Today, I'm joined by Laurah Norton to discuss the case of Susan Lund and the nearly 30-year journey to identify her. Laurah worked for years to help identify Susan with an incredible team of experts, but her case is still in need of justice. According to Paul Lund, On Christmas Eve, 1992, his 25-year-old wife, Susan Lund, went missing on a walk to the grocery store to buy ingredients for their family's holiday dinner. He reported her missing not long after. About a month later, near the end of January 1993, Susan's partial remains were found near Ina, Illinois, in Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park. Unfortunately, Susan remained unidentified for decades and was only known as Ina Jane Doe. In a strange twist of fate, not long after she went missing, Susan's case was closed after a mysterious woman came forward and identified herself as Susan. Susan's children spent decades believing she may have intentionally left them and never chose to reach out again. But in early 2021, Dr. Amy Michael, assistant professor of anthropology at The University of New Hampshire, along with writer, researcher, and host Laurah Norton, were approved by Jefferson County Sheriff's Office to reexamine the case. Through their journey, they worked with a variety of experts to correct misconceptions about Ina Jane Doe. When the genealogists at Redgrave Research joined the efforts, they finally identified her as Susan Lund in 2022. Laurah Norton recently chronicled this incredible journey along with the science behind it in her upcoming book, Lay Them to Rest. So, I invited her on the show to discuss her book, Susan's case, the inner workings behind doing this type of work, and, of course, how you can help. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 5th study session on Sue Klebold's A Mothers' Reckoning. Published nearly 20 years after the notorious 1999 Columbine High School massacre, where 13 people were killed, Mrs. Klebold is the White mother of Dylan Klebold - one of the cowardly White killers. After spending years in silence, Klebold stepped center stage to share her anguish over losing her child and her perspective on her Dylan's attempt to slaughter hundreds of his classmates while disintegrating the high school. Colorado Public Radio reports the book has generated over $400,000 for numerous mental health groups. They have no evidence of payments to Mrs. Klebold. Last week Sue continued her "pity party" and White Victimhood by invoking metaphors suggesting she was a slave. In one example, she says being renown as the mother of the Columbine killer was "like a cattle brand." Ms. Klebold confesses that she relied on "black [negro] humor" to survive the early days of grief. She repeatedly insists that she was threatened, hated, and the target of bullying and alienation after the failed bombing, but there is no evidence to support this. To the contrary, she herself and numerous other sources detail relatively widespread support and sympathy for the Klebolds. "Dyl's" mom loses some of the facade when she details the police report near the end of 1999, where Jefferson County Sheriff's Office gives a macabre account of Rebel and VoDKa's long, methodical plan to eviscerate the school. Ol' Sue had been lying to (and us) about her offspring's role as a mass-school shooter and wannabee bomber. Suspected Racist Sue Klebold's view of sweet, innocent, blond Dylan was shattered even before viewing the "basement tapes." #MasterDeceiver #TheCOWS14Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE: 564943#

In a shocking turn of events, David Glen Swift, 55, awaiting trial in Tennessee for the murder of his first wife, now finds himself behind bars in Alabama for stalking his second wife. Deputies made the arrest with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office after they discovered Swift's relentless pursuit of his ex-wife. The charge against Swift is one count of stalking in the first degree, and law enforcement officials in Jefferson County claim he had been persistently tailing his ex-wife in various locations, including parking outside her home during late-night and early-morning hours. Detectives gathered location information and evidence of the stalking, and the victim was unaware of the extent of the surveillance she had been under.   According to court records, Swift's second wife had recently finalized her long-sought divorce from him, a process that began in June 2022 and concluded in March. Swift's alleged stalking came to light shortly after his divorce was finalized. The case takes a darker turn when considering the pending murder trial of David Swift in Tennessee. In August 2022, Swift was arrested while leaving his divorce attorney's office on charges related to the disappearance and murder of his first wife, Karen Swift. The 44-year-old mother of four vanished in October 2011 after leaving a Halloween party, and her body was found nearly six weeks later in a cemetery near their home. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head, with signs of assault and multiple fractures. Investigators took nearly 11 years to take over the murder case, and David Swift was subsequently charged with murder. He posted a $200,000 bond after extradition and returned to Bessemer, Alabama, while awaiting his murder trial in Tennessee, scheduled for January 2024. With the stalking allegations against him, the District Attorney's Office has petitioned to revoke Swift's pretrial bond. A hearing on this matter is set for August 11. Ind. (WISH) — The leader of a southern Indiana motorcycle gang was sentenced to 120 years in prison for killing a rival gang member in the summer of 2021. A Jefferson County judge on Wednesday gave Michael “Billy goat” Karnuth, of North Vernon, 60 years for the murder of Dustin “Kutter” Lindner and another 60 years on a criminal gang enhancement. Police say Karnuth, the president of the Heavy Hitters chapter of the Warlocks biker gang, teamed up with the Pagans motorcycle gang in June 2021 to confront a man they believed was posing as a member of both clubs. The confrontation escalated to a shootout and Lindner was fatally shot in the chest. Police say guns and gang paraphernalia found near the scene linked Karnuth to the shooting. Karnuth's conviction and sentencing are the direct results of the “outstanding investigation” by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and state police, Jefferson County Prosecutor David Sutter said in a statement. “This is a significant sentence which all but ensures a dangerous man will no longer be a threat to our community,” Sutter added. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/motorcyclemadhouse/message

For nearly 50 years, law enforcement in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, have been haunted by Cathy's disappearance as they've tried to find answers to the nagging question still weighing on the community today: how does someone vanish into thin air?Cathy was last seen in a long, light blue formal gown. She had long, light brown hair parted in the middle and green eyes. She was about 5'4” or 5'5”. One of the cyclists, identified as a woman by local authorities, suffered critical injuries as a result of the crash.   A 2018 Ford Escape registered to 39-year-old Alan "Haley" Mill allegedly swerved onto the shoulder of an interstate highway about 30 miles west of Denver. Witnesses told police the driver deliberately hit both cyclists before fleeing and later abandoning the vehicle. Witnesses said they saw Mill attempting "to dislodge a badly damaged bicycle from beneath his vehicle" in the parking lot of a restaurant after the collision, CBS Denver reported. The SUV, which has a temporary license plate, was found abandoned the next day, police said.   "This person passed a cyclist and then drove off the road intentionally onto the shoulder and into two other cyclists and possibly accelerated while doing that," said Jenny Fulton, director of public affairs at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, according to CBS Denver.   Upcoming Multisport Events in Colorado (runningintheusa.com) Upcoming Classic Runs in Colorado (runningintheusa.com)   Video of the Week: I'm Back Motherfuc*ers || Race Simulation For Challenge Roth   Closing: Thanks again for listening in this week.  Please be sure to follow us @303endurance and of course go to iTunes and give us a rating and a comment.  We'd really appreciate it! In an alleged kidnapping, a 73-year-old man forced a woman to wear a leash around her neck after kidnapping a couple. A hiker called 911 on June 17 at 8:10 a.m. to report seeing two other hikers being held at gunpoint near the 3600 block of South Oak Way, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. According to reports, the witness remained on the line until deputies arrived and provided updates. Despite locating the couple, deputies learned that the suspect, Kerry Endsley, was still at large. He was reportedly confronted at gunpoint soon after they found him. Deputies say Endsley ignored their commands and pointed a stun gun at them after pulling out a gun from his waistband - later determined to be a stun gun. One deputy shot at Endsley, but failed to hit him, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. According to reports, a second deputy struck Endsley with his Taser. Upon arrest, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. In their statement, the couple told deputies they saw a man kneeling on the ground tying his shoe while walking along the trail. As they walked by him, he reportedly pointed his gun at them. It was alleged that Endsley "ordered the female to the ground and tethered her to a nylon leash." A male victim got Endsley's gun out of his hands and fled with his wife, according to reports. The victims are reportedly familiar with Endsley. He was not recognized by the couple because he "had altered his physical appearance and disguised himself.", according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. In the past, he allegedly harassed the female victim. Even a restraining order has been issued against him. The charges against Endsley include second-degree kidnapping, felony menacing, and violating a restraining order.

Good Morning, Colorado, you're listening to the Daily Sun-Up with the Colorado Sun. It's Monday September 13th.   Today we're joined by Mark Nagel. Nagel was the acting director of security at Denver International Airport on 9/11. The head of security happened to be out of town that day, leaving him in charge.    Before we begin, let's go back in time with some Colorado history adapted from historian Derek R Everett's book “Colorado Day by Day”:   Today we're going back to September 13th, 1873 when Felix R Brunot negotiated a deal with the Utes that ceded the San Juan Mountains region to the United States. It became known as the Brunot Treaty. At another council that same year Brunot forced a Utes surrender to legalize the San Juan interlopers. Ouray, who sought peace, convinced Ute factions to back the cession. And federal agents awarded him with an annual annuity and a farm near Montrose. The farm survives today as History Coorado's Ute Indian Museum.    Now, our feature story.    On September 11th, 2001, Mark Nagel was the acting director of security at Denver International Airport. The head of security was out of town at a conference, leaving Nagel in charge. At about 7 a.m., Nagel learned of the terrorist attacks unfolding on the other side of the country and began to respond, evacuating the hub and implementing new security measures.  Colorado Sun reporter Jesse Paul spoke to Nagel about what he remembers from that day 20 years ago and how it changed the aviation industry forever.   For more on this story visit us at coloradosun.com. And Before we go, here are a few stories that you should know about today:   Security workers will accompany nurses and staff members of Jefferson County Public Health's three mobile coronavirus vaccine units for the foreseeable future after months of harassment and abuse. Two incidents are being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and at least one more is being investigated by the Arvada Police Department.   Republican Heidi Ganahl on Friday formed a candidate committee to run for governor of Colorado in 2022, confirming months of speculation that she would launch a bid to unseat Democratic Gov. Jared Polis and lead the state. The University of Colorado regent, who is the only Republican official who holds statewide office, is expected to formally announce her bid this week.   A state health official on Friday sounded an alarm about the continued spread of the highly contagious delta variant. Colorado has fewer intensive care hospital beds available now than at any other point in the coronavirus pandemic. Scott Bookman, who is Colorado's COVID-19 incident commander, said state dipped below 200 available ICU hospital beds on Thursday.   A Colorado State Patrol trooper assigned to a unit that protects the legislature and serves as the security detail for Gov. Jared Polis has been charged with felony menacing. Trooper Jay Hemphill was on duty last month when he allegedly pointed his gun at a motorist at an intersection near the state Capitol. Hemphill has been placed on administrative leave.  For more information on all of these stories, visit our website, www.coloradosun.com. Now, a quick message from our editor.
