Join Pastor Stuart for the ninth and final lesson in our series, Head Full of Doubt, where we seek to answer the question, "What do we do with doubt?" Today, we turn again to the Gospel According to John 14:1-6, to see that we all need . . . "Jesus: the Way, the Truth, the Life". In this lesson, we learn: Whether we are wrestling with doubt or not, this fact remains: we all need Jesus. Jesus is the only way to have a right relationship with the God who created us. Jesus is the truest truth about God. Jesus is life itself. Knowing and abiding in Jesus is more important than anything else. So let's find our all in Jesus because he is our all. Join Pastor Stuart for the eight lesson in our series, Head Full of Doubt, where we seek to answer the question, "What do we do with doubt?" Today, we turn to the Gospel According to John 20:24-29, to learn about . . . "Confronting and Conquering Our Unbelief". In this lesson, we learn: Jesus can confront and even conquer our unbelief. When true belief is present, we cry out to Jesus, “My Lord and my God!” When we believe in Christ, even without seeing him, we are promised blessing. So, don't succumb to unbelief, but instead believe all that the Scriptures say about Jesus. You can learn more about Westminster Presbyterian Church at https://www.westminsterpca.net. In this episode, I'm joined by Irish writer Sarah Maria Griffin to talk about the four books that have most shaped her creative journey – from early influences to enduring literary obsessions. It's a fantastic conversation, ending with her newest work, Eat The Ones You Love, a bold and visceral work of feminist horror. In the episode we talk about writing as transformation, the power and joy of horror, and what it means to create with teeth.Sarah Maria Griffin's four books were:Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (1986)Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy (1990)Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay (2015)House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski (2000)Lit with Charles loves reviews. Join Pastor Stuart for the seventh lesson in our series, Head Full of Doubt, where we seek to answer the question, "What do we do with doubt?" Today, we turn to the Gospel According to Mark 9:14-29, to hear a father's cry, . . . "I Believe; Help My Unbelief! ". In this lesson, we learn: Contrary to what we may think, we can experience both belief and unbelief simultaneously. Nevertheless, we are moving toward either deepening faith or distrust. Whatever direction we are moving, we need Jesus. Whenever we sense any unbelief within us, let's cry out to Jesus for the help we need. Join Pastor Stuart for the sixth lesson in our series, Head Full of Doubt, where we seek to answer the question, "What do we do with doubt?" Today, we turn to Psalm 22 to find the psalmist . . . "Asking God 'Why?'". In this lesson, we learn: Asking God “Why?” is not necessarily doubt or sin. The “why” of suspicion questions God's character or wisdom. The “why” of curiosity desires to learn. The “why” of bewildered belief trusts God but admits confusion and ignorance. The “why” of anguish expresses our pain and agony to God. The type of “why” we ask demonstrates what's going on in our heart. No matter what type of “why” is in our heart, it is good for us to bring our questions to God. Working through our questions with God helps lead us from why to worship. We can do all this boldly because of Jesus. So, whatever “whys” we're wrestling with, let's take them to our heavenly Father through Jesus. You can learn more about Westminster Presbyterian Church at https://www.westminsterpca.net. So, let's trust in the Lord and sing with joy the salvation of Jesus. You can learn more about Westminster Presbyterian Church at https://www.westminsterpca.net. As peças apresentam cenas vibrantes, retratando tanto a vida rural quanto as festas e celebrações populares.

Join Pastor Stuart as for the third lesson in our series, Head Full of Doubt, where we seek to answer the question, "What do we do with doubt?" In this lesson, we turn to Jude 20-23 to hear about . . . "Mercy to Those Who Doubt". In this lesson, we learn: Because God has shown us mercy in Christ Jesus, we show mercy . . . even to those who doubt. We show mercy to people who doubt in several ways: We don't judge or condemn them. We show kindness, compassion, and care. We listen. We help them process their doubts. We encourage them not to give up on Jesus. So, by the work of the Spirit, let's grow in showing the mercy of Christ to those who doubt. In this second lesson, we turn to James 1:5-8 to hear about . . . "The Heart of Doubt". In this lesson, we learn: The heart of doubt is uncertainty. Doubt wavers between belief and unbelief which leads us to be double-minded. A divided mind lacks stability. Jesus is the answer to our uncertain and double-minded instability. So, let's keep going to Jesus to increase our faith. You can learn more about Westminster Presbyterian Church at https://www.westminsterpca.net. Such an iconic line from one of my favorite horror movies, but it's not every day that you can ask this question to an award-winning horror writer! I first ask Paul about his 2018 novel The Cabin at the End of the World which was adapted by M. Night Shyamalan into Knock at the Cabin (featuring Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Rupert Grint). He answers all of my adaptation questions including what he thought of M. Night Shyamalan changing some of his major plot points. He explains why it was so important for him to explore queer trauma in this novel and why he's always preferred psychological horror over slasher films. I then ask Paul all about his new novel Horror Movie which is a chilling twist on the "cursed film genre." Paul explains the inspiration for his book including the multiple meanings of cursed films! He explains how he lets his subconscious guide his stories and why he loves to write about his obsessions. Then, he provides really helpful advice for aspiring writers and why the horror community is such a welcoming and supportive space for creative people! Then, Paul plays a horror movie game with me and reveals his favorite horror films from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. And Paul gives a hint regarding whether Horror Movie will be adapted into a film! Have you every felt lost, stuck or not happy with your life? Maybe you feel not happy with your job, relationship, or the city you live in... Every year I honor the day I broke my chains, went against social norms, embraced who I wanted to become, closed my ears to all those toxic people, and only listened to my soul. The day I moved to the U.S.A.: June 23, 2016. And today it marks 8 years! On the day I moved, I only had so many crazy dreams in my heart and nothing else. I sat down on a plane, put a song into my ears by Coldplay “A head full of dreams”, and made my way to Los Angeles, California. I honor myself and celebrate my soul. I lost friends over this success. I lost sleep and got lost many times along the way, but I found myself stronger each time. I heard so many negative stories from even the closest people in my life. Very few supported and believed in me; the rest are either ashamed now or more judgmental. Not care either way anyway. ;) A short reminder of who I am and what I do: I work professionally with entrepreneurs, speakers, and coaches to create their authentic brands and achieve their business goals. I also work with individuals who feel lost in social norms, careers, relationships, or in what they want in life. Together, we co-create a life they feel belongs to them and, most importantly, one in which they feel fulfilled. If you are one of these people, I'm here to lift you up and hold your hand to success, whether by creating your authentic brand or unlocking your authentic self to build a life you feel you belong to! Cheers to YOU and the new week! Don't forget to subscribe to my channel to stay inspired. Here are my other platforms you can check it out to stay connected with me:

A fun day of snowboarding for 18-year-old Forrest Allen ended in a life-threatening traumatic brain injury, which forever altered his life and that of his family and friends. Neurologists told his well-known parents, veterinarians, Kent Allen and Rae Stone, cofounder of Dolphin Quest, that he would likely not survive the night. Despite that dire warning, Forrest did indeed survive but not without surgeons having to remove 1/3 of his skull which resulted in its own set of complications and life threats. Throughout years of surgeries, setbacks, and rehabilitation therapies the family has been open about the highs and frightening lows of their journey including the vital role of supportive friends and colleagues within the zoological community, music therapy, and a wonderful service dog that helped Forrest regain his speech. Much of Forrest's recovery through music was documented in the 2020 award winning film "Music Got Me Here." Now, at 31, Forrest is rebuilding his life working summers with the Dolphin Quest teams, getting his driver's license, and serving as an inspiration to other families with loved ones experiencing terrible, debilitating brain injuries. So we have come to the last of our horror genre shows…although we have decided we like the moniker 'dark literature' better. We have a game-changing author to end it with (in time for Halloween): Paul Tremblay. If you read ‘dark literature' and you haven't devoured A Head Full of Ghosts on a dark and stormy night, RUN, do not walk, to your nearest independent bookstore. But Kate has read seven of his books (so far) and has not been disappointed in a single one. We also talk to horror writer and Professor Michael Arnzen of Seton Hill University about the courses he teaches in the dark art of writing what scares us. We hope you have enjoyed our ‘dark literature' series….we might dip back from time to time. Happy Halloween. One club welcomes another on the latest installment of The Losers' Club's On Writers series. This week, Losers Randall Colburn and Mel Kassel chat with acclaimed novelist Paul G. Tremblay about last year's The Pallbearers Club. Tremblay unpacks his careful approach to ambiguity and the necessity he feels to earn his experiments with narrative. He also discusses A Knock at the Cabin, the M. Night Shyamalan-directed adaptation of his Bram Stoker Award-winning novel The Cabin at the End of the World, and his experience as a novelist in Hollywood. He also teases his next novel, which centers around a “cursed” film production, and offers an update on the long-gestating film adaptation of his 2015 breakout A Head Full of Ghosts. And, yes, Stephen King is discussed.Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
