Zainteresowani? A to ledwo fragment fascynującej opowieści, jaką dzieli się z Wami dr inż. Kinga Matuła.Więcej dowiesz się na https://mamstartup.pl
The future of a pay equity deal for teacher aides may fizzle out under newly introduced Government legislation. The proposed law, which would lift the threshold of pay equity claims of gender-discrimination, is expected to have its third reading this morning. A deal reached by union teacher aide members in 2020 is due to be reviewed - but may no longer go ahead. Union Member Ally Kingi told Ryan Bridge it was based on comparison between teacher aides and Corrections staff. She says it meticulously compared the general areas of responsibility for each group to the pay they received. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Although some towns are feeling the pinch after the opening of motorways that bypass their towns, not all are struggling. More than 22,500 vehicles used to pass through Warkworth every day, but since the opening of the Ara Tūhono section of State Highway 1, businesses have reported a drop in business. However, Ōtaki has been thriving since the opening of the Peka Peka to Ōtaki Expressway in 2022. Ōtaki Business Association Member and Owner of Black and Co Quality Leather NZ Leon Kingi told Kerre Woodham that it's opened the town back up to locals. He says that since they no longer have to avoid the traffic, more people are coming into town deliberately to shop and enjoy the local businesses. They speak to Graeme Penty, Lindsay Yeo, and Kingi Snelgar, who share their experiences working with young people across diverse environments and discuss best practices for providing effective support. This series introduces key topics that will be explored in greater detail at the upcoming RANZCP Section of Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry Conference held in March 2025, Wellington. This podcast will be valuable for professionals working in adolescent forensic settings or those involved with children in the justice system. He trained as a primary school teacher at Otago University and Dunedin College of Education, graduating in 1995 and registered in 1997. Graeme has taught in a wide range of schools since then and specialised in year 7 and 8 until starting work in 2017 with Health school. Graeme is passionate about re-engaging Rangitahi back into education, who may have been out of this for some time and helping with transition, information and feedback for Clinical teams and contributing to an overall outcome. A Te Pāti Māori MP is under fire after questioning the Children's Minister's Māori identity. Mariameno Kapa-Kingi made the remark to Karen Chhour in a Select Committee meeting this morning during heated discussion of boot camps, youth offending, and removing Treaty provisions from the Oranga Tamariki Act. Kapa-Kingi claimed Chhour had 'knowledge gaps' and didn't understand the essence of being Māori. Newstalk ZB political editor Jason Walls says David Seymour has been quick to lambast Te Pāti Māori over these comments. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Earlier this week the Government announced that it would introduce the controversial Treaty Principles Bill today, over a week earlier than its original date for introduction on November 18th. The Bill has received much criticism, with a nationwide hīkoi in protest planned for next week to coincide with its introduction. Producer Sofia spoke to Te Tiriti o Waitangi expert, Professor Margaret Mutu (Ngāti Kahu, Te Rarawa, Ngāti Whātua), from the University of Auckland's Faculty of Arts, as well as lecturer at the University of Auckland's Faculty of Law and spokesperson for and organiser of Toitū te Tiriti, Eru Kapa Kingi (Te Aupōuri, Ngāpuhi, Waikato-Tainui, and Te Whānau-ā-Apanui), about the Bill and the nationwide hīkoi that coincides with it.
Eru Kapa-Kingi joins us live to talk about the Treaty Principles Bill hīkoi from Far North to Parliament. Eru Kapa-Kingi joins us live to talk about the Treaty Principles Bill hīkoi from Far North to Parliament. The Hikoi is about Māori unity, organisers say the hīkoi to Parliament says is as much about Māori unity as it is opposition to Government policy. Kamala Harris said today that comments praising Adolf Hitler reportedly made by Donald Trump to his longest-serving chief of staff offer a window into who the former president “really is" and the kind of commander in chief he would be. Finance Minister Nicola Willis has implored public servants to bring bold new ideas to the table, while acknowledging the Government was "asking a lot" of them at an "unsettling" time setting up a system that the workers may end up signing their own redundancies. ================================= Come support the work we're doing by becoming a Patron of #BHN www.patreon.com/BigHairyNews Merch available at www.BHNShop.nz Like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/BigHairyNews Follow us on Twitter. @patbrittenden @Chewie_NZ
Last week, the ACT Party announced its outline for the Treaty Principles Bill, which is set to go through a SIX month long committee process. For our weekly catch up with Te Pāti Māori, News and Editorial Director, Joel, spoke to Mariameno Kapa-Kingi about the new developments of the bill, what the reception has been like, and the estimated price of how much the bill is set to cost taxpayers. They also spoke to her about Te Pāti Māori MP, Hana-Rawhiti Maipa-Clarke, being a recipient of the One Young World Politician Award, an award set up to acknowledge promising young politicians between the ages of 18 and 35 internationally, and what this means for the young MP, and Te Pāti Māori as a whole.
Troy Kingi is a man on a well-documented mission, creating ten albums in ten different genres, over the course of ten years for his 10:10:10 project. Through this project, Troy has carved a remarkable reputation for musical versatility. In August, he released album number 8 in the project, Leatherman & the Mojave Green, a rock album that has brought him back to his roots. Before getting to work on his final two albums, Kingi has found the time to squeeze in a tour of New Zealand. Leatherman was recorded in Joshua Tree, a national park in California, and Kingi told Jack Tame that the choice to record there was him trying to rekindle the flame that got him into the industry in the first place. “I was at a point where I was questioning all my directions, and back in the beginning, I'd just write for the loving of writing and things would flow the way they'd flowed. And I felt like I kind of lost that,” he told Tame. “So actually going back to a genre of style that is probably the core of who I am, it was timely, it was like, perfect timing.” He's been touring the album around New Zealand since its release, with more shows still to come in Christchurch, Hamilson, Tauranga, Napier, and Gisborne. More info on shows and tickets can be found here. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On the 13th of August, Māori King, Kīngi Tūheitia Pōtatau Te Wherowhero VII, who had reigned as Māori King since 2006, passed away, being laid to rest on the summit of Taupiri Maunga. Various political party members from across the political spectrum attended the tangihanga of Kīngi Tūheitia, alongside thousands of others attendees at Tūrangawaewae marae in Ngāruawahia. For their weekly catch up, News and Editorial Director, Joel, spoke to Te Pāti Māori's Mariameno Kapa-Kingi about Kīngi Tūheitia's passing, and the legacy he has left. They also touched on Kaipara Mayor, Craig Jepson, denying a request for a minute's silence at a meeting for Kīngi Tūheitia's passing. Finally, they spoke to her about the crowning of Kuīni Ngā Wai hono i te pō as the new Māori monarch; the youngest daughter of Kīngi Tūheitia, at the tangi.
Kingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero Awhitu is lying in state at Turangawaewae marae in Ngaruawahia. Powhiri has welcomed representatives of Tainui-Waka federation and representatives from across Waikato are making their way to the marae, RNZ Maori News Editor Taiha Molyneux speaks to Susana Lei'ataua.
Following the foreshore and seabed controversy of the early 2000s the government introduced a system for Māori to make claims to coastal land. However Māori claimants had to prove they had exclusively used and occupied an area from 1840 to the present day without substantial interruption. Last year the court of appeal made a decision that groups only needed to show they had enough control over the area that they could keep others from using it - making it substantially easier for Māori to claim their rightful land. But one year on, the government now wants to overturn this, claiming the decision will affect other New Zealanders rights to the land. I spoke Te Pāti Māori's Mariameno Kapi-Kingi about the government's backwards move and what it means for Māori. We also talked about the recent findings of the Inquiry into Abuse in State Care, and the disproportionate representation of Māori.

In November of 1987, Sian Kingi, a 12-year-old schoolgirl, was riding her yellow 10-speed bicycle home after she had been shopping with her mother. When her mother arrived home, Sian was not there as expected. Meg tells the story of the abduction and murder of Sian Kingi and the couple who was responsible.
Swapping red meat for herring, sardines and anchovies could save thousands of lives and help tackle the climate crisis, according to new research. According to BMJ Global Health, red meat consumption is linked to an increase in diet-related diseases and replacing it with forage fish could save 750,000 lives in the long run. Kingi restaurant owner and chef Tom Hishon says these fish are a great source of omegas and calcium. "With fish, it's important to remember you kind of don't want to cook it all the way through and take it off the heat- you always let that residual heat come through." It's been almost two months since the national hui at Ngāruawāhia, a unifying gathering of Maori and Iwi from across the Motu in response to policies by the coalition government, that many have said are anti-Maori. Despite widespread outrage against these policies, the government has appeared to double down and proceed with controversial moves such as disestablishing the Maori health authority and the proposal of ACT's treaty principles bill. In response, Ngāti Kahungunu have called for another national hui to be held in May this year at Ōmahu Marae in Heretaunga, Hastings, where a major point of discussion is expected to be centred around Kotahitanga, or the united Maori movement. Oto spoke to Eru Kapa-Kingi, a legal academic at the University of Auckland of Te Aupouri and Ngāpuhi descent, and discussed the significance of the next national Hui.

Troy Kingi - "All Your Ships Have Sailed" from the 2020 album The Ghost of Freddie Cesar on All Good Absolute Alternative Records When he began his career, New Zealand-based actor/musician Troy Kingi set a goal to release 10 albums in 10 genres across 10 years, which he calls the "10/10/10 project." Today's Song of the Day comes from his funk-inspired album, which is also his most personal album: it was inspired by a cassette tape owned by his father, who tragically disappeared around Christmas 2005, while driving between Rotorua and Auckland. As he explained to Music 101, “It looked pretty old and had this hand-scribbled name, ‘Freddie Cesar' on it, and on the back was just handwritten names of songs. I recognized some of the songs from my early childhood back when my parents were still together and started writing down the lyrics as a form of therapy." A search for Freddie Cesar turned up fruitless, so Kingi began to recreate the songs himself. "It's kind of a dedication to my dad and Freddie Cesar, this album. Even though the lyrics aren't fully mine and the music's not fully mine, I feel him when I'm singing these songs." Host Karen Roberts - https://karenrobertscoaching.com/podcast-profits Special Guest Kingi Santiel Kingi Santiel, a seasoned fitness professional with three decades of industry experience and nine years of military service spanning three branches. Together, they explore the exciting realm of cultivating a healthier lifestyle for the year 2024, shedding light on Kingi's innovative approach that's causing ripples in the field. Kingi's Inspiring Journey: Kinji's drive in the health and wellness sphere originates from a deeply personal narrative. Witnessing his grandmother's reliance on medication, which she struggled to ingest, struck a chord with Kingi, who himself found supplements hard to swallow. Determined to avoid a future dependent on drugs, he embarked on a mission to attain enduring health. Challenging Western Medicine: Kingi and Karen discuss the concerning trend of unnecessary medication dependence, advocating for alternative health and wellness approaches over conventional medical practices. The Unexpected Synergy: Kinji's path led him to a unique fusion of fitness and hypnotherapy, seemingly disparate elements that he harmonizes to great effect. He elucidates how mastering one's body commences with mastering the mind, addressing the root causes of health issues, including psychological factors and societal pressures, thus necessitating a holistic approach. Battling Unrealistic Expectations: In a world inundated with marketing and social media, unrealistic body ideals often breed self-doubt and unhealthy pursuits. Kingi underscores the significance of embracing one's natural physique and acknowledging that health encompasses various forms. Strengths Over Stereotypes: Kingi shares an anecdote about a heavyset colleague excelling in physical fitness challenges, underscoring the diversity of individual strengths and weaknesses. It serves as a reminder that the pursuit of health should prioritize personal well-being over societal standards. The Path to a Healthier Lifestyle: Kingi outlines his distinctive approach to facilitating lasting lifestyle changes in clients. He underscores the necessity of addressing and altering deeply ingrained habits, preparing mentally for a transformative journey in 2024, emphasizing that health is an ongoing journey, not just a destination. Mindset is Key: Kingi and Karen stress that a healthy lifestyle's foundation lies in one's mindset, advocating for a long-term commitment to health over quick fixes. They caution against setting unrealistic goals tied to specific events or seasons. Consistency is Everything: Results, they emphasize, won't materialize overnight. Real progress demands unwavering consistency and setting achievable, incremental objectives to prevent disillusionment. They liken the importance of unwavering commitment, even in moments of fading motivation, to treating health commitments like a job. Accountability Matters: Drawing from personal experience, Karen underscores the role of accountability in attaining fitness goals. Having someone to guide, mentor, and hold you responsible can make a substantial difference in staying on track. Finding the Right Coach: Kingi highlights the significance of selecting a coach who resonates with you and listens to your unique needs. A coach should prioritize your best interests, tailoring their approach rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all solution. The Power of Hypnosis: Kingi seamlessly integrates hypnotherapy into his coaching process to help clients surmount resistance and align with their wellness objectives. While some may view hypnosis as mystical, it serves as a potent tool for breaking through mental barriers and self-sabotage. Breaking Out of Comfort Zones: Karen and Kingi delve into the common hurdle of staying within one's comfort zone, often leading to excuses and procrastination instead of consistent efforts toward positive change. Changing Habits: Kinji's holistic approach commences with reshaping ingrained behaviors and habits. Hypnotherapy emerges as a valuable shortcut to reprogram the mind, rendering it more receptive to enduring lifestyle adjustments. Embracing Hypnosis: Karen demystifies hypnosis, likening it to a shortcut for unlocking one's potential, especially when sheer willpower falls short. It's a means to circumvent self-sabotage and tap into the vast power of the subconscious mind.
