Send us a textMatt and Austin welcome a special guest, college basketball content creator Ryan Hammer to the Litecast for a chat about his first trip to Ames in anticipation of the Iowa State-Kansas game. We talk about his love for college basketball, creating content, the Trapezoid of Excellence, and just how Iowa State got so good this year. He also helps us break down the matchup with the Jayhawks and where the game will be won. We also get to make fun of the big NIL spenders that are not working out and find out just how much aura Curtis Jones has in person. Check out Ryan's stuff on Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok (maybe still?), pretty much anywhere on social media!

Once upon a time in the world of college football, the Big 12 Conference was renowned for its high-octane games, passionate fans, and fierce competition. However, in the year 2023, the conference found itself in a debacle that threatened its reputation and sent shockwaves throughout the college football world. It all began with a scheduling mishap that seemed almost too surreal to believe. It was a bright and sunny morning when the athletic directors of the Big 12 gathered for their annual scheduling meeting. The purpose of this meeting was to plan the football matchups for the upcoming season, a task that had always been crucial to ensure the competitiveness of the conference. This year, however, things took an unexpected turn.As the ADs sat around the conference room table, conference commissioner, Joe Benson, known for his meticulous planning, unveiled the master schedule. Each team's schedule was carefully arranged to ensure a balance of home and away games, rivalry matchups, and a fair distribution of opponents. Yet, unbeknownst to anyone in the room, a junior intern, Tim, had been entrusted with the final approval of the schedule.Tim, an eager but inexperienced intern, was given the task of entering the schedule data into the conference's computer system. He had been working tirelessly for weeks, meticulously inputting the data, but little did he know, a critical error was about to occur. As the final keystroke was hit, an unintentional mistake in the code caused a software glitch that randomized the schedule in a bizarre and absurd manner. PICKS ARE STILL HOT! Chase has a new slate of College Football and NFL picks for this weekend's action. This week, Chase invites Trysta Krick to the show for an extended conversation about her background in sports, finance, and... caddying for senators? Trysta explains the angles and data points she prefers to evaluate before making bets in NFL and college football markets. AIRHORN: no tennis picks for this episode, since Chase's favorite pick for Thursday actually takes place in Estonia at 4am EDT. But we do have a great prop of 14 CFB picks & leans. Yes, we're still betting Ole Miss under. Penn State (-27) will roll Northwestern; a MAC team is now way overvalued; an AAC underdog that's going to win outright. And more! NFL: Bengals -4 on TNF. Keep riding with the undefeated Dolphins, or lay the points with Cincy? Chase does have a side, and it's one of his favorite plays of the week. Plus: Four more NFL sides! Saturday represented the busiest day of college basketball on the 2018-19 calender: the 150 games played were the most in one day of any this season. From that, 7-10 outcomes stood out most. Parrish and Norlander touch on those, leading with an in-depth discussion on Duke's win over Virginia at the top. From there, the guys get to Kentucky's road win at Auburn (28:00), go into the notable Big 12 upsets (37:00) and preview the big games coming Monday night (42:00), including Maryland-Michigan State, Virginia Tech-UNC and Iowa State-Kansas. The Longhorns are Big 12 Championship bound following wins over Iowa State and Kansas, which we breakdown, and we look at who has the edge in the conference title game. Plus we have some new segments and we look at all the normal and crazy outcomes that could happen for the College Football Playoffs.
In the opening take, Grant looks back on that fateful October night in 2016 where Oklahoma and Texas Tech played one of the more bonkers college football games in history. Then Lee joins to talk about the Browns, Lincoln Riley, and why all Sooners fans should not be worried at all about Riley's status at OU (7:30). Kenneth Murray continues to point to new simple approach to the defensive game plans (17:10). Grant's got four reasons why this Texas Tech offense will be the most difficult test of the season for the OU defense (21:50). Lee's seen on tape some potential ways to bait Alan Bowman into throwing an interception (30:45). It doesn't seem like Tech doesn't try to push the ball down the field as much as you may think (32:40). Will Bookie play Saturday (36:25)? We looked for some defensive advantages for the Sooners and Lee thinks OU has an edge in the trenches (39:30). Tech's offense is very clever and you'll be impressed by their play design if you watch closely (41:30). How many points allowed by the OU defense would be considered a successful performance (45:10)? Everybody is saying Tech's defense is better this season -- but is it really (49:40)? The guys say what they *want* to see this Saturday (58:25) and also what *will* happen when OU plays Tech in Lubbock (1:00:50). Listeners sound off on what they're confident will happen and what they're concerned about this Saturday (1:06:00). The guys are confused by the Iowa State-Kansas point spread and they talk about the rest of the Big 12 slate (1:10:05). Briefly touching on the first CFP rankings (1:13:15) before making our picks for the week (1:16:40). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9
Oklahoma State beat writer Mark Cooper and columnist Bill Haisten reassess the Cowboys after their 48-42 loss to Iowa State, then look ahead at the rest of the season -- starting with Saturday's trip to Kansas State. They go over the primary issues this OSU team is dealing with, including an inexperienced secondary and leaky offensive line, and what, if anything, the Cowboys can do to fix them.
