After an historic night, James Seltzer proclaims Shohei Ohtani is the greatest baseball players we've ever seen. Ohtnai joined MLB's 50/50 club. James lists all the records Shohei has.
Send us a Text Message.@yankees Aaron Judge was walked to lead off the bottom of the 2nd inning. Apparently the Blue Jays felt he was in scoring position (thanks @threeinningfan !), Jackson Holliday returned to replace the injured Jordan Westburg for the Orioles and he returned with bang in the form of a grand slam! #phillies are leaking oil but Zach Wheeler righted the ship on Sunday. Shohei Othani of the #dodgers joined the 30/30 club and has a shot to be the 1st member of the 50/50 club! Send us a Text Message. At least we got to see Paul Skenes pitch to Aaron Judge. It lasted all of one pitch however. The All-Star Game lost its juice years ago. Mark suggested counting All-Star stats in career totals. For whatever that would be worth. To add to that there are no longer Thursday games post All-Star break so four full days without real baseball that counts is awful! What's remaining in the 2024 season is essentially a pandemic-legnth season around 60 games. Too many to determine a team's fate, too few not to pay attention. The MLB trading deadline is July 30th and the next 10 days may shake up the baseball world - at least a bit. But the action may not occur until right at the deadline as too many teams have a chance. Particularly in the National League where only 2 teams (Marlins and Rockies) are truly out of the running. MLB also dropped the 2025 schedule which includes a season-starting series between the Dodgers and Cubs in Japan. Shohei Othani vs. Shota Imanaga is a pretty juicy prospect! Braves Max Fried had gotten off to a spotty start to his season but his 92 pitch shutout in an hour and 54 minutes vs. the Marlins announced he's just fine. Shohei Othani has 17 doubles already which is on pace for an all-time record. How about Elly De La Cruz? 1.7 bWAR in a month. If he keeps up what he's done in April he will have a bWAR more than 10 and 100+ stolen bases. The Guardians and Brewers continue to surprise, the Braves and Dodgers not so much. Happy Opening Day! In der Simulation out of the park die Saison 2024 zu Ende gespielt. Die Red Sox erreichen die Playoffs, in der AL gewinnen die Twins gegen die Orioles, in der NL die Braves (gegen die Giants) und in der World Series verlieren die Twins im 7. Spiel per Walk Off im 9. Jesse Nelson and Matt Hamilton roll on for this Hall Monitor Monday, as they continue their conversation about the Badgers dropping the ball in March once again with Friday's loss to James Madison in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Jesse and Matt discuss if we should change the bar/expectations from making the Sweet 16 under Bo Ryan to just making the NCAA Tourney under Greg Gard. Matt also questions if Gard is indeed the rest person for the program in the NIL era. Benny Bets himself joins for an early-week edition of Betting with Brust. Jesse and Matt pick Ben's brain as a former Badgers player on the Badgers extending their Sweet 16 drought to 7 straight seasons, if the Badgers will make the Sweet 16 in the next 4 seasons with Greg Gard still as head coach, and if it's time for AD Chris McIntosh to possibly move on from Gard. Ben also tells Jesse to stop complaining about how much money he lost in Dubuque, and they all give a lock for the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before picking a side in Primetime's Prop of the Week. Throwing Stones includes a question about what was "lost in translation" related to the alleged theft/gambling debts of Shohei Othani's interpreter. Jesse and Matt wrap up with Cross-Talk with the Great Dane Huddle, hosted by Alex Strouf and special guest Pablo Iglesias of WKOW, and they give their thoughts on today's poll question and bid farewell to Matt before he embarks on his European curling tour.
