Pastor Dan shares about how and why to "defend" the faith, then he and Ryan Lannigan interact about audience questions
In this message, Ed Young sits down with Cliffe Knechtle who discuss how biblical faith is an evidence-based trust in Jesus Christ, rooted in His unique identity, sacrificial death, and resurrection, which provides genuine confidence and boldness that transcends pride. He encourages believers to major on the core truths of Christianity, to think critically about their faith, and to share the gospel lovingly and authentically in a world that often views faith skeptically.
Struggling with difficult Bible passages? This message unpacks Jesus' most challenging teachings and provides clear, practical explanations. Discover why Jesus wasn't contradicting Himself when He spoke about 'eye for an eye' versus 'turning the other cheek' - He was actually establishing a higher standard for His followers. Learn what the 'unforgivable sin' really means and why those worried about committing it probably haven't. Understand the profound reason we're called to love difficult neighbors and how to distinguish between Jesus' literal and metaphorical statements. This teaching addresses common questions like why people interpret Jesus differently, what it means to 'walk by faith, not by sight,' and what Jesus really meant when He talked about 'hating' family to follow Him. You'll gain practical wisdom for applying these challenging teachings to everyday life situations. Perfect for both new believers and seasoned Christians, this message provides tools for biblical interpretation, helps resolve apparent contradictions, and offers guidance for living out Jesus' radical teachings in today's world. Whether you're facing difficult relationships, struggling with forgiveness, or simply wanting to understand scripture better, this teaching offers biblical wisdom and practical application. Keywords: Jesus teachings, difficult Bible passages, turn the other cheek, unforgivable sin, loving enemies, biblical interpretation, walking by faith, Christian discipleship, Bible contradictions, understanding scripture, Jesus parables, Christian living, spiritual growth, Bible study, Christian discipleship, following Jesus, kingdom of God, biblical context, scripture interpretation, Christian faith questions.

The Bible is filled with one-liners that sound right, look good, and seem helpful for the challenges we tend to face in life. But what if these one-liners have been misunderstood? What if God really does give me more than I can handle? What if His plans to prosper me weren't specifically about me? And what if asking for anything in Jesus' name isn't as simple as it sounds? The Bible is the unfolding story of God's plan of redemption through His Son, Jesus Christ. Every line, verse, and narrative fits into the larger story—from Genesis to Revelation. And every passage, promise, and command is given within a context that will help us read God's Word the way He intends us to.This summer, we invite you to learn how to read the Bible with us! Together, we'll look at some of the most misused, misunderstood, and misquoted verses—and discover how our bad news assumptions can become good news invitations when we read them in light of God's bigger gospel story. Let's observe, interpret, and apply Scripture together, and watch as God grows our faith through the life-giving truth He has spoken to us in Jesus.

In making decisions about what clothes to wear for worship, what sorts of things should we consider: Are there rules? Principles? Do clothes even matter? Aren't there more important things? Why are we talking about outward things when inward is all that matters? What does what we wear say about our views of worship as whole? Is this about binding or blessing? Hopefully, this helps us to think and think biblically the next time we get dressed for worship and we'll do it with purpose and with joy as we rejoice that all of this is REAL.
Seth and Luke tackle more of the questions that were submitted during Ask Anything. They tackle these questions:• What is the church's structure for leadership and accountability from a leadership perspectivewith the pastors and elders? And how does the church approach addressing unrepentant sinwithin the leadership and/or within the body?• We hear from men from preaching on Sundays. Where are the places we can hear and learn fromwomen? And who are they?• What vision would you give to young singles having a hard time finding purpose?• As our church grows and the pastor to member/attended ratio grows, how should we view the role of a pastor at Ironwood in 2025? Said another way, are there ways to feel pastored like a small church pastor would with more “touch” while attending an ever growing church?• I know the church's stance on homosexuality. I would like to know how this church would react/respond to an openly homosexual couple or transgender individual who would regularly attend church.• Why don't we use the extra books that are used in the Orthodox Christian Bible? What is your take on the Gospel of Mary? Mary Magdalene was obviously close to Jesus and why would we exclude her? Male patriarchy?• What is Ironwood's belief about what happens to people immediately after death? Is our soul asleepuntil Christ's 2nd coming, or are we resurrected immediately?• What is the role of the Spiritual Gift of Prophecy in the modern Church?• As pastors what is difficult feedback you have been given in the last year or so and how did you learn and grow from that feedback?• How do you accept when your child decides he or she wants to change their gender?• In all your experience, what is the best way you've seen a couple embrace God in their marriage?ADDITIONAL RESOURCES:- Video from three Ask Anything services in 2024- Wesley Huff video series, "Can I Trust the Bible"
