New York vs. Boston always provides baseball drama. But this week, it wasn't the Yankees & Red Sox doing the honors. The New York Mets, of all teams, brought the sizzle to Fenway in a wild mid-week series that saw Walker Buehler get ejected and Alex Cora breaking the dugout phone…all while Juan Soto continues to slump. Jake and Jordan dive into all the drama from the Boston/New York series this week.Plus, the season nears its one-third mark, the guys give their take on who is in command for awards at the end of the season, and if they think those picks will stay the same come year's end. Can Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani repeat as AL and NL MVPs, or will new entrants challenge them for the respective league crowns? Finally, a new edition of The Good, The Bad & The Uggla is here to close out the week, featuring Rich Hill, the possibility of baseball going to NBC and the OMG sign making a debut in San Diego, of all places. Our Reactions To The NL & AL MVPs. The Wrap. Chris Hodge From TakingVegas.com Goes Over The Weekends Best Betting Lines.
We made it! Friday is here and I can't wait to veg-out for a couple of days. I'm going to be daydreaming about crockpot mac-n-cheese and all that stuffing I'm going to eat next week! Speaking of Thanksgiving & all that grub, we took a look at what Americans are planning on eating at their Thanksgiving gathering. This morning, we began by talking about a couple of recalls…one for beef with a possible E. coli contamination, and another for anxiety meds with a "life-threatening" label mistake. We also talked about the Matt Gaetz withdrawl & President-elect Trump's new pick for the Attorney General position. Plus, an update on the missing Wisconsin kayaker. In sports, the Steelers somehow lost to the lowly Browns last night in the snow, and we took a look ahead to the games this weekend. Also, the AL & NL MVPs have been announced. We let you know what's on TV & in theaters this weekend, along with some new music you can pick up today. Cool story about a granny in Canada that just set the women's world record for most pushups in an hour! The kid who caught the Freddie Freeman World Series grand slam is going to get PAID as the ball is going up for auction soon. And there's tough, there's hockey-tough, and then there's Mats Zuccarello-tough!!!! During today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a passenger getting duct-taped to a seat after trying to open the door of the plane, a $344 dollar cup of coffee, a fitness "influencer" who decided to workout during a flight in the middle of the plane, and a dude who was tripping balls that climbed into the ceiling of a hospital and disappeared for awhile. Ed and Rob took some time in the opening hour of Thursday's BBMS to preview tonight's AL and NL MVP awards. Is it Judge and Ohtani's accolade to lose? Could Lindor surprise Ohtani for the NL trophy?
The second half begins today and the Trade Deadline looms less than two weeks away. In short, buckle up! That said, let's explore the biggest storylines to keep your eyes on as playoff races heat up and players set their sights on history. On today's episode … ACT 1: (1:14-2:45) CAN A ROOKIE WIN THE CY? PLAYOFF CHASES Fernando Valenzuela remains the only pitcher to win Rookie of the Year AND the Cy Young in the same season, way back in 1981. He may soon have company, though. In only 11 starts, Paul Skenes has established himself as the most dominant hurler on the planet. Not to be outdone, fellow rookie Shota Imanaga has been superb, too. Don't be shocked if one of these guys takes home NL Cy hardware. Also, keep your eyes on the AL East race between the Orioles and Yankees and what promises to be a heated battle among NL Wild Card contenders. ACT 2: (2:14- 4:22) IS OHTANI HEADED TO ANOTHER MVP? 8 STRAIGHT FOR ASTROS? Though he's not working his magic on the mound this season, don't think Shohei Ohtani can't win a third MVP Award. He'd be the first full-time DH to take the honor but he'll have plenty of competition, including Bryce Harper, who owns two NL MVPs of his own and has the Phillies soaring with the best record in the bigs. Another storyline to watch? The Astros' unprecedented quest for an eighth consecutive trip to the AL Championship Series. ACT 3: (7:04-8:07) AN EARLY SECOND-HALF SHOWDOWN IN SEATTLE And speaking of the Astros, they don't have to wait long for a big-time opportunity as they head to T-Mobile Park tonight to kick off a crucial set with the Mariners, who hold just a one-game lead over Houston in the AL West. On this week's edition of Inside the (Rob) Parker, Rob discusses why it would be great for baseball if Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani win the AL and NL MVPs this season, the likelihood that we'll ever see another father-son duo in the Majors at the same time again and why he's feeling good about his decision to fade the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers before the season started. Plus, Cleveland Guardians first basemen Josh Naylor swings by to discuss how it felt to make the All-Star team for the first time in his MLB career. Later, FOX Sports broadcaster Chris Myers checks in to preview the second half of the MLB season and promote his upcoming book, 'That Deserves a Wow: Untold Stories of Legends and Champions, Their Wins and Heartbreaks'. Mike Trout and Cody Bellinger are the 2019 AL and NL MVPs. Trout took home his 3rd career MVP award as he edged out Alex Bregman of the Astros, despite missing the last few weeks of the season with a foot injury. In his eight full seasons, Mike Trout has finished first or second in the MVP voting seven times. Only one player has more MVPs than Mike Trout: Barry Bonds. Cody Bellinger took home his first MVP award after an elite season on both sides of the ball. Bellinger's defensive versatility shined as he won a Gold Glove in right field (not his natural position), while being able to slide over center field or first base when necessary. Bellinger's 9.0 bWAR led all of baseball. All this (and more) on today's episode.
