"The airport recording offered a wealth of interesting abstract noises to play around with. I liked the mixture of natural and synthetic sounds - the hum of private conversations, the public announcements, the sounds of children contrasted with the pings and beeps of various devices against background noise. I'm fascinated by the way sound can be transformed through isolation and repetition. "I took small slices of the field sample and used them to make beats, melodic motifs and phrases of spoken word. "I used a Moog Mother 32 to add some fizzy momentum and some extra rhythm to add drive." Brussels airport reimagined by Claire Pearson.

Mark talks Star Wars, wood grain, analog synthesizers, music production, and more. He walks listeners through a time-vortex into Future Year 1982 to hear a Turbo Volcano track emerge from the wood-paneled bliss of the Moog Mother 32 and DFAM combination to form a space-tuned laser disco fueled sonic assault on the piteous wasteland of tomorrow's social media infested dystopia.
A reimagined piece built from the sounds of the Monte Capanne cable car chairlift, which creaks and groans throughout as a Moog Mother-32 melody envelops it, representing the sun, the azure blue of the sea and the warmth of the restorative view from the summit, from which the entire island can be seen in every direction. Reimagined by Cities and Memory.
About: Moxy Martinez, a self taught DJ & producer, has created, performed, produced, and contributed original music and DJ sets for a variety of projects both nationally and internationally since 2003. They have worked and collaborated with individual artists, art institutions, art galleries, dance studios, live music venues, and film projects throughout their career. Highlights of Moxy's career include DJing the Trans Musicales festival in France (2007), being hand selected by Tom Sachs for his show ‘Tom Sachs: Boombox Retrospective' at the Contemporary, Austin providing a unique DJ mix which was played from inside his sculptures (2015), and contributing original music to Emmy nominated documentary Tiny Out Loud (2015). In addition, Moxy has recently (2018- present) worked with the Columbus Museum of Art and The Wexner Center for the Arts providing live DJ sets, performing live synthesizer sets and mediating discussion forums with other artists. Most notably, in collaboration with The Wex and Counterfeit Madison, Moxy produced the sold out show ‘Say A Little Prayer: An Aretha Franklin Celebration' held at the Lincoln Theatre, February 2020. Moxy has also performed and released music as Osea Merdis since 2016. The Osea Merdis project is structured around ideas which are 100% created on analog synths (mainly Moog Mother 32 ecosystem). These ideas, paired with self captured field recordings, contort everyday life into a uniquely identifying audio personality. Moxy's Osea Merdis project is very discerning, emotionally intentional, and based in the need to express the softer side of life even through struggles and sufferings. Ep. 45: "In Defense of the Last Wild Buffalo" feat. Stephany Seay of the Buffalo Field Campaign Current battles in a centuries-long range war The last wild herd of Buffalo in North America spend most of the year in Yellowstone National Park. They are descended from a mere 23 individuals who survived the massive Buffalo slaughters of the late 19th Century by hiding out in a valley there. Today the herd numbers in the low thousands, but is still not allowed to live a life free of harrassment from humans. The Buffalo Field Campaign was formally founded in 1997, and they employ a variety of tactics to defend and advocate for these Buffalo. On December 16th, I spoke with the campaign's media coordinator, Stephany Seay. She's been an earth activist since the late 80's, has apprenticed as a wildlife rehabilitator, and is a student of horses. In 2003, she looked into the eyes of a wild buffalo and was never the same again. Since 2004 she has been on the front lines with BFC. In our conversation, we talked about the history of the Yellowstone herd and what makes it unique; the annual killing of Buffalo every year when they migrate out of the park to forage; the Brucellosis myth; how the ranching industry opposes Buffalo; the effort to have Buffalo listed under the Endangered Species Act; how the Park Service rounds up buffalo every year and sends them to slaughterhouses; the genetic concerns with a herd that is kept so small; the importance of Buffalo as a keystone species; how domesticated cows do not fill the same ecological role as Buffalo; the relationship between Buffalo and Native Americans; how activists have mostly halted the "hazing" of Buffalo; and the work of Buffalo defense, which has included direct action. This interview was short, so I filled out the episode by adding a reading from my 2019 book, "Roadtripping at the End of the World." The excerpt is from a section about Nine Mile Prairie in Nebraska in which write about the Tall Grass Prairie ecosystem and the Buffalo's place in it. "Roadtripping at the End of the World" is available at my website as an autographed paperback or a digital download. About the music: This piece, Sequence of Isolations, is very much influenced by the long period of isolations this year, and as such perhaps mostly a study in solitude. Main voices are heard from the Moog Mother-32 and Subharmonicon, as well as drones and effects from the 4MS SWN, Instruo Ts-L, MI Rings, as well as plenty of reverb, delay, and modulation effects. It's evolved from the usual long-form ambient style Kim has performed under the monicker Dreamhub, but which have now transformed into a modular journey merging the past and the present into future explorations of raw electronic sonic territory and it's many facets. About Kim Bjørn: Also known as the creator of Bjooks, Kim has mostly been known as the author and designer he is. However, as an electronic musician, he's been active for over a decade with a multitude of long-form ambient sets performed in the US, Iceland, Hungary, and Denmark, at festivals, or at more intimate settings of self-study and meditation. Ptolomea created by RPLKTR. "The Ninth Circle, Ptolomea - those who betrayed friends or guests. Their souls descend immediately to hell and their living bodies are possessed by demons when they commit these acts. The sinners cannot weep because the tears freeze in their eyes. Their grief has no outlet and turns inward. This increases their agony. "Ptolomea is a section of a frozen river in the underworld. My soundtrack illustrates this cold and damp. I used synthesizers instead of going for natural sounds to deepen the sense of desolation. There's a feel of dread but there are no audible screams or cries as the grief and agony of the sinners frozen in the river is internal. Occasionally the viewer's attention is turned to a particular detail in sight but ultimately there is no end to the anguish. The song ends abruptly as the viewers notice the banners of Lucifer and move onto the last section of Hell." ### Gear Piano by Pianoteq 6, Steinway D with strings elongated to 6.66m. Eerie chords by a pair of Moog Mother-32s. Rhythmic bass by Moog Subharmonicon. Melodic bass by Novation Circuit Mono Station. Drums by Polyplex, bit crushed to 4 bits. Reverbs by Raum. Recorded and produced in Ableton Live. Part of the Inferno project to imagine and compose the sounds of Dante’s Hell, marking the 700th anniversary of The Divine Comedy. Here we go again, another round of superlative sounds from musicians based around the globe. Let us get straight into the new names added to the list of the thousands who’ve given us listening pleasure over the years. Azu Tiwaline sound from the desert, drawing on Berberian and Saharan trance music that connects human beings with nature. Recorded on various fixed and modular analog gear during a particularly gloomy and rainy winter, US-based Corey Holmes. Pabellón Sintético performing entirely on the Moog Mother 32 & a member of the Argentina band Cartas De Japon, whose path ranges between cosmic, ambient, and sequenced electronic music. With a nearly 30 year career in the underground Chvad SB often leans towards an aggressive & industrial edge. The symphonic & classical scores of their music from David Pena & Terry Lee Nichols, the latter a message for all the earths people from the great late astronomer & science communicator Carl Sagan & finally experimental dark ambient music by Jason Herrboldt, producing soundscapes that are both delicate and unsettling, melodic and chaotic. On a sad note, John Kerr musician & a wonderful human being passed away recently. The love of the human voice and classical choirs reached a new level in his final album “Prelude To A Requiem’, with virtual software instruments adding a new dimension to John’s symphonic style. Shanghai train reimagined by Barkode/Martin de Korte. "Most of the manipulating and composing of the new sound layers for this remix was done with a setup of the Moog Grandmother, Moog Dfam and 2 Moog Mother 32s, besides several eurorack modules and Akai Tape recorders. "The original version was filtered and sampled thru eurorack modular filtering modules such as Mutable Instruments Clouds and the T-Rackonizer Filter Matrix. "The work was arranged and mastered in Ableton Live. "Vocals by Winnie Sy Chan." Part of the Future Cities project - find out more at https://www.citiesandmemory.com/future-cities

New Topophonics: Field Recordings of the Human-Altered Landscape
Recorded live, June 27, for the LA Dept. of Transportation's "Transformation Through Transportation" telethon, curated by Renée Reizman. Stay-at-home orders have had the unintended consequence of giving Angelenos a new vantage point of the city: that of the pedestrian. "The Train to the Sea" is a sound and poetry performance by me, Daniel Tovar, and Jenn Swann, reflecting on the post-pandemic LA landscape through observations and field recordings captured during our daily walks. Daniel Tovar: Sounds (Make Noise 0-Coast, Moog Mother 32, and field recordings taken in Highland Park, Los Angeles, CA) Jenn Swann: Words --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/newtopophonics/message

Ambient Jam with my iPad supported by Moog Mother-32. I love Shoom as kind of lead instrument and for setting accents.
Minimalistic Ambient Track, quite experimental. Three step sequence. Recorded with my Moog Mother-32 only into Mainstage. Added Delay and Reverb there.
Short relaxing track done with my Moog Mother, the Elektron Digitakt and my Doepfer A100.
This is an old school Expansive Sound Experiment but with a 2019 twist... We used the Teenage Engineering OP-Z to create percussion sequence tracks Then we used our Moog Mother 32 and DFAM to do a 1970s inspired analog synth lead.... --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/phantom-electric/message

To close off the year I wanted to do something quite different to my usual DJ sets, so for this episode I've recorded a live Synth Jam of interpretations of music that has inspired me over the years. All of the music was performed live using Ableton and various outboard gear including my Moog Sub 37, Moog Mother 32, Roland Juno-106 and 303 and if you head over to my YouTube channel you can check out the video too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESNxRP9YUeg I hope you enjoy and have a happy Christmas!

Back Burners are a new live and production duo. Having only been producing together for 7 months and getting their live rig up and running in the last 5 months, it's exciting to hear the quality they are already putting out. This Bomphcast is a 100% live improvisation with a Eurorack format modular synthesizer, Moog Mother 32 and a TR8 drum machine. We can vouch for it being 100% live as we were there when they recorded it at their home studio.
You can tell Summer is over - the releases are coming thick and fast. We talk about the new Novation Circuit groovebox, Moog Mother 32, semi modular and of course the Akai MPC Touch.
