Is your portfolio built by a broker or a model? Don and Tom break down the surprisingly persistent patterns of old-school broker portfolios—loaded with local stocks, overpriced “index” funds, and actively managed everything—versus the growing adoption of model portfolios based on actual research (not just a hunch and a handshake). Along the way, they torch high-fee index fund imposters, answer smart listener questions on global diversification, CD ladders, tax traps in variable annuities, and even debate whether a Japanese WWII bomber should really be called “Jill.” Oh, and Tom reads a brutal Apple Podcast review… and takes it like a champ. 0:04 Dumb money habits and the rise of model portfolios 1:23 Bellevue vs Florida weather showdown 2:34 Classic broker-built portfolio ingredients 3:55 Sprinkling in overpriced “index” funds 5:50 What a model portfolio is (and isn't) 6:53 Structure vs speculation: why models matter 8:31 Global diversification as a simple model 9:18 The difference between advice and product-pushing 10:24 When “index” doesn't mean cheap: top offender list 11:55 The 2.33% RIDEX fund shame parade 13:02 The Jill bomber sidetrack takes flight 13:54 Listener Laura's AVDE allocation dilemma 15:40 Two-fund model: Avantis U.S. + international 17:00 Logistical pronunciation issues and Bolden software 18:42 Rate assumptions for planning software 19:35 Tom's humor gets roasted in a 5-star review 20:52 Listener Carol's CD ladder tax question 22:38 Timing vs safety: the truth about “dry powder” 24:36 Mitchell's $550K variable annuity dilemma 26:10 Why annuity gains aren't capital gains 27:01 Low-cost annuity, but still no step-up 28:11 The opaque, intentionally confusing nature of insurance 29:41 Scheduling complaints and Don's one-day-off fantasy 32:12 Programming note: no podcast on market holidays 34:04 Calls, questions, and Jill Bomber sign-off chaos Learn more about your ad choices. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 8th and final study session on Abraham Bolden's The Echo From Dealey Plaza. After tens of thousands of pages of classified documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy were released earlier this month, a House committee is now working to release thousands more pages on the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. All of these murders are connected - sometimes involving the same Suspected Racists. Last week, Mr. Bolden detailed being shackled in front of his wife Barbara and his offspring. He was taken to greater confinement and relocated to other incarceral facilities without warning. He's eventually moved to a psychiatric ward where he's presumed to be a little "crazy." Bolden saw another inmate killed and was confronted by a black inmate brandishing a butcher knife named "Kenny." Following his confrontation with this blade-wielding inmate, Bolden is admonished by his black counselors for being paranoid and not knowing when to keep quiet. Bolden castigates these black males - and even engages in some name-calling. We noted that he does not target White people with these sort of verbal assaults or direct criticisms. #WindyCity #WhistleBlower #TheCOWS16Years CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

Last week, Bolden detailed more Racist government shenanigans during his second trial. Judge Joseph Sam Perry closed the court during deliberations, but hung back to do a little verdict tampering. Of course, Bolden was found guilty. He nabbed a White attorney on his second appeal, and his new White counsel, Ray Smith, felt confident since a government witness admitted lying under oath - even admitted to having a "cheat sheet" to keep his lies organized. The new White appellate judge insisted repeatedly that Bolden received a "fair" trial. Two "fair" trials in fact. During the proceedings, the infamous Ed Hanrahan strong-armed Bolden's White lawyer just outside the courtroom. Smith said that Hanrahan threatened him and cursed him like a niggra-lover for representing Bolden. One more time: White people cannot be ignorant about Racism. They will get in trouble with other White people. #WindyCity #COINTELPRO #NoPoliticsOnTheJob #TheCOWS16Years CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. All of these murders are connected - sometimes involving the same Suspected Racists. Last week, Bolden details how Judge Joseph Sam Perry used his gavel and black-robed authority to neuter his attorney George Howard. Judge Perry tossed Bolden and Howard out of the court at one point to speak privately to the jury - likely about the shiftlessness and guilt of Bolden. The only reason, Bolden got a mistrial was because Ms. Anna B. Hightower, a black female, used her brain computer and refused to be kowtowed into voting guilty by the 10 other Whites on the jury (one juror was so called "hispanic"). Whites immediately schedule a second trial and made sure Judge Perry would be in charge of the rematch. Incidentally, this same Racist Suspect was on the bench for later trials related to the White Supremacist conspiracy to murder Black Panther Party legends Fred Hampton and Mark Clark in 1969. #WindyCity #TheCOWS16Years CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 5th study session on Abraham Bolden's The Echo From Dealey Plaza. This month, the House Oversight Committee's Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets heard testimony from Oliver Stone, Jefferson Morley, and Eugene DiEugenio. The proceedings revealed White CIA officers repeatedly lied under oath during several official hearings into the assassination of Pres. Kennedy. White CIA officers like James Angleton accessed 198 pages of classified information on Lee Harvey Oswald days before the 1963 murder in Dallas. The Task Force even released the CIA written report which flatly rejects the lone gunman theory that Oswald alone murdered the president. During last week's session, the Chicago trial against Mr. Bolden begins with a parade of people classified as black being called to testify to his misdeeds. Readers were especially struck by Richard Walters, an illiterate black male who worked as an "informant" for the secret service. He testified that he signed a statement attesting to Bolden's guilt and general niggardly nature. We pondered how you verify a written document or sign it if you can't read. Judge Joseph Sam Perry, Racist Suspect, stonewalled George Howard's every attempt to defend his client and, somehow, the transcript to this important trial is incomplete. #GoneToTexas #TheCOWS16Years CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

White officers searched his residence, and, according to Bolden's wife Deborah, stole $400 cash. They left no receipt. Bolden spoke with the press about the specious charges against him. His black father phoned him long distance from St. Louis, Missouri to tell his son Abraham to shut up. A sentiment Bolden's black Chicago attorney George Howard vigorously endorsed. #GoneToTexas #ChickensComingHomeToRoost #TheCOWS16Years CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 3rd study session on Abraham Bolden's The Echo From Dealey Plaza. Last month, President Donald J. Trump dumped thousands of previously classified documents related to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. So far, no arrests have been made, and we're still under the System of White Supremacy. But we'll use the renewed interest in one of the most well known true crime subjects of all time. The late Neely Fuller Jr. said the assassination of John F. Kennedy was the most shocking, traumatizing event he ever witnessed - more so than the 9/11 attacks or the election of Barack Obama. Last week, Bolden detailed being shopped back to Chicago under suspicious circumstances. Once back in Illinois, Bolden is sequestered in a small, hot room and held under White supervision without food and water. Slowly, he realizes that he is being accused of wrong doing and held under suspicion. The Race Soldiers announced that they planned to search Bolden's property. Attempting to be helpful, Bolden consents to his residence being searched and offers to aid the officers' "fishing" effort. The White officers charge Bolden with not being a "team player" regarding his reports that White agents's lack of professionalism and consumption alcohol likely contributed to the assassination of Pres. Kennedy. #GoneToTexas #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

Last week, Bolden detailed his family origins in Missouri, which included his privileged black male fasting so that his 6 children could eat. Bolden's famished black papa believed in corporal punishment. JFK personally met and encouraged Bolden to join the Secret Service. Once a part of the high profile agency, Bolden encountered Racist Jokes a plenty, and anti-black colleagues who made it plain that they despise people classified as black. Importantly, Bolden stresses that their was a widespread culture of Racism, alcohol consumption, and unprofessionalism amongst the White male agents responsible for President Kennedy's life. #GoneToTexas #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

Apart from Christ, we live with a divided heart. And we can't live God's story with a divided heart, so he does a work to give us a whole heart, to live with integrity by his power. It's a work we can't do on our own, but we need it to find the glorious story God has for us in the King and the Kingdom. Check out this great conversation with Ash Bolden around Zechariah chapter 3.
