The Proteas' disappointing exit from the ICC T20 World Cup, while still a shock to the system of many, probably exhibited various signs of happening. One of those signs is simply how the majority of the squad underperformed. Host Carl Lewis and cricket punter Lwanele Poswayo give their verdict. Host Carl Lewis and cricket punter Lwanele Poswayo preview the big group 2 ICC T20 World Cup match between South Africa and Pakistan in Sydney.   South Africa's batting line-up is unlikely to change as long as they're winning, which probably means that there's still no room for Reeza Hendricks. The only consideration for them is whether to bring back Tabraiz Shamsi in place of one of the quicks, which could leave Lungi Ngidi on the sidelines.   South Africa: : (possible) 1 Quinton de Kock (wk), 2 Temba Bavuma (capt), 3 Rilee Rossouw, 4 Aiden Markram, 5 David Miller, 6 Tristan Stubbs, 7 Wayne Parnell, 8 Keshav Maharaj, 9 Anrich Nortje 10 Lungi Ngidi/Tabraiz Shamsi, 11 Kagiso Rabada.   Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the match with a knee injury so Pakistan's line-up will have atleast one change. Asif Ali was dropped after the India match but may be brought back in to the XI unless Fakhar is ruled out of the tournament entirely, in which case Mohammad Haris could be brought in as a player replacement.   Pakistan: 1 Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 2 Babar Azam (capt), 3 Shan Masood, 4 Asif Ali, 5 Iftikhar Ahmed, 6 Shadab Khan, 7 Mohammed Nawaz, 8 Mohammed Wasim, 9 Shaheen Shah Afridi, 10 Haris Rauf, 11 Naseem Shah. Pitch and conditions This match will be played on the same pitch as the Sri Lanka-New Zealand game, where Trent Boult took a career-best 4 for 13. There's expected to be something in it for the quicks but also plenty of opportunities to score big. Sydney is the only venue at the tournament where teams have breached 200. The best news is that there's no chance of rain at all, with the temperatures in the mid-teens. Stats and trivia Pakistan have a 3-0 win record against South Africa at the T20 World Cup, even though they last met in 2012. The average first innings score in Sydney at this tournament so far is 188, the highest of the venues used.

Host Carl Lewis and cricket punter Lwanele Poswayo review the Proteas' massive win over India in the T20 World Cup. An astonishing display of fast bowling from South Africa's Lungi Ngidi and half-centuries from David Miller and Aiden Markram saw South Africa to a nail-biting five-wicket victory against India in their T20 World Cup match at the Perth Stadium on Sunday. India collapsed to 49-5 after choosing to bat first before recovering to a total of 133-9 but South Africa stumbled to 40-3 at the halfway stage of the run chase before a fourth-wicket stand of 76 saw them accelerate to victory with just two balls to spare with Miller keeping cool under intense pressure to finish unbeaten on 59 from 46 balls with four fours and three sixes. Suryakumar Yadav fought a brilliant, lone battle for India with a remarkable 68 from just 40 balls (6x4, 3x6) while the next highest score was just 15.   South Africa's four-man pace attack complimented each other impressively and, although it was man-of-the-match Ngidi who claimed 4-29 the other three quicks all contributed to India's demise on a fast, bouncy pitch in the Western Australian capital. South Africa struggled desperately for the first 10 overs of the run-chase limping to 40-3 having been 3-2 and 24-3 with left-arm swing bowler, Arshdeep Singh, claiming wickets with his first and third deliveries. Quinton de Kock (1) edged an outswinger to second slip and Rilee Rossouw (0) was trapped lbw by an inswinger. Captain Temba Bavuma again struggled with 10 from 15 balls before attempting a ramp shot against Mohammad Shami and edging into the gloves of Dinesh Karthik. Markram and Miller stabilised the innings but at drinks, there were still 94 runs required from the final 10 overs. A change of gear from Markram saw 16 runs accrue from the 11th over from Hardik Pandya and 17 from the 14th bowled by Ashwin to seemingly put South Africa back on track with 35 runs required from the final five overs with seven wickets in hand. But a mistimed pull against Pandya to Yadav at deep midwicket saw Markram depart for 52 from 41 balls with six fours and a six. Offspinner Ashwin started the 18th over with South Africa requiring 24 runs from the final three overs but Miller calmed South African nerves – and kept his own – to hit two sixes back over the bowler's head to reduce the target to 12 runs from 12 balls before Tristan Stubbs (6) was trapped lbw. Earlier India openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul struck a legside six apiece but otherwise adopted a cautious approach before Rohit (15 off 14 balls) spliced a hook shot against Ngidi's second delivery lobbing a tame return catch to the bowler. Ngidi struck again with his sixth ball when Rahul (9 off 14 balls) edged a fierce lifter to Markram at deep slip with the total at 26-2 after five overs. There was no respite with Virat Kohli (12) failing to control a hook shot in Ngidi's next over and offering a simple catch to Kagiso Rabada at fine leg before Deepak Hooda (0) was beaten for pace by Anrich Nortje and edged to ‘keeper de Kock. India's top-order disintegration was completed in Ngidi's third over – the ninth of the innings – when Hardik Pandya (2) mistimed another hook shot to fine leg where Rabada claimed a magnificent, diving second catch of the innings. Dinesh Karthik contributed just six from 15 balls to a sixth-wicket stand of 52 with Yadav before slashing a Wayne Parnell delivery to Rossouw at cover and there were further wickets for Parnell when Ashwin (7) heaved a slower ball to mid-on for Rabada's third catch and Yadav miscued a clever slower ball to Keshav Maharaj at mid-off. Parnell, bowling two overs in the Power Play and two at the end of the innings, returned a sensational analysis of 4-1-15-3 while Nortje (4-0-23-1) and Rabada (4-0-26-0) did their jobs superbly. The victory moves South Africa above India to the top of the log and victory against Pakistan in Sydney on Thursday will all but secure their place in the semifinals.   INDIA: Rohit Sharma (captain), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh SOUTH AFRICA: Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma (captain), Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi

Sunrisers Eastern Cape won a fierce bidding war against MI Cape Town and Johannesburg Super Kings to snap up their homegrown star-in-the-making.   Uncapped 24-year-old batter Donavon Ferreira, who plays for Titans in the South African domestic circuit, created a big stir. Having listed his base price at Rand 175,000 (USD 10,000 approx.), Ferreira, who also bowls a bit and keeps wicket, was eventually snapped up by Super Kings for Rand 5.5 million (USD 310,000 approx.) in the accelerated round of the auction. The winning bid came after some chaos, as Paarl Royals and Pretoria Capitals both tried to outbid Super Kings but were forced to pull out as they didn't have much left in their purse at that point and had other spots still to fill - if they were allowed to keep bidding, they would have run out of the money needed to fill their quota of 17 players. Ferreira has played 19 T20s so far, and boasts a strike rate of 148.26 and an average of 54.85.   The Jansen brothers - Duan and Marco - were also in demand, with Marco joining Stubbs at Sunrisers for Rand 6.1 million (USD 344,000 approx.) and Duan going to MI for Rand 3.3 million (USD 186,000 approx.). Marco is already part of the Sunrisers franchise in the IPL, while Duan was recently with the Mumbai Indians development squad that toured the UK.   Kolpak-returnee Rilee Rossouw, who has played T20 cricket around the world, also hit paydirt, with Capitals forking out Rand 6.9 million (USD 389,000 approx.) for him. Wayne Parnell, another Kolpak returnee, also triggered a bidding war, which was won by Capitals too. They outbid Super Kings and got the left-arm seam-bowling allrounder for Rand 5.6 million (USD 316,000 approx).   However, there were no takers for South Africa's T20I captain Temba Bavuma and Test captain Dean Elgar.

Host Carl Lewis and cricket punter Lwnele Poswayo LAST MEETINGSouth Africa beat England by an innings and 12 runs THE TEAM NEWS ENGLAND After four consecutive Test victories this summer, England were brought back down to earth with a bang at Lord's as their batting line-up was twice demolished by South Africa, subjecting the hosts to an innings thrashing, their first defeat under the permanent Test captaincy of Ben Stokes. Whilst England are unlikely to panic themselves into making changes, Zak Crawley's tortuous run of form surely cannot carry on for much longer, with the lack of other opening options perhaps being the main thing keeping him in the side at present. One of the best performing domestic batters of the summer Harry Brook could come in and open instead of Crawley having been on the edge of selection all summer, but that would be an extremely big ask of a batter who primarily bats in the middle order. SOUTH AFRICA Question marks were asked of South Africa's batting line-up heading into this series, but they stood up well enough at Lord's to accrue 326 in their first and only innings following England's 165, which proved more than enough for the Proteas' magnificent bowling attack to work with, running through England again for 149 and sealing an innings win. Kagiso Rabada was a doubt for the first Test but after passing a fitness test, the fast bowler proved why he is one of the best players in the world, taking seven wickets across the match including a five-wicket-haul and having shown no ill-effects from that ankle injury, Rabada should be set to go again in Manchester. At Emirates Old Trafford, pitches have proven notoriously conducive to spin in Test cricket so it would be no surprise if the tourists replaced one of their four pacemen (most likely Lungi Ngidi) with a second spin-bowler in Simon Harmer to partner Keshav Maharaj, but aside from that potential change the same South African side is expected.

It will be all change for Welsh Fire men after half of the tournament as they swap the fierce Kiwis Glenn Phillips and Jimmy Neesham for franchise stalwarts Kieron Pollard and Lungi Ngidi. Either way, Rich, Oli and Tom think the squad looks awesome. With England favourites such as Jonny Bairstow, Ben Duckett and Tom Banton in place, the batting looks particularly brutal. How much will Ollie Pope offer though with injury and England test duties looming? And how will the short, straight boundaries at Cardiff's Sophia Gardens affect the team tactics?
