Mary Shea's career is proof that you don't have to stick to one soundtrack. From a classical musician to a leading voice in sales leadership, she's taken some bold risks—and in this first episode of a three-part series, she's sharing the lessons she learned along the way. As General Manager of Hire Quotient and former co-CEO of Mediafly, Mary is on a mission to amplify underrepresented voices and reshape sales leadership. With insights from her time at Forrester, she also dives into the digital transformation of sales and how creativity plays a bigger role in business than you might think. Key Highlights of Our Interview: From Music to Business “I started as a classical musician, playing with the Mexico City Philharmonic and Guadalajara Symphony. But when the career palette felt too small, I took a leap into business, changing my life forever.” Sales: The Great Equalizer “Sales is one of the few fields where hard work and skill can lead to financial independence, regardless of where you start. That independence allows you to make meaningful changes in your life and others'.” Playing Catch-Up with Purpose “Coming into the business world with a PhD put me 10 years behind my peers, but it also ignited a fire. I moved quickly, knowing every opportunity was critical to closing that gap.” Creating the Playbook “I'm not just about managing to a playbook—I love creating it. The intellectual stimulation of building strategies with teams and seeing them succeed is what drives me.” _________________________ Connect with us: Host: Vince Chan | Guest: Mary Shea PhD --Chief Change Officer-- Change Ambitiously. Forecast: High pressure systems of infrastructure attacks continues to build over U.S. utilities with scattered exploitation attempts, while the vulnerability forecast shows increasing cloudiness around CPE data availability. In today's episode, we're diving into network fingerprinting and vulnerability management with some fascinating developments in the cybersecurity landscape. Our featured guest is John Althouse, the creator of JA4+, who has developed an innovative suite of network fingerprinting methods that's making waves in threat detection. JA4+ builds on previous fingerprinting techniques but takes things further with human-readable formats and enhanced detection capabilities. John's work comes at a critical time, as we've seen an uptick in zero-day exploits targeting enterprise networks throughout 2023. The latest CISA report highlights how threat actors are becoming more sophisticated in their approaches, particularly in exploiting vulnerabilities before patches can be deployed. Speaking of vulnerabilities, we've got some concerning news about critical infrastructure security. Recent findings have exposed potential vulnerabilities in around 300 U.S. drinking water systems, highlighting the ongoing challenges in protecting our essential services. This ties directly into the importance of tools like JA4+ for detecting and preventing unauthorized access to critical systems. We're also discussing an interesting development in vulnerability management - VulnCheck's NVD++ initiative. They're outpacing NIST's National Vulnerability Database by providing CPE data for nearly 77% of CVEs published in 2024, compared to NIST's 41%. This is particularly relevant given the recent disruption in CPE data availability from the NVD. Throughout our conversation, we'll explore how these developments intersect and what they mean for the future of cybersecurity, especially in protecting critical infrastructure and managing vulnerabilities effectively. John's insights on JA4+ and its applications in real-world threat detection scenarios are particularly valuable as organizations face increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss the division rival Baltimore Ravens landing former Steelers WR Diontae Johnson in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. We also discuss the rumor that the New York Giants won't be trading WR Darius Slayton. Does this intensify the Steelers need to acquire another WR or did the performances of Calvin Austin III and Van Jefferson mean they don't need to go get one? What did we make of the offensive and defensive performances against the New York Giants? Should the team consider breaking their tradition of not signing players to contract extensions in season for Russell Wilson? Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss! Tāmaki Makaurau is bouncing back after a chaotic few years, but still playing catch-up to other global cities. The second annual State of the City report released today shows housing affordability and transport infrastructure are lagging behind. It calls for significant investment and planning to kickstart projects with the speed, scale and coordination required. Business of Cities Managing Director Tim Moonen told Mike Hosking Auckland re-entered the global economy later than nearly every city of its size. “The return to tourism, the return of investment, the return of business, jobs, people who are mobile moving around has been a bit slower. We expect that gap to bridge but it's still there two years on.” LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Looking after crops and maintaining a resilient food supply is as important now as it has ever been. But the challenges farmers are facing are growing, from inflation to a growing population and climate change - and all with sustainable agriculture front of mind. In this episode of the Food Matters Live podcast, made in partnership with CropLife Europe, we explore the role biopesticides could play in helping to ease some of the pressure on our food producers. Biopesticides are pesticides produced using naturally occurring substances such as plants, microbes, or biochemicals. They offer opportunities for protecting crops from pests and diseases and have a more favourable toxicological safety profile compared to conventional pesticides. In many parts of the world, they are widely used and new products can make it to market within a couple of years. In Europe, things are moving, but much more slowly. The question is: is Europe playing catch-up? This episode looks at how biopesticides are currently being used in Europe, how they might be used in future, and whether or not current regulations are in need of a shake-up. Guest: Olivier de Matos, Director General, CropLife Europe

(2/28/24) Market futures are not doing a whole lot this morning, which has been the story for stocks the past few days: Small- and Mid-cap stocks look improved in the short term with the recent sideways consolidation. But there is a very big lag between large-cap stocks and the rest of the market. Speculation in Small- and mid-cap stocks is reaching rather extreme levels. About 40% of these companies are trading, but have negative earnings, which will impact valuations going forward. Remember, these smaller companies are more susceptible to any economic slowdown. The Volatility Index continues to remain exceptionally low with no fear in the market. A higher level of volatility could provide the fuel for a change in the markets' fortunes. The idea of energy “conservation” was new to Americans in 1973. Experiencing a first-of-its-kind gasoline shortage, the U.S. began to encourage fuel efficiency in cars and homes. If President Ronald Reagan hadn’t reversed such commitments, would renewable energy be ubiquitous today? Plus, doing without: manufacturing without temp workers, the Fed without government economic data and NYC without Airbnb.

Meanwhile, President Biden has continued touring the U.S., touting his economic accomplishments that the White House has branded ‘Bidenomics.' Co-director of the Fox News Poll and professor at the University of Texas at Austin, Daron Shaw, joins the Rundown to explain what lanes exist for GOP primary candidates as the former President maintains strong support, how the Hunter Biden situation could threaten President Biden's favorability advantage in the election, and how social issues are throwing a wrench in 2024 campaigns. On the Rundown, Phil Flynn, an oil trader and FOX Business Network contributor, discusses why the Biden administration's release of barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was only a short-term solution, why electric vehicles aren't a realistic option for working-class Americans, and shares why people think the rise in prices is unexpected due to the Department of Energy underreporting oil demand for the past six months. Plus, commentary by Fox & Friends co-host and host of The Brian Kilmeade Show, Brian Kilmeade. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Republicans claim to have shut down the emergency declaration, but meanwhile, Biden is already pushing Warp Speed 2.0 before the GOP is willing to even fight the first vaccine genocide. Republicans are finally discussing the border now that their solutions would no longer work. Likewise, they are finally dealing with the trans issue, but only regarding female sports. Also, they spent years promoting domestic surveillance. Now the FBI and Homeland Security are sowing disquiet among Americans to foment chaos and further facilitate centralized authority. We already are China but don't even realize it. Finally, we're joined by Brad Geyer, a former DOJ attorney representing hundreds of people whose loved ones were killed by remdesivir. One of his lawyers just succeeded in advancing an anti-fraud suit against a California hospital for the use of remdesivir, which led to the death of a patient. Learn more about your ad choices.
