We got off-season action! It's only the beginning of June, but this week we saw the first blockbuster of the offseason as the LA Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, and Columbus Blue Jackets pulled off a three-team trade. Jason and Frank started the podcast by breaking down what each team gained in the deal. Was this a true win-win-win? They debated it off the jump today.The teardown is just starting in Philly, which lead to some talk about the future of Carter Hart. Frank says he's really on the trading block while Gregor threw some cold water on one of the rumoured destinations for the Flyers goalie. Frank and Jason are back for another Monday edition of the pod. There was some major news late last week with the Flyers moving on from General Manager Chuck Fletcher. They broke down what led to this firing, where the Flyers go from here, and Frank gave some insight into Danny Briere's chances of being named the full-time General Manager.They also talked about what's expected to be tabled at this week's GM meetings down in Florida. This week on TABLE TALK, Matthew DiBiase, author of the book, “The Art of the Dealers: The NHL's Greatest General Managers,” joined Jeff for a discussion about the history of the Flyers general managers. When talking about the Flyers GM history, of course we began the conversation about arguably the greatest of all time, Keith Allen, and how he was an innovator and pioneer for much of what we see today with hockey analytics. From there, we dove into Bobby Clarke's tenure as GM and whether or not it's a true benefit for teams' front offices to hire former hockey players as the top guy. Paul Holmgren was certain a GM we discussed in detail, which was very interesting. Lastly, Matthew gave his perspective on how Ron Hextall faring as the current Flyers GM.
