On this episode of PS This is Awesome!, the crew dives into a packed week of PlayStation news and rumors.First up, The Blood of Dawnwalker finally has a release date, landing on September 3rd, 2026. A recent showcase gave us a deeper look at its story, gameplay systems, and RPG mechanics—and it's shaping up to be one of the most promising RPGs on PS5.Next, there's some big movement in the Final Fantasy VII remake saga. Director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that the third and final installment is gearing up for its official reveal, and he's already played through it over 40 times during development. With Remake and Rebirth heading to Xbox and Nintendo platforms, expectations are shifting toward the trilogy finale launching as a multi-platform title. A Summer Game Fest reveal could be right around the corner.Over at Remedy, the team behind Control Resonant is taking a bold creative stance. Art director Elmeri Raitanen says the studio intentionally avoided referencing other AAA games to keep their aesthetic fresh, warning that the industry risks falling into an “aesthetic singularity” if developers stop taking visual risks.Meanwhile, The Outer Worlds is getting a shake-up. The original version is being delisted on PS4 and PS5, but current owners will receive the Spacer's Choice Edition for free. That said, given the remaster's rough launch, there's some cautious optimism that it'll be in better shape this time around. In the VR space, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has officially landed on PSVR2 via a new update. Early impressions are strong, though minor performance issues may keep it from overtaking Gran Turismo 7 as the platform's standout experience. And finally, the rumor mill is heating up: signs are pointing toward NetherRealm working on Injustice 3, thanks to a developer resume listing the project. It's not official yet—but it's the strongest hint we've seen in a while. All that and more on this episode of PS This is Awesome!Visit www.patreon.com/psthisisawesome to support the show and help us continue producing the content you love! Please, if you enjoyed the content — or even if you didn't quite enjoy this one — come back. Send us Fan MailWe react to the PMDG 737-700 release for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and the reality that many of us keep paying to upgrade aircraft we already know by heart. We also zoom out to the bigger flight sim add-on market, where competition shapes prices, trust, and what finally gets built for sim pilots. • PMDG 737-700 for MSFS 2024 impressions and what you actually get • upgrade pricing fatigue and the “utility bill” mindset • why PMDG stays the default choice for many Boeing simmers • how the Operations Center and consistent workflow influence buying • lack of serious Boeing competition compared with Airbus saturation • Black Square Caravan love and why slow aircraft can be elite • VATSIM realities when you bring turboprops into jet traffic • AnyBuilds L1011 TriStar release and why the real aircraft struggled • X-Plane ERJ update issues and frustrations with regression bugs • regional jet gaps and the A220 wishlist • the surprise second A350 project and questions buyers should ask If you have not gotten your FSExpo tickets yet, please go and do so. It's another week of bad news for PlayStation, as PlayStation 5 -- as well as PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal -- are getting another fresh round of global price increases. While every previous gaming generation got progressively cheaper over time, our current gen is becoming substantially more expensive, and things are clearly starting to get to a breaking point. There's much to say. Also, more bad news: Newly-minted first party shooter studio Dark Outlaw Games has been unceremoniously shuttered after only a year. Such a move speaks yet again to the uneven leadership, tastemaking ability, and decision making at the top of PlayStation Studios, and begs the question how much bloodletting we need to see before anyone takes responsibility. If this sort of thing doesn't fall on Hermen Hulst's shoulders (an idea which doesn't really make any sense in and of itself), then who or what is responsible, and when will the poor stewardship of the brand's own games and studios finally cease? Plus: PlayStation cuts down on its years-long mobile gaming investments and initiatives, Sly 4 studio Sanzaru at one time readied a pitch for a Jak & Daxter remake, we nearly got a Breaking Bad game on PSVR, Epic Games lays off 1,000 employees, Pearl Abyss owns its AI mistakes in Crimson Desert, Microsoft Flight Simulator on PS5 gets PSVR2 support, Marathon sells a purported (and somewhat soft) 1.2 million copies, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! With Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth courting older gamers on average, is Final Fantasy officially finished with the younger generations? Are platform holders and publishers intentionally underpublishing physical copies of games to drive customers to digital storefronts? Do we believe the incessant rumors that Witcher 3 will get an expansion more than a decade after it first launched? Could Colin be the undisputed typing champion of Last Stand Media? What if a simple webcam could unlock your computer and games without touching a mouse? We sit down with SensePilot co-founder Mike Hazlewood to unpack how head tracking and facial gestures become fast, precise inputs for everyday work and high-stakes play. Built for Windows and running entirely on-device, SensePilot keeps latency low, privacy intact, and enterprise approvals realistic—no cloud uploads, no special hardware.Mike traces the journey from a 2024 hackathon to a 2025 launch, where a bold idea met real-world testing. A friend with a spinal cord injury wanted to play Call of Duty again; designing for that level of precision made everything else—from Excel to email—more usable. Collaborations with SpecialEffect in the UK and a Ukrainian NGO supporting veterans revealed just how varied needs are, from ALS and muscular dystrophy to RSI and carpal tunnel. That diversity drove SensePilot's granular approach: tune trigger strengths, build unique profiles for desktop vs. gaming, and even switch profiles inside a single title for driving, flying, or on-foot movement. We also dig into the bigger picture of accessible technology and AI. On-device processing lowers security barriers and keeps assistive tools resilient when networks fail. Thoughtful AI support can speed text input and streamline workflows without replacing human judgment. The key is specificity—narrow, task-focused agents outperform generic models for accessibility testing and coding, while keeping the person's intent front and center.Looking ahead, Mike shares a vision for mainstream inclusion: optional head-tracking onboarding inside games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, letting anyone try hands-free immersion with one click. No wearables, no extra gear—just a webcam and curiosity. If accessible input becomes a standard feature, everyone wins: gamers gain immersion, and people with disabilities gain flexible, independent control. If this resonates, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review. Curious to try hands-free control? Grab the free trial at sensepilot.tech and tell us which game or task you'll tackle first.Send a textSupport the showFollow axschat on social media.Bluesky:Antonio https://bsky.app/profile/akwyz.com Debra https://bsky.app/profile/debraruh.bsky.social Neil https://bsky.app/profile/neilmilliken.bsky.social axschat https://bsky.app/profile/axschat.bsky.social LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/antoniovieirasantos/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/axschat/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/neilmilliken/Vimeohttps://vimeo.com/akwyzhttps://twitter.com/axschathttps://twitter.com/AkwyZhttps://twitter.com/neilmillikenhttps://twitter.com/debraruh

The "where are the games?!" crowd is having a bad week, because PlayStation's most recent State of Play showed that plenty is indeed incoming for your PS5. For starters, Insomniac's long-dormant Wolverine has reemerged. Revealed four years ago and having clearly gone through some tribulations behind-the-scenes, Wolverine is slated for PlayStation 5 next fall, and it looks violent and grisly in all the right ways. Coming sooner from first party, however, is Housemarque's Returnal sequel Saros, launching in March of '26. It looks awesome, and we're to get back to shootin'. But as if these two games didn't give us enough to talk about, there's more: Microsoft Flight Simulator is the next Xbox-aligned game PS5-bound (with Forza Horizon 6 somewhere behind it), the original Deus Ex is getting the remaster treatment, a God of War DualSense has been revealed in recognition of the franchise's 20th anniversary, Kojima both revealed a Physint poster and showed off his new horror title OD, and much more. Then: Listener inquiries! What's going on with the PS5 Pro's many technical issues? Will NetEase's F2P game Ananta be as insane as it seems? Why do we have such a problem with the premise of licensed games? Is Boar's Head's fine deli meat becoming too expensive for the average consumer? Brett Clark is Director Global Sales at Blackshark. Blackshark is an incredible company. They are responsible for the global 3D world of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Now they have a system called ORCA™ HUNTR. This is a no-code environment enabling users—with little to no coding or AI background—to train, test, and deploy object detection and classification models on RGB imagery, including satellite, aerial, drone, or even JPEG/video frames. It also offers real-time feedback during training: as you label (“scribble” with a crayon-like brush), it immediately shows model results and entropy metrics, guiding where more data is needed. Listen in for an example of how this system was put into action for the #LAFires response. They used it to detect 300 buildings the county was unaware of. This matters for clean up after fires, because there is significantly more debris and material movement to plan for. Brett was a supremely cool dude. I have interviewed some of the finest operators in sales in geospatial on this podcast. Brett is clearly the best so far.

Send us a textWelcome back to the Ones Ready Daily Drop, where we lovingly sift through Air Force public affairs briefings so you don't have to—and by “lovingly” we mean “roast everything that deserves it.” Jared rips through the military's latest fitness failures, missile launches, undersea cable nightmares, and why Boeing can't seem to build a plane that doesn't break straight out of the factory. We also talk about fat reservists gaming the system with "miracle shots," phantom missile tests named "Dark Eagle," politicians who aren't even worth the dog poop on your boot, and the grim reality of post-GWOT cancer risks. Meanwhile, Microsoft Flight Simulator is somehow making command news because... priorities, right? If you like your news unfiltered, slightly unhinged, and 100% funnier than the briefing you'll get from your crusty commander — welcome home.
SimCityhttps://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2013/05/the-philosophy-of-simcity-an-interview-with-the-games-lead-designer/275724

But when all of the accessories are the same color and video game lines get drawn in the sand, nostalgia and redundancy keep the pod sausage factory humming. Which aircraft probably costs extra in Microsoft Flight Simulator? What's the most tedious way to play Scrabble? Who can fill in the gaps left by dinger pills? To say 2024 resembled a year of change for Xbox would be a bit of an understatement. Heading into a new year, the brand had all the momentum they had finally been seeking. They just delivered great, high profile exclusives in 2023 with the likes of a new Forza Motorsport, Starfield, and Hi Fi Rush, Game Pass delivered GOTY level experiences, and the Activision deal was finally done. Now, it was time to get down to business for the rest of the generation and Xbox did just that, only not in the way we expected. The reality is that the aforementioned momentum we all thought Xbox has ended up meaning very little. Their gaming brand barely generated profits in the final quarter of the year despite a highly anticipated Bethesda Game Studios game leading the charge. It was time for change and they made plenty. At the end of 2024, Xbox is now a multi-platform publisher, their dedication to future hardware is in question, and the social commentary surrounding their games has started to get messy. Combined with low quality deliveries in Shattered Space and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 as well as how divisive the long sought after Hellblade 2 ended up being and you have quite a lot to sift through. In a year full of negatives, can the Dukes find the positives, if any? How does 2025 shape up for Xbox with these changes now solidified? There's quite a bit to parse through, so let's get into one of the busiest years for Xbox. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Contrary to their usual behavior, Xbox's communication has left no room for guessing as of late. In a recent marketing campaign titled "This Is An Xbox," the team showed a plethora of devices that you can access the Xbox ecosystem from. Following our conversation about Phil Spencer's interview with Bloomberg, the message already seemed clear that multi-platform is the future. Now, that message is crystal clear and there is no going back. The Dukes dive into the meaning behind this ad and, of course, what caveats may lie within their messaging as Phil was quick to assure console users that there would be more hardware. With plummeting hardware sales, why would Xbox seemingly abandon an install base of over 30 million users and risk damaging the start of their next generation? This becomes an even bigger question when their push on mobile is in its early beginnings and its PC app desperately needs work. The Xbox experience is best on the console, so what gives? Naturally, we have a lot to say on that, but we also have much to say on GAMES! The Dukes had a chance to go hands-on with Avowed in a digital preview event and things are shaping up quite nicely for Obsidian's next RPG. We get into the thick of our builds, choices, exploration, and even some bugs. We also dive into the hotly anticipated S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 which has faced much adversity in its lead up to launch. Now it's here and Matty has some thoughts after over 15 hours with the game so far. Plus more on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024's disastrous launch, The Game Awards GOTY nominee kerfuffle, Starfield's November update, and plenty more in an episode with seemingly endless subjects to dive into! Nov. 27 would be Bruce Lee's 84th birthday, and that's as good an excuse as any to get Anthony Abatte on for a howl-filled discussion of our favorite unauthorized Bruce Lee knockoffs in fighting games. Then we'll talk about STALKER 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Great God Grove, The Game Awards 2024 nominations, and the songs you associate with specific videogames (that didn't include them). Question of the Week: What's the least fulfilled you've ever felt after finishing a game? Break song is Be Like Water by RZA. Vidjagame Apocalypse theme by Matthew Joseph Payne.
