He hosted the Pandemic Podcast and is now the host of the DAG podcast. In this conversation, Dan talks about his journey working in the corporate world for a large multinational bank, to a personal development and business coach, to a podcaster and activist. Dan and I dive into his journey from the corporate world to becoming a well-known content creator and activist. We chat about how his podcasting career has evolved, his impact on entrepreneurs, and his challenges while shifting from corporate life to coaching and personal development. We also get into the role of economics in understanding how society is structured, how the Pandemic Podcast came to be, and Dan's activism—especially around initiatives like the Road to Geneva and the Free Humanity movement. As we continue, we explore the complexities behind global goals, the role of protests in activism, and why building solidarity within communities is so important. We also touch on the upcoming People's Reset Summit, focusing on how it's all about finding solutions and empowering communities. Throughout the conversation, we highlight the need for diverse perspectives in the freedom movement and feature some key insights from speakers who will be part of the summit. Initially, I was sceptical of The People's Reset Conference, but my interest was piqued after three supporters (Jack, Jay, and Deborah) recommended that I attend. After speaking to Dan about the podcast, I decided I would like to attend. I was motivated when Dan explained that the event focuses on solutions rather than the problems we see worldwide today. I'll be attending on Saturday, September 28th, and Sunday, September 29th, in Bath. If you want to attend, book tickets at the following link , and remember to give me a hug. Most of this was recorded over a year or more ago. It's strange to hear it now, but I also captured how much this experience made us all feel a lot of feelings. It's worth hearing, if in a different context than we might have at the time. This is a public episode. Yes indeed, we still record this show! Kate had a scheduling conflict, but D.J. runs the show (long as usual when he is by himself) and is joined by Joshua Gupton and Trevor Everette of The Two Pointers Podcast! The Two Pointers Podcast is the latest member of the Stadium Scene Network and they have easily a top five epic story about how the two of them met dating back to elementary school. It's very clear their love for all things college and pro basketball led to the creation and the success of this show, which is about to reach the 100-episode milestone. We talk about how they were a "Pandemic Podcast", although they started much later than the usual podcasts, some early luck with the pilot episode that is the exception to the rule, and how they kept things going after most of the podcasts created at the start of the pandemic shut down and were never heard from again. We close out the show talking about a really good piece of advice that they wish they knew when they were starting their show. Be sure to check out this new episode and don't forget to check out The Two Pointers Podcast where you download your favorite podcasts. In year three of the pandemic, most of the world is settling into a “new normal.” What this new normal will ultimately look like is still to be determined. The one thing that virtually everyone can agree on is that the COVID-19 pandemic has permanently altered work expectations for the foreseeable future.Justin Honore, the host of the Verizon Partner Network podcast, sat down with Mike Caralis, Vice President of Business Sales at Verizon Business, to discuss the digital transformation of small- and medium-sized businesses since COVID-19 first hit in 2019-2020.The change in work environments and the expectations of both employees and customers continue to evolve to meet current needs. Caralis pointed out that the evolution is really being driven by employee needs, sharing a story of how the pandemic let him stay home and connect more deeply with his children after years of traveling and even living out of state for work.“Now that we are opening back up, I don't think it's just me saying, ‘hey how do we have a better balance?' I think the entire world is saying how do we have a better-integrated life as we are looking to work and have a family and live at the same time,” shared Caralis. While employees struggle to find a better work-life balance, employers are also trying to find ways to continue providing great experiences to keep workers engaged and entice them back to the office. In the meantime, companies need to continue supporting employees and their customers with secure networks at home.Caralis also noted that with “small and medium businesses, mobility and flexibility are now as important as healthcare is. What business can now interact without mobility and flexibility in it?” Clearly, the future of small- and medium-sized businesses since the onset of the pandemic is paving the way to a workplace revolution more focused on the employee experience. As far as the customer experience direction, companies will have to find ways to bring in innovative and even immersive experiences so that there is a learning and educational aspect to those experiences. However, on an important note, security and trust within the different process flows must also be top priority.
For two years now, we've been living through the Covid-19 pandemic. A century ago the world was consumed by another deadly virus, commonly known as The Spanish Influenza. Spreading worldwide mainly in 1918 and 1919, it is estimated that one third of the world's population became infected with the virus. Approximately 50 million people died, and in the U.S. the death toll was around 675,000. David Reamer is an Alaska historian who has been researching this particular period of the state's history. Since the onset of Covid-19, he has written articles for the Anchorage Daily News about the Spanish Influenza and other public health crises throughout the years. ATMI senior producer Quinn White spoke with Reamer about his research. He talked about how the virus affected urban and rural areas differently, how Alaskans responded to subsequent public health outbreaks, and the stark parallels to what we're all living through today. They spoke on January 26th, 2022. Hosted by Ada Bjorkman. Music by Kendrick Whiteman and Devin Shreckengost. Maps are a fundamental part of our daily lives. From GPS apps, to tracking the weather, to keeping up with the spread of Covid-19 around the world. So for this episode we're going to talk about cartography and how it is deeply entwined with our lives and our history. Our guest is John Cloud, a historian of cartography working for the Arctic Studies Center of the Anthropology Department at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. Much of his work involves the history of mapping Alaska. ATMI producer Grady Cutchins spoke with him about the necessity of historic maps, the role of maps in pandemics, and what is lost when technological advancements change the way we interact with the world around us. This week, Ellie talks to entrepreneur, Elevate Media founder, and host of the Pandemic Podcast, Dan Astin Gregory, one of the foremost voices of reason during the last twelve months. Dan joins Ellie to discuss his driving purpose behind the Pandemic Podcast, why we all need to ask the hard question of those who supply information, and how we can make lasting, impactful change in the world by listening to the guidance of our inner voice. KEY TAKEAWAYS Entrepreneurs have a natural curiosity about the world, and a tendency to want to take apart a problem and look at it from a different angle. We should always be brave enough to ask the hard questions, especially when the answers are ones that dictate the ways in which we live. Our perception of reality and fact, are shaped by the type of content we consume, and by the media organisations we choose to follow. The truth is never clear cut. We may not always agree with the reasons behind protesters, but we must absolutely ensure that the right to protest is protected. It is a vital tenet of free speech. BEST MOMENTS 'Entrepreneurs have a natural curiosity about the world' 'It's okay for the adults to suffer for a while, but children? That's not okay!' 'Dan, if you don't step up and lead here now, when are you actually ever going to do that?' 'What we've lacked in the mainstream media is open, scientific debate' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Dan Astin Gregory Twitter - https://twitter.com/danjgregory Dan Astin Gregory - https://www.danjgregory.com/pandemic/ Dan Astin Gregory LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/danjgregory/ ABOUT THE HOST The On A Mission Podcast brings you Ellie Mckay's no holds barred chats with some of the UK's top business leaders, entrepreneurs, celebrities, athletes, top thought leaders, influencers and mindset experts. Post By: Adam Turteltaub NAVEX Global recently released its 2021 Risk & Compliance Incident Management Benchmark Report. It is a document rich in data about what's going on with helplines and incident management. To understand lessons learned from the data we invited Carrie Penman, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer from NAVEX, to join us. She reports that there is finally an answer to a question many have wondered: what has the pandemic's impact been on helpline call volume. Interestingly, Carrie reports that overall call volume declined. April and May 2020 saw the steepest drops, not surprisingly since that was the time when businesses were closing quickly and employees were adjusting. But, she points out, it was not just a two-month phenomenon. Even at the end of 2020 volume had not returned to pre-pandemic levels. Drilling down into the data there were significant variations by industry, with differences caused by whether organizations had switched to a work-from-home mode or had large number of essential workers still on the job site. But what about the quality of the calls? Carrie reports that the substantiation rate of 42% was in line with previous years. There was one exception, though: environmental health & safety. Substantiation rates were lower, and the number of reports increased substantially, likely due to COVID-19 related concerns. Interestingly, 76% of EH&S reports were anonymous vs. just 54% of business integrity claims, most likely not out of fear but because complaints about things like not wearing a mask where a call back was not likely necessary. The report also includes news that the median days between incident observed and reported increased from 21 to 28 days. That's troubling for investigators given that memories fade over time. Finally, we discuss the perennial concern about whether anonymous reports can be trusted. The data showed that anonymous reports were substantiated at a much lower rate: just 35% vs. 50% of reports with a name attached Listen in to learn more, including some potentially troubling numbers about retaliation.
