Motorola Solutions today announced it is opening a new Research and Development Centre in Cork which is expected to generate 200 highly skilled jobs. The team will be focused on designing software for the company's comprehensive land mobile radio (LMR) portfolio, with plans for expansion across other technologies in the future. Following investments of more than $12 billion in R&D and acquisitions over the past decade, Motorola Solutions' ecosystem of technologies is centred on safety and security, with LMR representing a foundational core. The company has deployed more than 13,000 LMR networks worldwide, trusted by governments and enterprises for highly secure communications designed to work in the most extreme conditions. Modernised with broadband and advanced data applications, LMR remains at the forefront of providing public safety agencies with the communications they rely on and need. "Decade after decade, the durability of our mission-critical LMR technology helps protect those who protect us all," said Greg Brown, chairman and CEO, Motorola Solutions. "Our new centre in Cork will contribute to advancing our future vision for LMR, while building upon the collective impact of our more than 20,000 employees who are innovating what's next for our customers around the world." The investment is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. "Motorola Solutions is an iconic American company known for its work over many decades to support public safety and first responders," said U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Claire D. Cronin. "Today's announcement of its new Research and Development Centre in Cork marks a significant step forward in the company's commitment to Ireland and in further expanding its innovation footprint in technology that plays a vital role around the world to help keep people safe today and in the future. It also recognizes the highly skilled talent in Ireland and further bolsters the strong trade and investment relationships between the United States and Ireland." The new R&D Centre, planned for Cork's vibrant city centre, complements Motorola Solutions' existing footprint in Ireland, which is focused on delivering the emergency services' secure communications network, Ireland's National Digital Radio Service. "It's fantastic news that Motorola Solutions has chosen Cork City for their new global R&D Centre," said Peter Burke TD, Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment. "Regional investment is a priority for Government and the creation of 200 highly skilled jobs in R&D is a significant boost for the region. The new Centre will be a welcome addition to the already thriving city centre and will provide exciting new work opportunities for technology talent. It is encouraging to see new investments in R&D technologies, which is very much in line with our National AI and Digital strategies. I want to thank Motorola Solutions for their continued investment in Ireland and I wish all the team the best with this new venture." "This investment decision by Motorola Solutions to select Ireland and Cork as the location for their new global R&D Centre is an important vote of confidence in the technology sector," said Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland. "The company's plans to create 200 new jobs demonstrates Ireland's ability to win strategic investments from global leaders looking for a location that can provide a talented and skilled workforce and a track record in delivering innovative, and pro-business environment for multinational companies." The company embraces a people-first philosophy and encourages its 20,000+ employees to share their unique perspectives to influence new ideas, tackle challenges and make an impact. Nightcat is a fictional multimedia character created by comic book company Marvel Comics in partnership with record label LeFrak-Moelis Records (LMR). The character was a fictionalised version of LMR artist Jacqueline "Jackie" Tavares, who functioned as the model for the comic character. Jackie Tavares is a 19-year old growing up in Queens with her parents, dreaming of being a singer. Her father is an undercover police officer, and the stressful situation causes her mother to slip into fatal alcoholism. Her father enrols her in college, and forces her to swear to abandon the idea of becoming an entertainer. In order to pursue her desires to be a singer, she devises the persona of superheroine Nightcat for her on-stage performances. As Nightcat she wins a talent contest and a recording deal with LMR Records, but blunders into a drug deal at the studio, earning the enmity of major dealer Amanda Gideon - who her father is investigating. Gideon has Nightcat used as a guinea pig for a new designer drug. Instead of killing Jackie, the drug grants her cat-like powers. However, her father is killed during her escape and Jackie vows to use her powers to avenge him - also creating a custom car called the Cat-illac. She storms Gideon's headquarters and battles the ringleader on top of the skyscraper. Gideon is left dangling from Nightcat's hair, and when she tries to pull the hero over Jackie uses her claws to cut the lock, sending the villain to her death. After a successful concert she is met by a journalist, announcing that "the cat has just begin to prowl." Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Recognised by the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Motorola Solutions has established a cyber threat Information Sharing and Analysis Organisation (ISAO) to provide public safety agencies the capabilities they need to defend against attacks.Since January 2022, Motorola Solutions' Public Safety Threat Alliance observed 350+ cyber attacks impacting public safety organisations worldwide, often resulting in downtime of critical services. Cyber attacks against public safety agencies increased in both 2021 and 2022, with 2022 seeing a 700 percent increase in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks for public safety organisations and a 179 percent increase in hacktivist activity. In many Australian states and territories, emergency services use the Motorola Solutions Land Mobile Radio (LMR) communication networks and devices as well as their managed services to help maintain reliable voice and data communications and keep their technology securely and optimised, 24 x 7.However, LMR networks and other critical infrastructures can also be targeted by threat actors (e.g. critical infrastructures including utilities being targeted in the war in Ukraine)Motorola Solutions continues to grow and invest in its portfolio of communications, software and video security products including our cyber security offerings. The ActiveEye platform monitors about 1M cyber attack events on public safety networks each month, with 98 percent auto-triaged by artificial intelligence, and the rest looked at by cybersecurity experts on our team to determine how to mitigate risks.Among Australian customers already using these cyber services are the NSW Telco Authority for which Motorola Solutions are providing a comprehensive suite of public safety services for PSN, including network lifecycle upgrades and 24 x 7 cybersecurity, helping to keep this mission-critical technology up-to-date, secure and performing reliably in any situation. For more information and to get involved, visit Public Safety Threat Alliance -https://www.motorolasolutions.com/psta #motorola #cybersecurity #mysecuritytv #publicsafety #motorolasolutions

A new research paper was published in Oncotarget's Volume 14 on January 31, 2023, entitled, “Novel inflammation-combined prognostic index to predict survival outcomes in patients with gastric cancer.” In vivo inflammatory responses are involved in cancer growth, invasion and metastasis, and the involvement of systemic inflammatory responses and the surrounding microenvironment is intricately intertwined. In this recent study, researchers Noriyuki Hirahara, Takeshi Matsubara, Shunsuke Kaji, Hikota Hayashi, Yohei Sasaki, Koki Kawakami, Ryoji Hyakudomi, Tetsu Yamamoto, and Yoshitsugu Tajima from Shimane University Faculty of Medicine and Matsue Red Cross Hospital in Japan focused on the lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and devised an inflammation-combined prognostic index (ICPI) as a prognostic marker of cancer-specific survival (CSS). “We reviewed the clinicopathological data of 480 patients with gastric cancer undergoing curative laparoscopic gastrectomy between 2009 and 2019. This study examined the significance of LMR, NLR, PLR, and ICPI as cancer-specific prognostic markers.” In univariate analysis, tumor diameter, histological differentiation, pathological tumor-node-metastasis (pTNM) stage, LMR, NLR, PLR, C-reactive protein (CRP) level, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and postoperative chemotherapy were significantly associated with CSS. In multivariate analysis, pTNM stage and CEA were the independent risk factors for CSS, although LMR, NLR, and PLR were not the independent risk factors for CSS. The ICPI formula was constructed using hazard ratios for three inflammation-based biomarkers with worse prognosis identified in the univariate analysis: LMR

Real estate is intertwined with the economy in so many ways, and real estate agents can sometimes have a hard time connecting these external factors with the home buying process. Our guest, Josh Cadillac believes in closing customers for life, which means building expertise on a deeper level that goes beyond the specifics and square footage of a home. When you give your clients context within the home buying process, not only does it help their future, but it means you're on a path to creating a lifelong customer.   [3:00] Josh and his background in real estate. [5:30] Josh talks about his motto, “Close for Life.” [6:45] It's an important part of Josh's life to do work that you're proud of, to have a life you're proud of. [7:40] Diving./, into the actual raw product real estate agents sell. [10:20] Sometimes there's a disconnect between real estate agent and customer. Why is that? [14:55] Real estate agents need to make the case on why a customer should trust them. [20:45] Sometimes just talking to your customer about the market and reciting facts can provide a lot of insight and trust with them. [25:45] Older real estate agents need to understand that the world, and the market, are much different than when they first started selling properties. They need to provide context to the younger homeowner. [32:50] Homeowners in distress still can grab an amazing price for their property. A real estate agent has to set the frame right so that they get the most out of the property. [33:25] We are not in a 2008 bubble. There are not a lot of people in negative equity positions. [34:00] Why do investors love real estate in times of high inflation? [39:35] Real estate has always been a good hedge against inflation. [44:00] Josh shares his thoughts on motivation and how you can motivate your customer to be more excited about the home buying process. [50:35] We need to stop trying to close deals and start trying to close customers for life.   Tweetables:   “A path to a fulfilled life is to take every part of your life, and have it /./.be something you do with excellence.” — Josh   “Because of the inflation we're seeing, real estate tends to be more attractive to investors. The reason for that is real estate tends to appreciate when there's inflation and rents tend to go up.” — Josh   “A house tends to be the perfect hedge for inflation. If you're renting, your rent will go up, but your wages usually won't go up. Wages tend to trail inflation.” — Josh   Guest Links:   Joshcadillac.com Josh on LinkedIn Nar.realtor/research-and-statistics   Additional Links:   Microcourses found at Learning.REALTOR   Crdpodcast.com   Learning.REALTOR for NAR's Online Education Training4RE.com — List of Classroom Courses from NAR and its affiliates   crd@nar.realtor   Host Information: Monica Neubauer Speaker/Podcaster/REALTOR® Monica@MonicaNeubauer.com MonicaNeubauer.com FranklinTNBlog.com   Monica's Facebook Page Facebook.com/Monica.Neubauer Instagram Instagram.com/MonicaNeubauerSpeaks   Additional Bio:   Joshua Cadillac ACE, CCIM, CDPE, MCNE, CRS, CRB, ABR®, GRI, RSPS, CSSA, CCFA, CIAS, MRETE, e-Pro, SFR®, BPO-R, CFA Master, TRC, LMB, AHWD, C-Rep, M-rep, CPMS, CIPS, DPP, PSA, ASP, SRS, LGC, CAM, LHI, Leed AP, RRP, LMA, LMR   Prior to entering the real estate industry as an agent, Josh was a commercial real estate investor and business owner of restaurants and other related companies. He started in real estate full time in 2008 and within the first two years, earned his broker license and many of the most prestigious real estate-related designations that exist. After a few years, Josh transitioned into a leadership role at the brokerage where he worked, assisting, training, and even mentoring agents to help them achieve success and reach their full potential in real estate. During this time, he learned the mistakes that many agents make that successful agents avoid and developed his philosophy of “not just closing deals but closing customers for life.”   Investors are one of Joshua's specialties and one of the many clients he enjoys working with. Joshua has a robust knowledge of the financial aspect of real estate and has worked as an investor himself, successfully flipping numerous properties both distressed and non-distressed. Josh took his passion for investing and helping agents close more deals (and customers) they already had and put together the ACE 2-day training course. Recognizing the tremendous lack of financial literacy that exists in popular culture he also wrote an easy-to-understand guide to how money works called The Roadmap to the American Dream.   Since then Josh has written several courses on how to achieve excellence in the various parts of the real estate business. He continues to work with clients in buying and selling their property, honing his skills, and making sure the information he provides is the most accurate and relevant it can be for the agents he teaches.   When he isn't busy closing deals and teaching, Josh enjoys a number of interests and hobbies including writing, ballroom dancing, reading, playing board games, watching a great movie, and traveling the world

Beyond that, the non-profit has its eyes on owning and developing land and projects to benefit the broader South Stockton community. Today's podcast episode is all about the KISS Principle.   Everybody has a different way or thought process on how things should be done.   If you are just getting started with the hobby, or you have been in a hobby for a very long time and trying to learn about something new or trying to clean up something you have done, you can get lost in the woods.   Today's podcast gives you permission to take a step back and come at your setup from a different perspective.    What You Need To Know Radio scanning is a hobby we need to permit ourselves to do to our best abilities or on time restrictions. We have to deal with fitting it in after work or a quick weekend project before taking the kids or the family out somewhere. You should not put off a project just because you can't do it perfectly right now. Do what you can and build upon it at a later date.  This is a radio hobby. Enjoy it, and learn from what you've done and feel free to accept any mistakes as a way of learning about the hobby. If you are going to put up an antenna: You should ground it, but the world won't end if you don't do it right away. At a bare minimum, I recommend sinking a ground rod running from the ground rod to the antenna's mast and seeing what the instructions say for your antenna. You can always go back and ground things after putting the antenna up. Splitting atennas: The best way to split antenna and get into multiple scanners is to use a multi-coupler. TV splitter is not so great because you take a loss on every port, but they still get the job done if you are willing to take the loss. Y splitters are not so great because you can change the impedance, but if it works for you right now, then do what works for you right now. Coax: LMR 400 is a low loss 50-ohm coax cable. It works well on high frequencies and in high frequencies that don't have 50 Ohms of impedance loss. RG6 will get you up and running at a fraction of the price of LMR 400, but it's got 75 Ohm of impedance. If using RG-6 gets your antenna to your radio right now, go for it. You can always upgrade the coax at a later date or when you can afford to do so. External Antennas: The way we are using our scanners is changing with technology because many of these trunk radio systems are built for 97% or better or equivalent portable used by public safety. If you are already receiving what you want to hear with great reception, you may not need an external antenna at this time. Building scan lists on a new radio: Whenever you are setting up a new scanner for the first time, and you want to test out something, just put in a system, a site, and a wild card to see if we can hear anything on the trunk system. This way, at least we know that the setup is fine. Once you have got the trunk system receiving and following a system, you can start adding talk groups. Additionally: It never hurts to buy a radio and sell it. Find out what you like and upgrade if you want.  If you need to sell a radio to afford the new radio, then go for it! If one radio is good enough for you, stick with the one radio. You can have multiple radio as you grow into the hobby. You will learn what you need as you invest more time into scanning. Maybe you're not going to buy the best thing out of the box because it's too much money for you, but you can find something else that will fit the bill. You can buy software-defined radios that lets you do HF, sideband, AM, and FM   ====================================

Last week, the U.S. House voted to pass two NCBA-supported pieces of legislation that are critical to providing producers with greater transparency in the cattle markets.Chrissy Wozniak sits down with NCBA's Tanner Beymer to learn more about what the passing of these bills means for the industry. The House voted 418-9 to advance H.R. 5290, introduced by House Agriculture Committee Chairman David Scott (D-GA). This legislation, which was supported by Ranking Member Glenn "G.T." Thompson (R-PA) and unanimously approved by the Committee, would extend authorization for livestock mandatory reporting (LMR) through September 30, 2022.The authorization for LMR — the most important tool cattle producers have for understanding transactions and trends in the cattle markets — is currently set to expire along with federal funding on February 18, 2022.By an overwhelming vote of 411-13, the House also passed the Cattle Contract Library Act of 2021. NCBA secured the introduction of this bipartisan legislation in October, led by Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX). “The fact that House Agriculture Committee Chairman Scott and Ranking Member Thompson have both been vocal champions for LMR reauthorization is yet another indication of the broad-base support this measure has among producers across the country. LMR is absolutely essential to fair, competitive, and transparent cattle markets. We appreciate Chairman Scott's leadership, and the heavy engagement we have seen from both sides of the committee on this issue. We also thank Rep. Johnson and Rep. Cuellar for their work to equip producers with vital market data through a cattle contract library,” said NCBA President Jerry Bohn. The creation of a cattle contract library and the reauthorization of LMR are both widely supported across the cattle and beef industry. When livestock groups met in Phoenix earlier this year to identify common goals and priorities, those two measures were agreed upon as urgent.NCBA left that meeting and immediately set to work advancing these proposals. We upheld our commitment to the industry, even when R-CALF changed their tune and refused to support these viable, popular solutions. Background NCBA has long advocated for increased transparency in the cattle and beef supply chain. In October 2021, NCBA Vice President and South Dakota rancher Todd Wilkinson testified before the House Agriculture Committee and underscored the need for greater transparency in live cattle markets. In August 2021, NCBA succeeded in pushing USDA to make more market data publicly available. The agency began publishing a new daily report on the foundational prices used in cattle market formulas, grids, and contracts, and a new weekly report on the volume of cattle purchased at each different level of pricing. In June 2021, NCBA led a letter with the support of more than 36 state affiliate groups urging Congress to act on the reauthorization of LMR. Last week the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) welcomed the introduction of the Cattle Contract Library Act, led by Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX). Tanner Beymer of the NCBA sat down to talk to Chrissy Wozniak about the bill. This bipartisan bill would establish a cattle contract library within USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA-AMS), equipping cattle producers with the market data they need to make informed business decisions and exert greater leverage in negotiations with major meatpackers. The cattle contract library is widely supported by industry groups and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, and the introduction of this legislation comes after more than a year of NCBA pushing for the creation of the library. "After more than a year of upheaval, facing everything from extreme drought to supply chain disruptions, many cattle producers have been backed against a wall. We need to act urgently to provide them with relief," said NCBA President Jerry Bohn. "There is no single, silver bullet solution to the wide variety of needs among our diverse membership, but lawmakers can start by focusing on viable solutions that have broad-base support across the industry. The cattle contract library is one such solution, and it will help our producers command more leverage in negotiations with the packers. We appreciate the work of Congressman Johnson and Congressman Cuellar to move the ball forward on this urgent issue." Earlier this month, NCBA Vice President and South Dakota rancher Todd Wilkinson testified before the House Agriculture Committee and underscored the need for greater transparency in cattle markets. One of the solutions he advocated for was the creation of the cattle contract library, as well as full reauthorization of Livestock Mandatory Reporting (LMR). Background: NCBA has long advocated for increased transparency in the cattle and beef supply chain. LMR is the legislative mandate that requires large meat processors to regularly report information on their transactions, such as the price they pay for livestock and the volume of purchases. In May 2021, NCBA met with American Farm Bureau Federation, Livestock Marketing Association, National Farmers Union, R-CALF and U.S. Cattlemen's Association to discuss urgent concerns and the need for a cattle contract library was one of three priorities agreed upon by these disparate groups. The introduction of the Cattle Contract Library Act follows months of NCBA engagement to ensure Members of Congress understand the most urgent needs facing cattle producers, the complex cattle market conditions influencing these outcomes, and the risks of adopThe Women in Agribusiness (WIA) Summit annually convenes over 800 of the country's female agribusiness decision-makers. Matt is a casualty of the contemporary language and gets ALL bound up on the phrase “pussy-foot.” Shelly is NOT pussy-footing around, even when fumbling with breakers in the basement. Matt hates a pleat, and the fellas break down the suspenders in this minute. 22 minutes is a long time to be holding up a pen. Shelly is blasting his delts. Bill breaks down what exactly is the “friendly end” of a pen. Harriet and Blah Blah are VERY uneasy about the salesman statue sitting at their kitchen table. It's like pulling teeth for Matt, attempting to get Bill to apologize. Bill, as usual, prematurely wants to end the minute. Matt wants the new jingle. Bill shares some more theater stuff but this time he saw it in a moving picture house. The boys slip in one of the shortest housekeeping segments ever, and follow it up with a WWTP that takes them all over New York City and into your living room, circa 1980. The fellas have a blast recreating the WTF interview.
