More than five years after Ivan Milat’s death, questions still linger. Was Australia’s most infamous serial killer responsible for more than seven murders — and did he act alone? We speak with news.com.au’s Cydonee Mardon, who covered Milat’s trial, about the chilling evidence, the push for a parliamentary inquiry, and why some of his relatives still claim he was innocent. It has been a busy time on the right wing fringe of politics with a lot of dickheads having tantrums for reasons we can't fathom and they can't articulate. It's been a lot! But first up we have the very much not right wing but still slightly fringe tale of Jeremy Buckingham's search for truth regarding Ivan Milat's actual body count. The problem is, he's gone a bit off track and started making some fairly baseless claims. These can do more harm than good - and it's a classic case of when a politician thinks he's a cop and ends up doing both jobs terribly. We love Jeremy but this one's not going well. Cookers are upset about the coming 'backdoor' to digital tyranny that will see us having to identify ourselves on the internet to get past age checks for naughty content. And while the proliferation of awful content online is something worth looking at, this response ain't it. AND we have Gaetzy who has a solution to the war in Ukraine. It's really dumb. No spoilers. Cooker update has a bit of a lead up to next weeks racist picnic in the park where a lot of people will unite for the cause of - uh - straya? It's vague. We don't really know who is organising it. But they put Bec Freedom out as the media scapegoat and wow she's copped a shellacking. I tell ya what though - if you want to distance this rally from the Nazis who endorsed it, maybe don't put people that endorse nazis in charge? Just a thought, guys. In SovCits we look at the 4 corners episode that recently had a crack at the Common Law folks who love a good mock trial and dashing custom printed polo shirt. It was a good effort, but worth a chat nonetheless. I also preview the first few pages of Pete's new book and it sucks so much more than expected. Like, I knew the premise was silly but WOW does this thing suck. And the price is insane. -----------------------------------------------------------As usual, if you have any money you must give it to us.

See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The case of Ivan Milat, also known as the Backpacker Murderer, remains one of Australia's most notorious serial killings. Between 1989 and 1992, Milat lured at least seven young backpackers into the remote Belanglo State Forest, where they were brutally tortured and murdered. The brutal events even inspired a cult classic horror film known as Wolf Creek. Retired FBI agent and criminal profiler Candice DeLong digs into the case of Matthew Milat. In 2010, Matthew decided to follow in Ivan's footsteps by killing his own friend. Hicrî yeni yıl başladı. 1446 sene geçmiş Peygamber Efendimiz'in (sav) Mekke'den Medine'ye hicretinin üzerinden.

Between September 1992 and November 1993 the remains of seven backpackers were found dotted around Australia's Belanglo State Forest. The long-putrefied bodies had all been shot multiple times by the same .22 calibre rifle. Some had snapped spines; others had been used as target practice. Despite all signs pointing to the Milat family, the real challenge for police was finding which of the ten Milat brothers to point the finger at...See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In November 1993, a man named Paul Onions called a tip in to the Australian task force working to find a serial killer in New South Wales. 6 months later, Ivan Milat would be arrested, and when police raided his home, what they found in the walls and ceiling implicated him in the 7 backpack murders.

Ivan Milat, is often referred to, as Australia's worst serial killer, or the backpack killer. Ivan was one of 14 children in his family, 10 boys and 4 girls. The authorities would refer to the Milat boys as ‘feral'. This guy is one of the worst, a dark cloud over a beautiful country. I have to apologize to any Australian listeners. I do attempt to do the accent, and, things got carried away. I will do better next time

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, a spate of young backpackers began going missing in the Australian outback. Their families' pleas for help fell on deaf ears until the gruesome discovery of their remains was found deep within the Belanglo Forest. The crimes are pinned on serial killer Ivan Milat in 1996 but he never confessed to any of the murders despite irrefutable evidence. In May 2019, as Milat lay dying of terminal cancer, police raced against the clock to elicit a deathbed confession. Will Milat finally give the victims' families closure? So, tonight I'm actually covering a case that was recommended to me by a listener. You guys know the last story I covered was Ivan Milat, the backpack murderer from Australia. We kind of talked a bit about the inner workings of the Milat family, but apparently it goes even deeper. So tonight we are talking about Matthew Milat, who is Ivan's nephew. Matthew idolized his killer uncle, and went on to commit murder in the very same Belanglo state forest that Ivan prowled. It's so scary, it sounds like it could be a movie, but this all really happened.
