It's been awhile but Paul and Nathan get together this very special Stampede time of year to discuss that for a bit before diving headfirst into why Nathan hasn't been around much. We discuss that new The Flash movie, a bunch of MCU stuff including problems with multiverse movies and Nathan has been playing Crusader of Centy, Wario's Woods and Plants Vs. Zombie. Also, what is the worst Mario game?

It's been awhile. The world has gone mad, but that's okay... just let us enjoy the things we enjoy okay? Maybe we were born in the worst situation for that, but still fuck Charlie Chaplin among others. Persona games have been taking up some time, along with a bunch of Diablo and the fake Metal Gear, even though you're not supposed to know that yet... since Kojima is such a visionary. Nothing makes a whole lot of sense, but we're back for now and that's all that matters, I think.

It's a big one, so get ready... The Nagoya basho is going on so of course a bit of sumo talk. It's been a year so we run down where Nathan has been, specifically about his sicknesses with COVID-19 and a rash of some sort that hospitalized him for a week! In TV: Seinfeld, King of the Hill and Bob's Burgers all get a bit of time until we dive into Stranger Things discussions (no spoilers) and whether the fourth season of that is actually any good. In books: New Yorker movie critic Pauline Kael's greatest hits get a new life on Nathan's iPad along with Berserk?! Also, Cruelly Yours, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark, and Leviathan Wakes (the first book of The Expanse series) The Outer Worlds is finally given it's due diligence and some baseball talks around Nathan seeing an Okotoks Dawgs game before getting a little bitter about The Batman and Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and in general the MCU Phase 4 properties at large. At least Jurassic World Dominion is good under the influence of some happy time drugs. To end things off, we have a discussion about Jeff Gerstmann leaving Giant Bomb and Nathan finally played Dungeons & Dragons when he and some friends got together to do the Tomb of Horror module. It's heat week in Calgary as the boys are losing their minds due to a "heat dome" or something. At least it's just their minds they're losing as things could be much worse... Nathan is back with tales of hot shingles in his area. In the mean time he's been playing lots more Mass Effect while Paul is almost done with NieR. It's Sumo-mania as the boys spend almost a whole hour talking about the Natsu Basho finals that just happened last weekend. Lots to say about the tournament, sumo in general and how under-represented the sport is in video games. Speaking of video games, Nathan is super into Mass Effect again and Paul is disappointed in Resident Evil Village speedruns (and wonders about them all in general due to it). It's a big week for sports as the Sumo Championships or whatever Nathan is super into is getting spicy. Also, basketball, but that's less important right now. Paul was late to the recording this week. Why? Well, we talk about it. Nathan is still playing ReCore although Giant Bomb may no longer be a podcast he can reliably listen to with the great departure. Paul dives deep into Resident Evil Village and talks at length about it. The two discuss the finer points of Predator 2 before getting into some real talk about family. It's COVID week as the boys are stuck at home waiting for test results to let them go back to work. What better time than to play video games? Nathan jumps onto (and promptly bounces off) Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice but finds some solace in the arms of Recore. Also, Golden Week sale on Steam gets him to drop some cash on a bunch of stuff, like Tekken. Paul jumps into Nier and its obvious the two will talk more at length about it soon. What happens when you eat an apple a day? You get a COVID vaccine, or something. Which is why Nathan is so chipper today. Also, a visit to the dentist is apparently a great time for some people. Nathan is back and in an extremely good mood. Is it medication? Is it profound happiness found within his life? Who knows? In a world of professionals, big ‘fucking’ guns and cats in banana peels, you realize that the only solace you feel are the cooperations of blocks falling rhythmically and wonder if things were ever actually as bad as you thought they were. The Cold War was settled and, all things aside, life is somewhat back to normal after a wink, prayer and some folk songs. But still you wonder… is this all? Or what if the Arrival was right all along?

This week, how did Nathan do in his quest to get an NES Classic mini emulation machine? Tune in to find out. We talk a bunch about Capcom, some more Resident Evil (go figure) and how Owlboy is kinda meh. Yeah, it’s been a slower week than normal.

Nathan comes over and we catch up on how our Halloweens were but unfortunately that wasn’t the scariest thing to happen since last cast. The parallel universe starts.

This week, Paul is underwhelmed but satisfied with Guardians of the Galaxy while Nathan cracks into his newly acquired Laser-Disc collection by watching Howard the Duck… and actually LIKES it?!? I don’t know but it’s obvious he doesn’t like The Sopranos: Road To Respect on the PlayStation 2 almost as much as Paul hates The Waste Land. Also, Paul retells a tale of burning toys in a fireplace.

Nathan watches a kid grow up in Boyhood while Paul plays more Dark Souls 2 in between waiting for ArcheAge queues. The Legend of Zelda games get talked through for a long while because Nathan jumps into Twilight Princess to find that it is actually quite good! Also, China can now legally sue Canada?!

A formal apology: it seems that our absence has created a rift in humanity that has resulted in racially charged riots, “gamers” being shitty people, “feminists” being equally as shitty people, celebrity pictures getting leaked and JonTron calling someone a name on twitter. We talk about all this craziness from the last month in one giant, 4-hour long fiesta… just look at how many tags there are at the bottom of this post! Also, what phallic foods are your favorites?

We celebrate Nathan’s birthday by talking about our feelings on The Terminal, Transsiberian and Deliver Us From Evil while Paul starts regaling the daunting task of learning EVE Online. As per usual, we discuss some local Calgary restaurants you should check out if you’re ever here and talk about how little we care about Comic Con San Diego. Also, Nathan admits to one of his deepest fears.

Nathan has been getting into some stuff he can get behind including Shovel Knight, Mario Kart 8 and True Detective (again). The moment i’m sure many of us have been waiting for… Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is finally out and Nathan has some thoughts about it! Also, some pretty flagrantly dismissive talk about some gross subject matter!

A new Transformers movie brings ire to Nathan and we learn what we look for when a Steam sale hits. Luckily, some Death Note and rewatching Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt keeps the blues away! Also, House of Cards might be the most well written show on TV? (It kind of has to be).

Hey Vern! This week Nathan completes his homework and talks about Mad City after getting confused about Neon Genesis Evangelion’s finale and pissing Paul off with descriptions of it. Also, who remembers Ernest movies?!

Nathan still is without internet, so because of this the whole podcast is recorded old school over THE PHONE! Where most podcasts might call this a lack of sound quality, we like to present you with a new “nostalgic feature”. Okay, we apologize if it’s hard to listen to because of this but please rest assured there is some good stuff here. Nathan sees that new Tom Cruise flick Edge Of Tomorrow and plans to blow up the internet after watching Transcendence. On the other hand, Paul enjoys a futuristic setting in Watch Dogs while simultaneously getting sick of it! Also, Catholic school indoctrination stories, why E3 isn’t discussed in this episode and how LAIR killed Paul’s gaming soul.

This week, Nathan packs up for a move and, in turn, has watched a bundle of movie not limited to but including Paycheck, Death Sentence, Olympus Has Fallen and 2012. But, it isn’t all “old-skool” as he also went to see XMen: Days Of Future Past. Paul, on the other hand, finally beats Dark Souls 2, plays a healthy amount of Wolfenstein: The New Order, Transistor and also has some first impressions on Watch Dogs (WITH NO “_” BETWEEN THE WORDS!). Also, is Lootcrate worth your time/money? Paul tells all!

Godzilla roars back into our hearts with the new 2014 release. How was it? Well, we talk a solid hour or so of it (including what some might call spoilers but, c’mon, you aren’t going to a Godzilla movie for “story”, right?). Transistor was released literally 12 hours before recording this so Nathan has a few opinions on it as well as some thoughts on Maximum Overdrive and World War Z. Paul is getting closer to finishing Dark Souls 2 and talks a bit about The International 4 (eSports, new hotness). Also, Google possibly buys Twitch or something. Does it matter? We have a few thoughts!

This week, Paul and Nathan are delighted to invite community favorite co-host and friend Carlos (AKA handsomefatman) of Two Fat Guys Talk Games back to talk some mess about Dragon’s Dogma, Superman movies and South Park. Nathan spends a whole bunch of time watching television stuff as he continues through The Sopranos and Mad Men while also trying to see what’s so good with Asura’s Wrath after revisiting 12 Angry Men and The Verdict. Paul is thoroughly happy with indie studio Mimimi Productions’ The Last Tinker: City of Color, less than impressed with Bound By Flame and logging his time into Dark Souls 2 finally! Also, we talk about Sound Man, the best Mega Man robot master boss!

Took a week off to collect our thoughts and coming back with the sickness (oooooh-wah-ah-ah-ah) and a 4.5 hour podcast! Site problems be damned, nothing will stop the podcast! Nathan visits an expo before getting grumpy about Amazing Spider-Man 2 while Paul gets a Wii U primarily for ZombiU and NES Remix 2. Into The Dark is a piece of garbage game (we explain why… just listen) and Sidney Lumet hated “teamsters”. Paul bores Nathan with an in-depth talk about WildStar (and MMOs in general) and Archeblade! Also, would you eat scorpions on pizza?!

Easter happened. Nathan watched Oculus, Paul watched a bunch of South Park and the two discuss how Plan Canada representatives have turned them into horrible people. Also, Nathan finds the quietest room in the world.

Throat problems and late night recordings lead Paul and Nathan to put on their bedroom voices and recount tales of becoming a serial killer in Harvester, surviving off the wasteland in Nether and finding the origins of “fahgettaboudit” from Donnie Brasco. Also, the merits of contemporary art and YouTube bait are discussed.

Although starting off as a World of Warcraft podcast, Ventchat has quickly become a favorite comedy show for many (including us at Pixel Response). With nothing more than a couple of base ideas per show, it's the chemistry between the four hosts ("Fen", "Esta", "Sauce" and "Turdhat" that takes the standard 'Morning Radio Show' format to something very unique and special. Fen was gracious enough to set aside some time to chat with Paul and we're happy to provide a small chunk of the talk to you in which the two discuss things like smoking, the podcast patent troll, anonymity on the internet and video games.
