A Spiritual church? Holy Spirituality: All about Jesus (v. 1-3) Holy Spirituality: All of God's grace (v. 4-6) Holy Spirituality: Diverse gifts, united purpose (v. 7-11) A Holy Spirit Church
Having first assured us of our status as children of God, the Holy Spirit guides and equips the Church if we are willing. Through Stephen's testimony in Acts 7 and Jesus's conversation with Nicodemus in John 3, Al looks at what it is to be guided and equipped by the Spirit, and encourages us to eagerly seek more of Him.
For centuries people have been reciting The Apostles' Creed. They have repeated it, sang lines of it in songs, and even memorized it. But what does it all mean and who was it actually written for? Over the next several weeks we will be talking through The Apostles' Creed line by line, checking its historical accuracy, looking at what it means, both for our lives today and the eternity to come. Today Pastor Jeff is talking about who the Holy Spirit is, the Church, and the second coming of Jesus. You won't want to miss it.

Kicking things off this past weekend, it was a rather monumental weekend for our local Church, as the Synod Assembly met at Cretin-Durham Hall, Holy Spirit Church, and the Cathedral. We've got the post-Assembly wrap-up for you, headed up by Maria Wiering of The Catholic Spirit. First up, there's an excerpt from the homily that Archbishop Hebda gave at the Pentecost Vigil Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Next, Maria caught a brief moment for some responses from Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Williams and Father Joseph Bambenek, Assistant Director of the Synod. Finally in our wrap-up of the Synod Assembly, Archbishop Hebda shared some of his reactions to the Assembly with Maria.

While doing ministry in California, John interviews Fr. Brendan McGuire, pastor of Holy Spirit Church and School in the Diocese of San Jose. John and Fr. Brendan discuss the topic, "From here to eternity," on this Palm Sunday edition of Living Real Radio.
Preaching: Mike RothIn the early church, the Apostles' Creed was used as a catechism for those who were baptized. Thus, its language was central to Christian imagination. Throughout Lent, our Animating Images sermon series intends to recapture ancient Christian imagination by engaging the Apostles' Creed. However, rather than using the creed to explicate faith, this series will invite us to ponder creedal statements as icons that animate our lives by Divine Love.Pearl Church exists to express a sacred story and to extend a common table that animate life by love. A primary expression of our sacred story is the weekly sermon. If our sermons inspire you to ponder the sacred, to consider the mystery and love of God, and to live bountifully, would you consider supporting our work? You can donate easily and securely at our website: pearlchurch.org. Thank you for partnering with us in expressing this sacred story.
As we wrap up our message series on what it means to be a devoted follower of Jesus and a church devoted to the Gospel — especially in a time of disruption like COVID — we conclude by looking at the parting words of Jesus to the disciples: “‘As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.' Then he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.'” On the day of Jesus' resurrection, the disciples were huddled in fear of the Jewish leaders. In the midst of their fear and how they thought everything had changed, Jesus appeared to them to reassure them that everything was in keeping with the Father's plan — they were to continue his ministry. But to do so, they would now need to receive and rely upon the Holy Spirit.
Student Leadership University's mission is to develop and equip student leaders to think, dream, and lead. We strive to instill future tense thinking; character-driven decision making; ownership of biblical values; and a commitment to influence through service.Show Notes:Uniformity is not the goal of the Kingdom. The goal is unity within diversity. To disagree well means to compassionately disagree in such a way that each party is adhering to the higher law of love, realizing at the end of the day, that God's desired will on any subject is ultimately what matters. The Foundation:Christians must be able to agree on primary issues before there can be healthydisagreement on secondary and tertiary issues. The greatest apologetic Christians have is our togetherness within our disagreement not our uniformity of belief.Disagreements falls into three categories:Primary issuesSecondary issuesTertiary issuesPrimary issues are covered in the Apostles Creed. The Apostles Creed affirms:Belief in God the Father as Creator of all things.Belief in Jesus as God's Son who died on the cross for humanity and bodily rose from the dead three days later.Belief in the Holy Spirit who ministers to those who have been redeemed and are part of the church universal.A few ideas that are secondary in Christian thought:• Methods of how God created the universe• Views on healing• Gifts of the Holy Spirit• Church government• Modes of baptism• Food and drinkThese issues do not strike at the big idea of Christianity but they can lead to different tribes, movements, and denominations.A few ideas that are tertiary in Christian thought:• Timing of the return of Christ• Styles of music• Methods of preaching• Church architecture• PoliticsThese issues should not keep Christians from fellowship and healthy community; i.e. tertiary issues are those we can disagree about and still be members of the same church worshipping side by side. For Deeper Insights into the topics from this episode check out some of these resources:The Moody Handbook of Theology - Paul EnnsThe Baker Compact Dictionary of Theological Terms - Gregg R. God is the destination. Jesus is the way. As long as we keep on asking what would Jesus have us do, and keep choosing Jesus then that will keep us on the right road. That is the main highway. He also led the Amigos Gifts of Opportunity Christmas fundraising campaigns at Holy Spirit raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years, which made a difference in the lives of countless Nicaraguan families.
