the team risk slapping a franchise tag on him after his rookie contract expires. Gardner Minshew and Anthony Richardson have been throwing to wide receivers and tight-ends that might not even be on the team come regular season. With the Colts Top-3 wideouts on the sideline these quarterbacks may struggle to get off to a good start. (47:48 - 1:19:15) - Before our guest joins Jake Query mentions that listeners could potentially be his spotter at the August IndyCar/NASCAR double header. Check out his Twitter page to bid on your chance to help him out! Then Greg Rakestraw of the ISC network joins the program to talk about the Indiana-Kentucky Classic happening over the weekend. All-Star high-school basketball players from both states will face off against each other in both boys and girls basketball with this inter-state rivalry contest. Kevin asks Rakestraw to breakdown high school players from Indiana and their potential college landing spots in the coming years. The guys all speculate over Flory Bidunga, the state's top basketball prospect, and what college will be his landing spot. Talk turns to MLS and Lionel Messi's signing to Inter Miami and how that will impact soccer in America.   (1:19:16 - 1:31:57) - Game by game breakdown of IU and Purdue's new football schedule with the Conference matchups now being dissolved. Breakdown of the history of Big Ten Championship matchups and what teams have dominated in their individual era.   (1:31:58 - 1:39:24) - Anniversary of Elvis's last concert at Market Square Arena. Jake reflects on the last fan to ever interact with Elvis Presley, and apparently found the person who had the scarf he threw into the crowd at his last concert. What is the most expensive piece of memorabilia that Kevin & Query own.   (1:39:25 - 2:05:03) - George Bremer, who covers the Indianapolis Colts for The Herald Bulletin in Anderson, Indiana joins the show. He breaks down the Colts current running back situation with Dalvin Cook's release from Minnesota and how that might change what the Colts try to offer Jonathan Taylor. Bremer goes into detail on how both Indiana's quarterbacks in Minshew and Richardson need more time with starting line ups before the regular season and hopefully they will get that exposure in the pre-season. No matter who the Colts select as their starter for Week 1, they still need to have a set of plays designed for each quarterback according to Bremer. Then all three guys shortly speculate on the outcome of the Isaiah Rodgers situation regarding betting on the team and what sort of punishments he may face as well as when. (2:05:04 - 2:19:48) - Pop Quiz (2:19:49 - 2:22:28) - Tri-West High School has a softball commit to Oklahoma, Indiana as a state has a lot of top-ranked softball prospects. Kentucky basketball has too much talent on roster in 2023 for John Calipari to run a short rotation like he normally does. On today's episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe discusses whether or not John Calipari will or should run a shortened bench rotation like he has during his time with the Kentucky Wildcats. You have your players 1-6 locked in - Rob Dillingham, DJ Wagner, Justin Edwards, Aaron Bradshaw, Ugonna Onyenso, Antonio Reeves - but how does Coach Cal utilize Antonio Reeves (if he comes back), Reed Sheppard, Adou Thiero, Lance Ware, etc? If Oscar Tshiebwe and Chris Livingston come back, there's no way Kentucky doesn't have at least a nine-man rotation. If Hunter Dickinson transfers in, UK has to find a backup power forward and then run a long bench. Five-star center Flory Bidunga has recently talked about taking a visit to Kentucky basketball in June. Could he be the next great center for the Wildcats? Lance talks about the strengths of his game - the timing, burst, and aggression on both ends of the floor - but also voices his concerns with Bidunga as a prospect. He's uber talented, but how does his height/lack of legitimate competition translate to the college level? Is he ready to be the next big thing for a college program? April 4, 2023: Kur Teng is the first commitment for MSU's 2024 class. Hailing from New England, Teng is a 6' 4" wing best described as moderately very effective shooter who excels coming off screens as a catch and shoot guy. Other huge positives are his coachability and interest in being in a situation where the coaching staff pushes him. Teng is a consensus top 40 recruit and bodes well for another strong recruiting class for Tom Izzo and the Spartans. We also discussed eight targets for MSU on the class of 2024 including Phat Phat Brooks, Jase Richardson, and Flory Bidunga amongst others. Finally, Eric recounted his crazy trip to the Final Four in Houston. Are you looking for Spartan gear? There's only one place to go to get your MSU T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts — Nudge Printing. Nudge is owned and operated by Gabe and Brittany, two MSU alums. The business is operated out of Michigan and screen prints super high quality products. They also have a large assortment of apparel for other schools as well as stickers for your wall, car, or computer. You can also buy our merchandise to sport around town where all the sales proceeds go to support the show. If you have a home in Michigan you know the importance of clearing water efficiently away from your home off the roof. Unfortunately, the outdoor beauty of Michigan means you have to deal with leaves and debris that pile up in your gutters. Sometimes, those gutters also can't keep up with the rain or leave puddles by your foundation. If you live in the Grand Rapids area (Muskegon to Saugatuck to Rockford to Lowell) contact Kurt Stauffer at the Brothers that Just Do Gutters. (00:00 - 27:43) - It's Friday, Kevin's shirt is back on, and we have some Sweet Sixteen games to recap. Gonzaga and UCLA had an absolute thriller. UCLA launches a huge comeback only to barely fall short against Gonzaga. Julian Strawther shot and hit a game winner in his hometown of Las Vegas. 0 Big Ten teams have made the Sweet Sixteen in the last two tournaments. The Florida Atlantic Owls reach their first Elite Eight in program history. This is Kansas State's third Elite Eight since 2010, but both times prior they lost to a Mid-Major University. Could the same happen with Florida Atlantic? (27:44 - 33:58) - Morning Checkdown (33:59 - 44:51) - Jake will be live at Broad Ripple Tavern doing a Jack Daniels Pop-A-Shot with cash prize potential later today. Jake goes over his first night with the new cat. IU's first player has entered the transfer portal, Logan Duncomb out of Cincinnati will be the first Hoosier to enter the portal this year.   (44:52 - 1:13:49) - Greg Rakestraw of the ISC Sports Network joins the show. Briefly Kevin and Rakestraw touch on Micah Shrewsberry signing on as Notre Dame's head coach. Notre Dame used to have a huge national presence in the basketball world, and it looks like the team is trying to recapture that stature in the collegiate basketball world. Flory Bidunga, originally from the Congo and playing for Kokomo High-School is one the most touted prospects in high-school basketball. While being heavily recruited, Rakestraw believes that Bidunga will still be playing in Kokomo next year and not transfer to a higher ranked high school. The conversation turns more to the specific matchups between NorthWood and Guerin Catholic in 3A basketball, and Ben Davis versus Kokomo in 4A. Ben Davis is looking to accomplish and undefeated championship season.   (1:13:50 - 1:24:44) - More talk on NCAA matchups. Will Princeton be able to continue the Cinderella story? Kevin and Query equate the game to St. Peters upset over Purdue last year. Andrew Nembhard's brother, Ryan, is still playing in the tournament on Creighton.   (1:24:45 - 1:33:02) - Pro-days continue in the NFL and the Colts need to narrow down who they intend to take with the 4th pick in the NFL Draft. A quarterback is still the leading candidate for that pick, and C.J. Stroud, Will Levis, and Bryce Young all were on display yesterday. (1:33:03 - 1:57:58) - Another reminder to join Jake at Broad Ripple Tavern tonight for Pop-A-Shot. The Pacers and Celtics tip off tonight at 7. The blue and gold are in a unique NBA gray area where they could make the playoffs through the play-in, but that would weaken the team's chances at getting a high draft pick. Jalen Hood-Schifino of IU and Zach Edey of Purdue are being thrown around as picks. Cleveland will definitely make the playoffs meaning the Pacers will get their 1st round draft pick in 2024. With Boston's 1st rounder as well, that gives Indiana three total 1st round picks in the upcoming draft. What kind of luck will the Pacers have in the lottery drawing this year? The team certainly has the ability to trade up with the amount of draft stock they already have. (1:57:59 - 2:06:36) - Pop Quiz (2:06:37 - 2:17:40) - The Guerin Catholic head-coach Bobby Allen closes out the program talking about the team's appearance in the IHSAA State Championship tomorrow at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Allen has played and won a state championship as a student, this would be his first championship as a coach. Guerin Catholic had a rough season to start at one point sitting with a 12-8 record. Allen was wondering if the team would even finish the season with a winning record. Allen says the team was able to just buckle down and stay the course. Their rebound on the season and trip to the state finals has coach Allen believing that his team will be able to control the pace on the floor tomorrow and bring home a state championship. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Despite the frustrating loss by the Indiana Hoosiers football team to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, Tom Allen's side still came away with some positives to build on moving forward. Chief among them is the fight shown by Connor Bazelak and the IU offense and Tiawan Mullen and the Hoosier defense in the second half to come back.On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) looks at some of the good things to come out of the loss for IU on Saturday. First, though, is a look at the quotes from Allen at his weekly press conference on Monday as he talked about the team's offensive line woes and slow starts. For all the problems and flaws exposed in Saturday's loss, the Hoosiers' comeback in the second half showcased something the team didn't have last season. Despite the frustrating loss by the Indiana Hoosiers football team to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, Tom Allen's side still came away with some positives to build on moving forward. Chief among them is the fight shown by Connor Bazelak and the IU offense and Tiawan Mullen and the Hoosier defense in the second half to come back. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) looks at some of the good things to come out of the loss for IU on Saturday. First, though, is a look at the quotes from Allen at his weekly press conference on Monday as he talked about the team's offensive line woes and slow starts. For all the problems and flaws exposed in Saturday's loss, the Hoosiers' comeback in the second half showcased something the team didn't have last season. As they continue making spirited comebacks this season, it's worth noting how different that mentality is from last year's team. The show wraps by looking at Peyton Hendershot's performance on Monday Night Football and the controversy it caused. 2024 big man Flory Bidunga is also set to visit IU for Hoosier Hysteria as well, a big get for the Hoosiers.
