In this session, I sat down with someone who's been a longtime listener and has been following my advice ever since my days on Oprah. She reached out to me for guidance, and her story is bound to hit close to home for many of us. Picture this: she escaped a five-year marriage that felt more like a chore than a fairytale. But now, she's in a sizzling new relationship, sparks are flying and things are heating up for her in all the right ways. The twist? Her partner's got a case of the “low desire and low testosterone blues” and she's grappling with feelings of rejection and neglect. Together, we explore the complexities of reigniting intimacy and desire. In this episode, you will learn about:  How stress and anxiety can negatively affect sexual desire in men The different physical, emotional, hormonal and medical factors that can create difficulty with male sexual response and sensation Why low desire does not necessarily mean they are no longer attracted to you The importance of having a “cost-benefit analysis” in a long-term relationship How men often dismiss sexual issues because it emasculates them and the steps you can take to address the problem Remember, issues of sexual desire are common in relationships and can be tackled with open communication and professional help. The characters in director Wong kar-Wai's "In the Mood for Love," which recently ranked No. 5 on the BFI's Sight and Sound poll of the Greatest Films of All Time, crave human connection -- but they'll settle for a good meal. In this episode, Mike and Brian explore physical vs. emotional hunger; the various ways that Wong kar-Wai uses framing, color and slow-motion to communicate desire and/or loneliness; and how playing make-believe can draw us closer while simultaneously distancing us from deep life experiences. Forget Wong Kar-Wai's whip pans, this episode may cause some whiplash with its shifting between its A- and B-pictures. First up is the horror comedy of Cocaine Bear, currently burning up the box office during a relative lull in new releases. We follow it with our first review in a series that has us playing catch-up with the top ten films of the newest iteration of the Sight & Sound critics' list that we had not already addressed on past episodes. That has us looking at Wong's In the Mood for Love, a romantic drama that has impressed critics and (niche) audiences alike since its initial arrival in the year 2000 (yes, read that in LaBamba's voice). All this with beers from a new-to-us brewery, Family Business Brewing, and our returning guest, Anthony Zoccolillo. Cheers!

We begin the Month of Crazy Stupid Love with a film that the Sight And Sound absolutely worships. The BBC Culture people do too. But we don't. We do RESPECT In The Mood For Love immensely. The actors are good and it's one of the best-looking motion pictures ever made. The cinematography, the sets and especially the costumes should have won Oscars, even though the film wasn't nominated in any of those categories. But, yes, there's certainly plenty to admire in this movie about self-imposed forbidden love as Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung deal with the pain of their partners' infidelity by falling for each other. Are these feelings real though or are the two of them just wallowing in that pain? We try to sort all of that out in Have You Ever Seen #490 as we also try our hardest to see what others see in In The Mood For Love.
