The May Monthly Report is here, and this one absolutely goes everywhere. Andrew is joined once again by Brett Geddes for a massive session covering tournament fishing, homemade lure disasters, junior anglers coming through the ranks, forward-facing sonar, giant fishing numbers from Gippsland. The boys are also joined by young gun Harvey, who has been quietly putting together some seriously impressive catches fishing out of Andrew's original Hobie kayak. Harvey talks about competing in the Daiwa Young Fishing Club, how the app-based competition works, and some standout recent captures including: A 36cm black bream on a Duo Bivi Flathead on Z-Man plastics Tailor and perch from both the kayak and the stones Preparing for his first Hobie competition on the Georges River The discussion also highlights the growing opportunities for junior anglers in tournament kayak fishing and how the next generation is learning faster than ever before. Andrew and Brett then dive into one of the most entertaining topics they've covered in months — the Collective lure making challenge. Andrew explains how he built a timber chubby-style lure completely by hand using basic tools, super glue and even nail polish as paint, before finally catching bream on it after dropping a quality fish earlier in the session. Brett shares his own homemade lure journey, including the now-infamous “Homer Simpson Doughnut” lure — a pink doughnut-shaped creation built by Beth from the Collective, rigged with multiple hooks and a cheb weight, which somehow went on to catch perch. There's also a huge Gippsland fishing update from Brett, who reveals some unbelievable numbers from the first four months of the year: 511 estuary perch 223 bream to 48cm 99 bass 89 flathead to 86cm Brett breaks down why the Gippsland Lakes system is currently fishing as well as anywhere in the country, including: Mulloway showing up throughout the lakes system Massive bait concentrations Saltwater pushing deep into the system Open lake perch behaviour Heavy leader fishing for big perch Why the fishery is changing dramatically compared to years gone by The boys also discuss standout lures from the month, including: Sprat 65s and 85s Hard-on-soft presentations Duo Bivis Twitch 50s Hurricane Slams Hybrid Shrimp techniques Fishing deep timber with near snag-proof presentations Tournament coverage is a massive part of this episode, with discussion around: The Tasmania Hobie and ABT rounds Steve Morgan continuing to dominate while simultaneously filming, livestreaming and producing media content Isaac Harris narrowly edging out Morgo in one event Joel Crosby quietly building momentum with big plastic “power breaming” techniques NSW Tournament Series results Foster and Marlo previews The realities of organising and recording tournament interviews every single week Andrew also talks about recording more than 17 interviews in a single week and the behind-the-scenes workload involved in running The BREAM Fishing Project. The episode wraps up with discussion around the new forward-facing sonar course from My Fishing Coach featuring Nabil Issa and Steve Morgan, including detailed setup walkthroughs for Garmin, Lowrance and Humminbird units, fish behaviour interpretation, mapping insights and species-specific sonar applications. This is one of the loosest and most wide-ranging Monthly Reports yet — packed with laughs, fishing stories, tournament insight, lure experimentation and plenty of classic Brett Geddes moments. #TheBreamFishingProject #BREAM #KayakFishing #TournamentFishing #EstuaryPerch #FlatheadFishing #ABT #HobieFishing #LureFishing #AustralianFishing

"Lessons from the Law" • Brother Jonah Lowrance - Brother Jonah reflected on Joshua 1:8-9 and the importance of remembering the Law of God. He then highlighted a number of passages in the Law that have been of great importance to him for the past four years. These would include Genesis 1:1-5 about the creation of the world by the Eternal God. Genesis 1 & 2 about the creation of man and woman. Exodus 2:23-25 and God's help for His people. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 about how we are commanded to love God with our whole person. Then finally, Numbers 25 in reference to the zeal we ought to have for God.
"Study and Have Hope" • 2nd Timothy 2:15-19 - Brother Jonah Lowrance. We are to study the word of God enough so that when we are faced with discouragement or false doctrines, we will remember that our salvation is secure in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and we will not be shaken from our faith. "Let" • Romans 6:11-12; Matthew 5:16; 16:24; John 14:1-4; Romans 14:19; Galatians 6:9-10;Philippians 2:3-8; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 13:1; & 1st John 4:7-11 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Since we have been born of the Spirit of God, we are no longer servants to sin. We can now choose to do the right thing. In this message, Elder Lowrance picks up where Brother Jonah finished, and reminds us that we called to make the right choices as children of God and let righteousness, peace, and love reign in our lives.
"The Suffering Servant" • Isaiah 53 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. In order to fully understand the majesty of our risen Savior, we must understand how depraved and lost we were, and what great suffering Jesus endured for our sin. Elder Lowrance shows that the prophecy of Isaiah points to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ which secured the eternal salvation of all of God's elect.
"Moses on the Backside of the Desert" • Hebrews 11:26-27; Exodus 3-5 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Between Moses' decision of faith in Hebrews 11:26 and his courageously delivering Israel from Egyptian bondage in verse 27, Moses had a lot of growth in grace and faith that needed to happen so that he could be the proper instrument of God's deliverance. Moses' zeal got ahead of God's timing when he killed the Egyptian and had to flee to Midian. While there, Moses learns patience, obedience, and how to trust the promises of God. These lesson prepared him to lead Israel to the promised land.

"Moses' Decision of Fatih" • Hebrews 11:24-26 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. The next example of living by faith in Hebrews, Chapter 11 is Moses. Here, the Apostle lists more than one act of faith by Moses. His first act was a decision. Moses decided to be identified with the people of God rather than continue being called part of the royal family in Egypt. By rejecting his adoptive rights, Moses chose to suffer physically, financially, and in many other ways. The sole reason behind this decision was because he believed the promise of God and looked for the better resurrection that his forefathers sought.
"Authority of the Gospel" • Galatians 1:1-18 - Brother Jonah Lowrance. Brother Jonah explained the Apostle Paul's confidence in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus to the extent that he encourages the Galatian Christians to ignore anyone who would teach something apart from that Gospel. Christians today ought to do the same thing. They ought to be confident in the good news that it is Christ who died for our sins and saves us by His grace alone. "According to His Will, Not Ours" • Galatians 1:4-6; Romans 5:6-15; & 1st Corinthians 15:19-26 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Our great hope is that Christ's death didn't just restore us to the state of Adam in the Garden of Eden but to a glorified state of eternal life. Continuing in Galatians and progressing to the Apostle Paul's letters to the Ephesians and the Corinthians, Elder Bryce shows that to truly give glory to God for complete salvation in Jesus Christ, we must understand man's total inability to move toward God in his fallen nature. The entire human race is guilty by the sion of Adam, but all the elect are justified in Jesus Christ.
"Moses' Parents" • Hebrews 11:23 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Continuing in the list of Old Testament saints, Elder Bryce teaches about the courage and ingenuity of Moses' parents who acted in faith to save the life of their baby who would become the deliverer and Israel and a beautiful type of Jesus Christ.
"All Saved the Same Way" • Acts 15:1-19 - Brother Jonah Lowrance. Brother Jonah explains the dispute within the early churches regarding what place the Old Testament Law has in the salvation, how the dispute was properly handled, and that the Apostles and elders concluded that God's people are not saved by the Law. Based on the blessing of the Holy Ghost, the words of Jesus, and the Old Testament Scriptures, they come to the conclusion that all are saved in the same way by "the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ."
"Joseph's Bones" • Hebrews 11:22 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Joseph believed the promise of God that his family would return to the promised land so he had his family swear an oath that his bones would be taken back to that land when God delivered them in the future. This shows that he sought another country like his forefathers and believed in the resurrection. Elder Lowrance traces the fulfillment of this promise and shows how Shechem is a vital place of covenant giving and renewal and experiences with God. Shechem is a picture of the deliverance of God in the work of Jesus Christ.
"Faith is Evidence of Eternal Life" • Jonah 5:24-25 - Brother Jonah Lowrance. Brother Jonah opens the preaching service teaching that our belief and faith is proof of our eternal salvation and not the cause. "Jacob Blesses Joseph's Sons" • Hebrews 11:21 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Elder Lowrance traces the history of the patriarchs from Abraham to Joseph showing how the children of Israel ended up in Egypt. While there, Jacob blesses Ephraim and Manessah on his death bed. Once again, we see an excellent example of how faith is not blind but is putting trust in the word of God.
"The Interesting Case of Isaac's Faith" • Hebrews 11:20 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Ignoring the declaration of God before Jacob and Esau are born that the elder would serve the younger, Isaac continually favors Esau as the firstborn. Even when he think he is going to die, Isaac tries to bless Esau but accidentally blesses Jacob. When he realizes that he has gone against God's will, Issac trembles and then ultimately declares in faith that Isaac will be blessed as the promised one.
"Abraham's Trial of Faith" • Hebrews 11:17-19 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Through one of the most striking trials of faith we find in the Bible, we learn that walking by faith is not blind faith like many describe it. Abraham did not toss out reason when he willingly offered up Isaac. He reasoned that God would raise him from the dead since he was the promised son. We do not have to take blind leaps of faith either. We have the will of God revealed to us in His word, the Bible. We are called to trust the promises of God and understand that His promises are true!
"Living as a Pilgrim and Stranger" • Hebrews 11:13-16 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. For the child of God, this world is foreign country. No matter what we do, we just don't feel quite at home even when things are going well. This is because our long sought home is in heaven with Jesus. When we walk by faith we have a more sure hope of that home to come. "The Death of Saul" • 1st Samuel 31 & 2nd Samuel 1 - Brother Jonah Lowrance. King Saul is the sad example of a child of God that stopped walking by faith and sought comfort and confidence in this world. He died miserably but David laments his death and the death of his son Jonathan. This shows us how we should view fellow children of God who have brought destruction into their lives. We should view them with pity, mercy, and love.
"Laughing Sarah" • Hebrews 11:11-12 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. The next example of faith in the Apostle's list is Sarah. We are shown by this testimony in the New Testament that Sarah did in fact trust God that He would give her a child but the historical account in Genesis shows that her act of faith was also mixed with doubt. This is important to understand because this is the common experience for all children of God. Our faith is not the foundation of our eternal justification but it is the source of our assurance of salvation. When we walk by faith, we have a greater hope.
"Abraham" • Hebrews 11:8-10 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Abraham was given very little information when God called him to leave his homeland and go to a land that would be shown to him later. He, his son's family, and his grandson's family sojourned in that promised land in tents, only owning a small area to bury their dead. Abraham did not presume to lord over God's promise. He understood that the physical land promised to him and his posterity pointed toward a greater inheritance. So Abraham sought for a heavenly home and is the perfect example for us to walk by faith.Abraham is the perfect example for us. We are to lose more and more sight of this earth so that we can keep our heavenly home in view.
"Noah" • Hebrews 11:7 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Continuing to look at the Old Testament saints who walked by faith in fellowship with God, Elder Bryce considers Noah. As our Savior told us, the latter days before His return will be a lot like the days of Noah. We have been given a promise of the Lord's return even though the world doesn't believe it and visible evidence shows no signs of His coming. So, just as Noah walked with God by faith trusting solely in His word, we should do the same. "When David Didn't Walk by Faith" • 1st Samuel 27-29 - Brother Jonah Lowrance. David was a man after God's own heart but that did not make him an automaton controlled by God. He was still a man that had the ability to walk by faith or not. In these chapters, Brother Jonah shows us the resulting disaster in David's life when he chose to walk by his own will and not by the faith that God had given him. His league that he made with the Philistines led to further lies and deceptions. But most importantly, David learned that walking without faith leads to continual insecurity.
"Living By Faith" • Hebrews 11:1-3 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. In Chapter 11, the Apostle continues his encouragement to draw nigh unto God in fellowship rather than drawing back. The chapter begins with an amazing definition of faith. The Hebrew Christians, as well as all born again children of God, possess the Holy Spirit which gives them faith. This intrinsic trust looks for a hope outside of this fallen world. We see in these first few verses that faith allows us to see and believe that the universe was created in order by the Son of God, Jesus Christ. And, if this faith is in us, we can use it to live in hope of glory despite the present troubles of life.

Eric is an incredible ice fisherman and even does testing for many companies that produce ice fishing gear, like Vexilar, Clam Outdoors, Mack's Lure and others. Eric and Rigger have a great discussion that we are positive you will find very interesting and helpful, whether you are an experienced ice fisher person or just starting out. One thing Rigger found interesting was how Eric uses his Vexilar Fish Finder and how accurate Eric says it can be. Vexilar is not something a lot of Montana ice fishermen use these days as they tend to gravitate to the new Garmin, Lowrance or Humminbird units. However, wait until you hear just how sensitive he can operate the new Vexilar, like being able to drop one maggot into the ice hole and fallow it all the way to the bottom of the lake! What?! Being that Eric typically fishes outside of Montana in the lakes of Idaho and Eastern Washington he brings possible new ideas for those of us who spend most of our time on Montana ice. However, no matter what ice you will be fishing on this winter you will indeed get some ideas that will improve your skills form this podcast. So, hit the play button and get to listening and then check out the links below for more info about the things Rigger and his guest Eric Magnuson talk about this week on the Montana Outdoor Podcast!Links:To follow Eric Magnuson on his ice fishing adventures, click here to go to his Facebook Page.To read Eric's latest article about fishing for Burbot click here.Click here to read Eric's latest article about using fish finders. To learn more about the Vexilar fish finder that Eric uses click here.Eric talked about gear from Automatic Fisherman, click here to learn more.To learn more about the Toothpick Hook Remover click here. Here is Eric's list of "must have" gear to go out on the ice with.Ice PicksSpud barThrow Rope Proper clothing 5gal bucket to carry gear and use as a seat.Rod and TackleT2 Toothpick hook removerProper BootsAugerSonar/MapsFishing PartnerSmall Jet Sled to tow gear behind Questions for Eric?

"Therefore" • Hebrews 10:19-25 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Having spent nine and half chapters proving the superiority of Christ in all things and showing that Jesus is our great High Priest, the Mediator of our salvation, and the sufficient offering for the sins of God's people, the Apostle Paul now shows how we should respond to this information. Having such blessings from God, let us respond in grateful service.

Forward facing sonar has finally been banned in some professional bass fishing tournaments. Forward facing sonar, also known as Livescope, is a type of highly advanced fishfinder technology that many believe can make catching fish easy to the point of being unfair. The forward facing sonar technology has changed the fish are caught in the bass tournament world and also in crappie fishing tournaments. Any fish that is caught by a lure can be caught easier by fishermen that have masted this technology. Lowrance, Garmin, and Humminbird all have their version of forward facing sonar that angler are utilizing to catch more fish. In the bass fishing community many anglers are calling for a ban on forward facing sonar. At this stage in the game, banning forward facing sonar would change the bass fishing industry dramatically. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dieter-melhorn/support
