El horizonte del año 2035 se ha dibujado como un muro infranqueable donde el vehículo térmico debería dejar paso, por obligación, al "electrodoméstico" con ruedas, cargado con baterías de 600 kilos y sumido en un silencio sepulcral. Pero, ¿y si os dijera que la historia no termina aquí? ¿Y si existiera una resistencia tecnológica capaz de salvar nuestros motores, nuestro patrimonio y nuestra pasión? Hoy analizamos las tres vías que están cambiando las reglas del juego. No hay una única solución mágica, sino un abanico de posibilidades que van desde el aprovechamiento de residuos hasta la química de vanguardia: los e-fuels, el HVO y el hidrógeno quemado directamente en el cilindro. Preparaos, porque vamos a salvar el motor térmico. La Gran Confusión: ¿Bio o Sintético? Para entender el futuro, primero debemos aclarar el presente. Muchos confunden "biocombustible" con "e-fuel" de la misma manera que alguien podría confundir un motor bóxer con uno en V. Ambos comparten el objetivo de reducir emisiones, pero su origen y tecnología son mundos aparte. El motor "omnívoro" y la lección de Brasil El motor de combustión nació con una dieta flexible. Rudolf Diesel ya utilizó aceite de cacahuete en 1900, pero la abundancia del petróleo nos volvió dependientes de una fuente que rompe el equilibrio del carbono atmosférico. Tras el error de los biocombustibles de primera generación (basados en cultivos alimentarios que encarecieron la comida), Brasil surge como el referente del éxito. HVO: El renacer del diésel limpio El HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) representa la salvación inmediata para el parque móvil diésel actual. A diferencia del antiguo biodiésel, este es un combustible de "sustitución directa" (drop-in) derivado de residuos como aceites usados y grasas industriales. E-Fuels: Gasolina de aire y viento Los combustibles sintéticos o e-fuels son la "alquimia" que permitirá que los clásicos y deportivos sigan rodando. Proyectos como Haru Oni de Porsche utilizan energía eólica para realizar un proceso inverso a la combustión: Electrólisis: Se obtiene hidrógeno verde del agua. Captura de aire: Se atrapa el $CO_2$ directamente de la atmósfera. Síntesis: Se combinan ambos para crear una cadena de hidrocarburos idéntica a la gasolina convencional. H2 ICE: Quemando hidrógeno en el cilindro La tecnología más emocionante no es la pila de combustible, sino el H2 ICE (Motor de Combustión Interna de Hidrógeno). Aquí mantenemos el alma de la máquina: pistones, cigüeñal y el rugido característico, pero sustituyendo la gasolina por hidrógeno gaseoso. Retos y realidades técnicas: Emisiones casi nulas: El escape emite principalmente vapor de agua. Al no haber carbono en el combustible, no hay $CO_2$ ni partículas de hollín. Eficiencia Térmica: La altísima velocidad de llama del hidrógeno permite ciclos de trabajo muy rápidos, ideales para motores de alto rendimiento. Soberanía del sonido: Toyota ya compite con esta tecnología, demostrando que se puede ser ecológico manteniendo la ligereza y la emoción acústica de un motor tradicional. La geopolítica y la soberanía industrial La aceptación de la "Enmienda Ferrari" por parte de la Unión Europea es una victoria para la ingeniería europea y japonesa. Permitir la venta de motores térmicos más allá de 2035 siempre que usen combustibles neutros no es solo un capricho para entusiastas; es una cuestión de soberanía tecnológica. No podemos renunciar a un siglo de liderazgo en mecánica de precisión para depender exclusivamente de la producción asiática de celdas de batería. Conclusión El futuro de la movilidad no será un monólogo eléctrico, sino un diálogo entre tecnologías. Dans la Rome antique, peu de figures ont incarné avec autant de force l'idéal civique que Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. Son nom est devenu synonyme de vertu, de modestie et de dévouement à la République. Mais pourquoi cet homme, relativement discret dans l'histoire militaire romaine, a-t-il été élevé au rang de modèle absolu ?Tout commence au Ve siècle avant notre ère, à une époque où la jeune République romaine est régulièrement menacée par des peuples voisins. Cincinnatus appartient à l'aristocratie, mais mène une vie simple, retiré sur ses terres, qu'il cultive lui-même. Ce détail est essentiel : aux yeux des Romains, il incarne déjà l'idéal du citoyen-soldat, prêt à servir l'État sans chercher richesse ni gloire personnelle.Selon la tradition, Rome fait face à une grave crise militaire. Une armée romaine est encerclée, et la situation semble désespérée. Le Sénat décide alors de recourir à une procédure exceptionnelle : nommer un dictateur. Dans la République romaine, ce titre n'a pas le sens négatif qu'il a aujourd'hui. Il désigne un magistrat doté de pouvoirs étendus, mais pour une durée limitée, généralement six mois, afin de faire face à une urgence.Des émissaires sont envoyés chercher Cincinnatus. Ils le trouvent en train de labourer son champ. Il accepte la charge, quitte aussitôt sa charrue, rassemble les troupes, mène une campagne rapide et efficace, et obtient la victoire en quelques jours seulement.C'est là que naît la légende : une fois la menace écartée, Cincinnatus renonce volontairement à ses pouvoirs, alors même qu'il pourrait les conserver, et retourne à sa ferme. Il n'attend ni récompense exceptionnelle, ni prolongation de mandat.Pour les Romains, ce geste est fondamental. Il symbolise plusieurs valeurs clés :La primauté de l'intérêt collectif sur l'ambition personnelle.Le rejet de la tyrannie et de l'accaparement du pouvoir.L'idée que le pouvoir est un devoir temporaire, pas une fin en soi.Cincinnatus devient ainsi l'archétype du dirigeant vertueux : celui qui accepte l'autorité uniquement pour servir, puis s'efface.Ce modèle a traversé les siècles. Dans la Rome antique, son histoire est racontée aux jeunes citoyens comme une leçon morale. Plus tard, à l'époque moderne, son exemple inspirera même des penseurs politiques et des fondateurs de républiques, fascinés par cette vision d'un pouvoir strictement encadré.Si Cincinnatus fut érigé en modèle, ce n'est donc pas pour ses conquêtes, mais pour son renoncement. In de decemberdagen zijn films vol kerstbomen, sneeuw, opbloeiende liefde en familie niet weg te slaan van streamingsdiensten. Wat trekt ons zo aan? En wat moet je tussen die berg kerstfilms echt eens aanzetten?  Samya Hafsaoui schrijft voor NRC al jaren artikelen over kerstfilms en is scenarioschrijver, actrice en columnist. Ze keek tientallen uren aan nieuw materiaal en geeft haar tips van 2025. Hafsaoui verwacht dat de kijkcijfers van deze decemberfilms enorme hoogtes gaan bereiken, omdat de wereld om ons heen onrustig is. Want in een kerstfilm komt altijd alles weer goed.
