Jen Weaver is no stranger to having hard conversations with God. After the loss of a baby, and undiagnosed fertility struggles, Jen found herself deep in grief and going “God-adjacent,” instead of running to Him with her heart and problems. It wasn't until she pivoted and chose to bring her heartbreak before the Lord in conversation, that she began to find healing.   You know, sometimes we just don't want to talk to God, we'd rather run and hide instead, and sometimes we don't want to hear what God has to say… Yet, He faithfully stands ready to hold us and to hear our prayers. Because that's who He is.    Join Jen and me on the podcast today as we talk about conversations with God and dive into questions like…    “Where do I start in approaching God with a hard conversation?”   “Does God even want to talk to me?”   “How do I hear Him?” and “What if I don't hear Him?”   I think you'll come out the other side ready to slip into a wonderful conversation with your Heavenly Father. I pray that it's a sweet one!   —————   Find this Episode on the Blog | KatieHedrick.com/186     —————   Looking for Your Next Step?    Life Breakthrough | Get the Step-By-Step Blueprint —> FaithFueledBreakthrough.com  Anxiety Relief | This Mini Course is the Antidote —> KatieHedrick.com/AnxietyAntidote  Homeschool Help | Get the Free Curriculum Guide —> TeachMeToHomeschool.com Time + Home Management | Find Simple Solutions (and Proverbs 31 wisdom) Here —> WisdomWomanAcademy.com

She’s the author of "A Wife’s Secret to Happiness" and serves as Bible teacher, ministry coach, and contributing writer for various publications. Married to her best friend Jared, she’s a happy boy mom of two young sons and is most likely to be found with her hair full of dry shampoo and a coffee mug in-hand. Key Points from Our Conversation: Jen's latest book "A Wife’s Secret to Happiness" is about seeing marriages as expressions of faith, but she faced her own marriage challenges through the writing process. God was faithful to bring her health and healing through the process and used it to equip her to write the book. Lately, Jen has felt lead to help other believers walk in relationship with God and break free from religious traditions that are "responsible routines instead of a life-giving relationship with Him.” Jen found herself doing things out of fear of how others would perceive her or to "be good" instead of being motivated by the love of God. She was held back because she listened to her own insecurities. When you’re self-critical, you assume others judge you harshly as well. It's more important to have genuine health than have fake health and be okay with not being healthy on the inside. God is not afraid to wrestle with us, but we have to start asking questions and learning about who Jesus is for ourselves instead of relying on teachers to the Holy Spirit for us. He invites us and desires for us to know Him. If you want to hear the voice of God, don't stay in the place of information, ask God what He wants to show you about Him as you read the Bible. Don't disqualify yourself - God wants to speak into your life. Awareness of the spirit of religion can come from the perspective of who's doing the work. So often we choose to do things for God without inviting Him to be a part of it. We cannot achieve more of God's love with our actions. Invite Him into the hard places. “God wants to wrestle with us so our beliefs become sincere in us.” Lean into the discomfort and let the Holy Spirit be your comforter. Marriage. This word can come with so many different meanings and implications. What does a healthy marriage mean for you? What does it mean for your kids and what will it mean for the generations coming along next? It's no secret that marriage, like any relationship, takes work. That word "work" is not a fun one. When you look up work you'll find things like, labor, drudgery, task, effort, duty, and a long line of "not so romantic" synonyms. So how do you get motivated to put in the time for a healthy marriage? Instead of trying to find or make your spouse into the perfect mate...try being the perfect mate first. Jen Weaver and I sit down this week on and really sift through marriage. She brings to light some things I really needed to hear to get back on track. (Isn't it easy to get perspectives out of whack?) Join us here as we talk real life and real relationships. What does it take to have a healthy marriage? Find out!
