Kyle Tucker was in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 15, playing in an unforgettable MLB All-Star Game. Just over a month later, Tucker finds himself headed to the bench amidst a cacophony of boos. The All-Star has not been putting up All-Star type numbers. He has been hitting a dismal .160 average in August and has not hit a home run since July 19. Tucker hopes to hit a reset and figure a way out of the slump from the dugout as the Cubs, who currently lead the NL Wild Card race, look to make a push for the postseason. Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the lead-up to this benching and how Tucker and the Cubs can figure out a way forward. “I've never seen anything like this from a Brewers team” is a strong statement, especially coming from Milwaukee Brewers and Turner Sports broadcaster, Brian Anderson. Anderson joins the show and chats with Jake and Jordan about the magical season the Brewers are having thus far. What is it about this team that makes them different from everyone else? Anderson talks about what he is seeing out of Brewers' manager Pat Murphy and how he has seen him change over time. The three also discuss Brewers' associate manager Ricky Weeks and how vital he is to the team's success. Finally, they discuss Christian Yelich and the leadership role he now plays in the clubhouse.Later on in the show, the guys fill you in on what is happening Around The League. In Toronto, Shane Bieber is preparing to return on Friday from his 2024 UCL tear, and subsequent Tommy John surgery. Craig Sandlin and Cory Phillips discuss the Milwaukee Brewers extending their franchise-record winning streak to 14 games, defeating the Cincinnati Reds 6-5 in a thrilling 11-inning contest at Great American Ball Park. The Reds took an early 2-0 lead in the first with home runs from Spencer Steer and Noelvi Marte off Brewers starter Quinn Priester. Milwaukee responded, tying the game in the fourth on Christian Yelich's single and Sal Frelick's sacrifice fly. The Reds surged ahead 4-2 in the sixth with Ke'Bryan Hayes' solo homer and an error-aided run. The Brewers rallied in the ninth, tying it at 4-4 with William Contreras' single and Brice Turang's sacrifice fly. In the 10th, Jackson Chourio's solo homer off Joe La Sorsa gave Milwaukee a 5-4 lead. Trevor Megill secured his 30th save, despite a Reds threat. Yelich went 2-for-4, continuing his hot streak. Reds starter Zack Littell pitched six innings, allowing two runs, but defensive errors by Gavin Lux and T.J. Friedl proved costly. The Reds, now 64-60, fell further in the NL Wild Card race, while the Brewers improved to 78-44, solidifying their NL Central lead.
Audacy MLB insider Tony Gwynn Jr. joined the show to discuss all things MLB. He touches on the race for the final spot in the NL Wild Card spot, if he's buying the Brewers, and much more.

The All-Star break is now complete and the back stretch of MLB's season begins today. With so many storylines to follow, Jake and Jordan discuss the most compelling races for the remainder of the baseball season. After a very rocky start, could the Boston Red Sox still capture the AL East? Which teams are best positioned to make the postseason in the AL and NL Wild Card races? Plus, as we move closer to the end of the season, who are the favorites for postseason awards? Are Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani destined to repeat, or might Cal Raleigh dump on Judge's chances? The All-Star break also brought some important insight from Commissioner Manfred, who met with the media before the All-Star Game on Tuesday. One of the key topics addressed was the Olympics. It appears there's still a lot to be figured out regarding whether players will be able to compete in the LA Summer Games. Although it's three years away, it's clear that time is of the essence for a decision. A couple of teams around the league are on the brink of being sold and the Commissioner had thoughts on each. Jake and Jordan dive into what he said about these topics and more as they explore what the future of baseball may look like.Later, everyone's favorite segment of the week is here: a new meaning to “The Big Dumper,” Zack Jack Mack from San Jac and a few tweets highlight this week's The Good, The Bad and The Uggla.Get ready for the home stretch of the baseball season the best way you know how — by joining us on the Baseball Bar-B-Cast.(1:44) - The Divisional and Wild Card races to keep an eye on(27:54) - Postseason awards favorites(35:08) - Rays for sale(39:20) - Twins for Sale(43:01) - Will MLB players be able to play in the Olympics?(47:16) - Final All-Star Game thoughts(52:06) - The Good, The Bad & The Uggla Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

Nick Kirby is joined by Clay Snowden of Just Baseball to preview the Cincinnati Reds series over the weekend against the Detroit Tigers and talk about the latest around the team. Nick also gives a rundown the NL Central and NL Wild Card standings and all of the Reds minor league action.
On June 4, 2025, the Milwaukee Brewers dominated the Cincinnati Reds with a 9-1 victory at Great American Ball Park, securing their 12th consecutive series win against the Reds. The game, which decided the three-game series, showcased Milwaukee's offensive firepower and pitching depth, while Cincinnati struggled to find rhythm against a relentless Brewers squad. The Brewers struck early and often, with their bats erupting against Reds starter Andrew Abbott, who had been stellar in May with a 0.55 ERA. Abbott, however, faltered, allowing a season-high five runs. In the third inning, Brice Turang doubled and scored on Andruw Monasterio's single, giving Milwaukee a 1-0 lead. The fifth inning saw Jackson Chourio's two-run homer, his 10th of the season, pushing the score to 3-0. Daz Cameron added a two-run shot in the sixth, his first homer since July 2024, further widening the gap. The Brewers capped their offensive onslaught in the ninth with Isaac Collins' three-run homer off Wade Miley, sealing the 9-1 rout. Milwaukee's pitching was equally impressive. DL Hall opened, tossing three innings and allowing just one hit, notably escaping a bases-loaded jam in the third by inducing a lineout and groundout. Quinn Priester earned the win, allowing one run over five innings. The Brewers' staff stifled Cincinnati's offense, which managed only one run despite loading the bases early, highlighting their inability to capitalize on opportunities. For the Reds, the loss underscored ongoing struggles against their NL Central rivals. Cincinnati's lone run came late, but their offense fizzled after the third, continuing a trend of failing to score consistently against Milwaukee. The Reds' defense and baserunning also faltered, with miscues like a strikeout-throwout double play involving catcher Jose Trevino, as noted in posts on X. Fans expressed frustration, with one X user lamenting the Reds' predictable offensive woes. This game solidified Milwaukee's dominance over Cincinnati, with a 42-16 record in their last 58 meetings. The Brewers' balanced attack—combining timely hitting, power, and solid pitching—overwhelmed a Reds team fighting for NL Wild Card contention. As Milwaukee looks ahead to a series against the Padres, the Reds, now without Hunter Greene due to injury, face an uphill battle to regroup against the Diamondbacks.
