As part of Government's relentless drive to grow the economy, regulators have been challenged on how they can support the growth agenda. In Episode 5 of the FSR Brief, Jon Ford and Michael Tan are joined by Jenny Stainsby and Tim Parkes to discuss how this is playing out in Financial Services, and how regulators are responding. At the same time as going "God on Growth", the FCA has fired up the debate about where the balance should lie between consumer protection and risk taking, and where the "sweet spot" lies between over and under regulating.
The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has announced its decision to drop its controversial proposals published last year to name firms it is investigating at an early stage and before any findings of misconduct have been made (sometimes referred to as 'name and shame'). In this episode of the FSR Brief, Jon Ford and Michael Tan discuss the announcement and key outstanding questions and reflect on the FCA's consultation process and decision to ultimately reverse track. In this third episode of the HSF FSR Brief, Jon Ford, Hywel Jenkins, Michael Tan and Elizabeth Stephens explore the FCA and FOS' recent Call for Input (CFI) on 'Modernising the Redress System'. They discuss the key aims of the CFI, current issues seen within the redress framework and suggest potential areas of reform to ensure the redress system works for stakeholders across the financial services industry. It's the second episode of the HSF FSR Brief and this time the subject is the ongoing motor finance commissions saga. Jon Ford, Michael Tan, and Jack Moore discuss what the FCA has been up to, what is going on with its review into the industry, the links to claims due to be heard in the Supreme Court, and what might happen next. In this first episode of the FSR Brief, Jon Ford and Michael Tan discuss the latest developments with the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) consultation on transparency in investigations (CP24/2 Part 2). They discuss whether the changes to the FCA's "Public Interest Framework" go far enough to address the significant concerns raised in relation to the FCA's proposal to name firms under regulatory investigation.

Jon Ford is a really delightful researcher that has put together some observations that are worth sharing. He goes to Monks mound in the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site for ever equinox and solstice. He observes the land and in that contemplation has priced together a little theory that I quite like that he calls "The Bird's Eye view"! We also talk about other stuff, owls and octopuses towards the end. There have been a few states that have done it right when it comes to the legalization of sports betting in the U.S. and Indiana was one of them. State Senator Jon Ford was the main sponsor of the bill, and he explains why sports betting has been so successful in Indiana. Then he moves on to talk about the upcoming push to legalize iGaming in Indiana, and also addresses why he believes the state's land-based industry is also in a good place. He spoke with GGB Publisher Roger Gros at the winter conference of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS), of which he is current president, at Resorts World Las Vegas in December.
In episode 19 of Martin Lycka's Safe Bet Show, it's a great pleasure and privilege to welcome Indiana State Senator Jon Ford on to the show. He represents District 38 of the great Hoosier State, having been first elected to the Indiana Senate back in 2014. Before running for office Ford was the president of All State Manufacturing. His main goal was to "focus on building the Wabash Valley's reputation as a quality place to study, work and live." Ford was a member of the Honey Creek Township Board. He was also the president of the Swope Art Museum and the Indiana Leadership Forum.
Did the Packers do enough to fix special teams? There aren't sufficient words in the English language to describe how underwhelming the teams unit was in 2021, ultimately costing the team a shot at the Super Bowl. They brought in a new special teams coordinator in Rich Bisaccia, and overhauled a majority of the player personnel. Listeners want to know... is it enough? They talk new free agent additions like Dallin Leavitt, Keisean Nixon, and punter Pat O'Donnell, potentially impactful draft picks in Romeo Doubs, Jon Ford, and Tariq Carpenter, but also discuss players who were around last year like Rico Gafford who might be ready to make a massive leap. Tune in to hear the conversation! On No Huddle Radio, hosts J.J. Lahey and Gil Martin give you in-depth analysis of what's happening with the Green Bay Packers. Get the latest news, injury updates and preview the next game with key matchups to look for and find out why we think the Pack will win or lose. Locked On Canes - Daily Podcast On Miami Hurricanes Football & Basketball
The Miami Hurricanes only had ONE player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. Nose tackle Jon Ford was selected with pick 234 of the seventh round by the Green Bay Packers, While this did continue Miami's impressive 48 year streak of having at least one player selected, it was Miami's worst NFL draft output since 1980. This is another major reason why Miami had to go out and replace Manny Diaz with Mario Cristobal, who has a proven track record of recruiting and developing top tier talent. Miami has players like Tyler Van Dyke, Will Mallory, Jaylen Knighton, and several others, who should be able to find improved positions in the 2023 draft (if the under-classmen declare, of course!).Host Alex Donno discusses why safety Bubba Bolden and WR Charleston Rambo were not selected and why teams will regret not taking a chance on them in the future. Bolden landed in Seattle as an undrafted free agent while Rambo wound up in Carolina. Receiver Mike Harley signed with the Browns.Donno also reacted to Inter Miami's new stadium venture being brought up as something that could potentially be shared with the University of Miami football team. Alex believes there are multiple better options available, including remaining long term at Hard Rock Stadium or allowing John Ruiz and other boosters to bankroll Miami's own stadium at Tropical Park. Becoming a tenant to a Major League Soccer team in a small stadium does not seem like the answer the Hurricanes should be looking for.Plus, Donno recaps the controversial NIL saga with basketball guard Isaiah Wong, who ultimately decides NOT to enter the transfer portal or renegotiate his NIL deal with Life Wallet. Why did this happen, and was Wong misrepresented by his agent? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

I was in Miami for a couple of days last week for Sellers Summit and the finals of 5 Minute Pitch. Without putting out any spoilers, we've already picked a winner this season. I'm excited to meet with this person again to fulfill that mentoring session that comes as part of the prize. For a show that's on its initial run, we've had many interesting business ideas go through. One of which was from Jon Ford. A Relaxing Hobby Turned Profitable Business A firefighter by trade, Jon's quest for a relaxing hobby has turned into a full-fledged business. He is the proud owner of SheaGarden Handmade, an online store that sells handmade soap. Jon's winning personality and passion for his product are proving to be quite a hit with customers. However, being a solopreneur with a full-time job can take its toll. In this episode, we identify Jon's main struggle and I provide tips on how he can get past that. Doing Marketing Right From producing to pricing his handmade soaps, Jon's got a lot on his plate. He wants to find a way to market his products more effectively. You'll often hear Dave and I talk about many different marketing strategies. But I'd like to emphasize that we don't use all of them. And this is the first tip I gave Jon - choose one or two of these to try out for your business. Tune in to the entire podcast for the full discussion and maybe learn a trick or two on how to leverage some out-of-the-box strategies to grow your own ecommerce store. If you're interested in getting onsite advice from Mike and have your business featured on the podcast, sign up for the EcomCrew Roadshow today!
