Do you want to be ready to overcome any challenge, anywhere and at any time? Then you need to listen to Josh Bryant, the legendary strength coach and bestselling author of more than 30 books on every aspect of strength, training and optimal performance. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting your fitness journey, Bryant has advice that will change the way you train for the better.Bryant breaks down the #GasStationReady (and related #WaffleHouseReady) concept in detail – a philosophy that emphasises being ready to handle any challenge life throws your way. Sometimes - in some situations - just having the look is enough to meet the challenge, but this concept goes far beyond simply looking a certain way. It's about functional strength, endurance and resilience. Imagine being able to lift heavy, run fast, and maintain performance for long periods of time, making you confident in tackling any physical task at a moment's notice, even when you're at the gas station or in a restaurant.Bryant's approach blends his academic theoretical knowledge with decades of "in the trenches" experience with some of the strongest and most impressive athletes on the planet. His methods have also been forged and tested in many of the toughest, most unforgiving environments like maximum security prisons and the famous Metroflex gym in Texas, home of bodybuilding legends like Ronnie Coleman and Branch Warren. As an athlete himself - he won the Strongest Man in America competition and became the youngest person to bench press 600lbs (273kg or 6 plates a side) raw - Bryant knows the importance of real-world applicability. What is perhaps even more impressive is his record as a coach: he has guided more than twenty athletes to hit this herculean bench press milestone. His Jailhouse Strong methods are also famously adaptable, and have transformed the lives of countless individuals by helping them achieve functional strength and mental toughness. But prodigious strength is not enough for Bryant; the ultimate state of physical preparedness requires a significant conditioning element too. One piece of this puzzle can be addressed by rucking, which recently seems to have exploded in popularity. Bryant also – quite literally – wrote the book on rucking years before it became mainstream, and was the key figure in popularising it outside military circles. At the other end of the intensity spectrum we find sprints, another thing Bryant knows a thing or two about. If you're looking to boost your explosive power and cardiovascular fitness, hill sprints are a game-changer. Learn how to use sprints safely to supercharge your overall athletic performance with his step-by-step guide on how to incorporate them into your training programme.Whether you're aiming to enhance your athletic performance, build a resilient body, or simply stay fit and healthy, don't miss our exclusive Unfiltered conversation from one of the greatest strength coaches on the planet.Visit https://unfilteredonline.com/ or get in touch!Email: editorial@unfilteredonline.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGSV7XVaBYUYq5YidLI12owInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/unfiltered.extraTwitter/X: https://twitter.com/UnfilteredExtra
Last week we dropped the bombshell that we were going to have the opportunity to interview icon and 8x Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman, this week, we recap how it went. This episode was recorded while we were still in Texas, after returning to Austin following our road trip to the original Metroflex in Arlington. We not only got to interview Ronnie while there but also Brian Dobson, the founder of Metroflex and the man who shepherded Ronnie into competitive bodybuilding. The story of Metroflex and the philosophy it's based on is just as important as Ronnie's story, as it helps us understand the environment where this champion formed. We also had the pleasure and privilege of interviewing Big J, who we are eternally grateful to as he was the one who set up our interview with big Ron. He shared his experiences as the training partner of Ronnie and as a long-time member of Metroflex. You'll learn a lot of interesting things in this episode, like: what was the Texas bodybuilding scene like decades ago? What were Ronnie's early competitive experiences like? Who were Ronnie's inspirations? What was Metroflex like at that time and how did its culture form? You don't want to miss this one if you're a fan of contemporary bodybuilding!
Yup, it's confirmed. We're going to interview living legend, 8-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman at the one and only Metroflex in Arlington Texas, in person, along with its founder Brian Dobson, and long-time training partner of The King, Big J. This is huge news and a big part of our Iron Culture documentary filming in Texas. Eric, Omar, and Conor recorded this episode just days before heading to Metroflex after confirmation of the interview. They discuss the cultural and historical impact of Ronnie Coleman on bodybuilding, and beyond, tune in, because the next episode will be the recap!

In this episode of Chalk My Back! The boys take a deep dive courtesy of Josh into the world of weightlifting and drugs and how the recent doping violations show just how much the US isn't as clean as athletes and lifters think. Along the way, we also talk about how public information can sometimes be funny and how you can find out who's clean in your respective strength sport and maybe how to contact them with just a quick internet search but you didn't hear it from our podcast. Abe gives us an update of how his training is going and his recent experience training with Rendy at Metroflex in Fort Worth and hints at a possible future episode with the man, the myth, and the legend. Anas also talks about a well known Canadian powerlifting who was caught cheating and gives us his hot take into what we should do with cheaters. Does the podcast finally get cancelled? Will Abe become a powerlifting robot terminator from the future? Does Josh finally admit that his pants are too tight? All this and more on this episode of CMB!

How To Become A Bodybuilder? 1. Find a good gym. You can begin getting into shape and building muscle at home, with a basic home gym set up. But it is more better to work-out at professional gym facilities. This will make things very much more possible. If you desire to be a competitive bodybuilder it is very important that you find a good gym in your local area. Where you can get trained. You can not be a bodybuilder without training. Some gyms are: Gold's Gym in Venice, Ca., Original Temple Gym in Birmingham, United Kingdom, Bev Francis's Powerhouse Gym in Syosset, NY, Metroflex in Arlington, Tx., Oxygen Gym in Kuwait. I heard of many Planet Fitness Gyms and LA Fitness Gyms throughout the Metro Atlanta area.- 2. Familiarize yourself with the important muscle groups and basic anatomy of the Human Body. Bodybuilders are part athletes and part artists. Think of your training just as if it is a work of art. Treat your training like you are a sculptor who uses clay or marble. A bodybuilder uses sweat and determination to train the muscles and sculpt the body into a particular physique(shape). Plan what you desire to achieve in bodybuilding. How you want to shape your body is a huge part of the process. Try reading these following textbooks on your research of the body. Which are Grey's Anatomy, Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bodybuilding: A Scientific Approach.- 3. Prioritize your goals. It is going to take some planning. It depends on where you are with your body. Planning and sculpting will be an ongoing process, so it is great to sit down and meet with other bodybuilders and trainers to discuss which parts of your physique that you would like to work on. Here are some muscle groups that you can work out together. The list is also as compound movements: 1. Arms, legs, and glutes. 2. Biceps, thighs and back. 3. Chest and triceps. Or 4. Chest, shoulders and arms. If you are a little overweight. Then you should begin focusing on calorie-burning exercises first to get your fat percentages down. You should do this long before you begin worrying about building your pecs into chiseled works of art. In example. First start doing cardio and circuit-training exercises to lose weight. If you already slim and lean and desire to build muscle, start developing a strength training routine, start a strengthening routine, focus on compound movements first, then work your way up to separate exercises, attacking the specific muscle groups you've identified as needing the work.- 4. Learn the proper form for each exercise. It is very important to learn how to lift properly. Try doing different exercises within your workout with an empty bar, then upgrade this to the weighted barbells to make sure you got the primary movements into your memory. Consider talking to a personal trainer for guidance. Because it is possible that you will train wrong. If you train without any guidance injury can result. And if you train without any guidance it will make your bodybuilding career a huge waste of time and effort. It also is important to go to a gym and learn from other bodybuilders as well.- 5. Consult a nutritionist. Everyone has a different metabolism and will require different supplementary nutrition for building muscle. Talk to a nutritionist or other health counselor to build a diet plan tailored to your body and what you want to do with it.- 6. The finances of bodybuilders. Bodybuilders don't make much money. The profession is much like being a professional poet or professional painter. It will take a lot of your heart and soul, make it your passion. You need to support your bodybuilding career with some other kind of work to pay the bills. Consider becoming a licensed personal trainer. This will give you much free gym time and you will get paid to talk weights and train others.- 7. Prepare for the long haul. It's very important that you know it is going to take some time. You start with deadlifts one day and wake up

Gabe's BIO - I’m 22 years old. I’ve been lifting weights since I was 13, but have been training specifically for Strongman for about 6 months now. In that time I have been in two competitions and places 3rd in both in the lightweight division. I train for strongman at Metroflex Gym-Plano in Plano, TX. I have been married for almost a year now. I go to school at Criswell College where I major in Biblical Studies. And I am also a Student and Worship Pastor at Stepping Stones Church of McKinney, TX. Other than lifting my hobbies consist of studying theology, playing video games, watching movies, playing and listening to music. I am originally from Chickamauga, GA (in the Chattanooga, TN area) but now reside in Plano, TX. And something random about me is that in what would have been my sophomore year of college I took a semester to work with the IMB in Central Asia. Some of the topics we covered with Gabe included: What weird strength parlor tricks do you do (rolling up frying pans, tearing phonebooks in half). What hobbies do you have outside of strongman? What got you into strength sports? Where did your lifting journey start? What was your inspiration or mentor in strength sports? Biggest strength numbers Any injuries that you had to deal with? How did you know that strongman was a good fit? How many hours a week would you train before a strongman competition? What do you take on a regular basis to supplement your training? How many calories do you eat off and on season? How can you afford to eat that much? Any funny stories or events that happened in your competition? What is your strongest implement/point maker event? Favorite training music? What was the most famous person that you were the most stoked to meet in your competing? If you could do something different in your training (wind the clock back) what would you do?I want to get into strongman...where should I start? What now do you want to do strength wise? What’s one thing that you want all lifters in the BBB to know or consider before getting into strength sports? (be able to justify your training) Common injuries specific to strongman as well as other health issues that someone might not consider (mental, addictions, etc)? What pet peeves do you have when it comes to training in a gym? What is one thing you have heard many lifters say that is WRONG/MYTH?
IFBB pro Branch Warren has been a world-class bodybuilder for so long, it's easy to forget he's still just 42 years old–and still as huge and shredded as ever. "The Texas Rattlesnake" opens up about his history, his favorite game meats, and how he trains today–including his personal "strongman biathlon." Be sure to follow us on social media for daily fitness updates! Highlights: - On his first show at 154 pounds: "My goal was 'not get last place.'" - How he began powerlifting, but kept bodybuilding as his "first love" - "You know, the second bodybuilder I ever saw in my life was Ronnie Coleman." - His introduction to Metroflex and real lifting–at age 17 - "All these big, jacked dudes walking around, and I remember thinking to myself, I just made it to the promised land. This is home." - His unique membership agreement: "If you represent the gym, and you win, you don't gotta buy a membership. If you don't, you're gonna work it off." - The difference between health club lifting and training with the big boys - "I learned early on, you don't ask questions. If they say do 20, you don't ask why. You shut the fuck up and do 20." - "[As a bodybuilder] you're more of a nutritionist than anything else." - How he got started with hunting and eating game meat: "I grew up in west Texas, in the country. And the only two things to do out there was drink beer, and hunt. The two best-looking girls in my school were my cousins, so there wasn't much to do, man." - On game meat: "I think it makes me stronger, tell you the truth." - How he prepares his game meat - How he feels in his 40s, and how he views competition: "I don't want to say I'm retired. I'm just not competing." - How becoming a father changed everything for him - On the burden of eating: "I'll be up 'til one in the morning, sometimes, trying to finish my food. And you take a bite, and you chew it up, and you get some water and swallow, and then you get the next bite. And I just cuss my food." - "Yeah, I got to where I hated food. Because it was always, you're either force-feeding yourself, of you're getting, you're hungry all the time because you're getting ready for competition." - On his training: "I've got nothing to prove. It was fun, but my goal right now, when I'm in the gym, is 'Don't get hurt.'" - Why he loves "functional" and strongman-style training - The challenge of mixing training with shooting - His introduction to strongman-style training from Tony Sentmanat - "I like it because it's something different, and it's a new challenge. After doing what I've done for so long, it's just something new. Plus it's outside, you can do it outside, and it's just a new challenge, something different." - His legacy in bodybuilding, and how he looks back on his accomplishments: "I wish I would have enjoyed it a little bit more, but at the same point, I don't know if I would have accomplished what I did, because I was so focused. No matter what you do, it never was good enough. I never looked in a mirror and was like, wow I look great. I looked in the mirror and pick myself apart."
