The Palliative Care Society of the Bow Valley was born from a personal experience and a community need. Founded ten years ago, it aimed to build a local hospice facility after a resident faced long travel distances for end-of-life care. Now, the Society has grown from a volunteer-run to a fundraising campaign to build the hospice, expanding palliative care services across the Bow Valley community. Joining us today to tell us more about the Palliative Care Society is Theresa Radwell, the CEO. Theresa also opens up about a unique opportunity to be part of the organization, a pivotal role in making a real difference in the lives of those facing end-of-life challenges.

These days, it seems like it is better to keep our opinions to ourselves for fear of offending others. We see this not only among individuals but also corporations. There is a tendency to just put our heads in the sand to avoid any engagement. Observing this, Seth David Radwell describes a collapse of political dialogue in the country. And he has written a bestselling book that will take us deep into this current state. In this episode, he joins Anne Pratt to tell us all about American Schism. Seth gives a sneak peek into the history of rifts and divisions that we still see nowadays. Using history as a great teacher, he then shares the lessons we can learn to move past the division. Follow along to this enlightening episode and, with Seth, analyze, understand, and see how he inspires hope to bring back rational political discourse, so we can build a better and progressive society.Love the show? Rosie Radwell recently marked her 20th year as MD at the Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth. During that time, both the hotel and Rosie herself have won multiple awards, and Marsham Court continues to be a flagship venue on the south coast. Rosie's family have been hoteliers in Bournemouth for 70 years, and she talks about the impact this has had on her, and about the pleasures and pressures of continuing that proud family legacy. Also covered are the importance of building loyalty with guests, staff and contractors, how she competes with the big hotel chains, coping with the upheavals of post-Covid travel, and what she learned from a significant period of family loss and turbulence.
Welcome to Ep 25 of Radwell Automation Nation. In this episode, we are going to get a bit more personal. I want to share with you a bit about Radwell International. We provide a lot of products, services and resources to many companies in just about any industry there is. For those who don't know much about us or what we do, it can get confusing. Normally this podcast isn't a platform we use as an advertising tool because that is not what it's about. But we recently produced a new About Us video, outlining who we are and what we do. Since I know that everyone does not watch videos, I decided to take this opportunity to share some of that video with our listeners in audio form. So here we are and let's get started. This podcast is brought to you by Radwell International https://www.radwell.com Email for Podcast Questions or Feedback: automationnation@radwell.comHost: Julie Basello jbaselloholt@radwell.com Production: Julie Basello Marketing and Promotion: Julie BaselloLinks: Radwell Automation Nation Podcast http://podcast.radwell.com
Welcome to Ep 24 of Radwell Automation Nation. In the previous 23 episodes of this podcast, we have shared a lot of information and had a variety of guests join us. We've introduced you to manufacturers. We've discussed topics relevant to the manufacturing industry with internal and external subject matter experts. We've discussed ways to solve operational problems. In this episode, we are going a little off the normal path. Not too far off but a bit off. Are you intrigued? Well, if you aren't you should be. Because this episode is: Get to Know Your Hosts. And Rob and I are awesome. Right, Rob? Rob and I are going to have a discussion about a variety of topics, mostly related to business, to give you a behind the scenes look at who we are and what we bring to the table. When he isn't co-hosting this podcast with me, Rob is the Branch Manager of Radwell's location in Franklin, Indiana. He has been with Radwell for 15 years. He began his Radwell career in 2007 in the IT department as an IT Systems Administrator. He has a background in electronics, building network switching systems and surface mount circuit boards as well as a background in sales. Soon he assumed the role of IT Operations Manager with Radwell and absorbed the IT support team while building the Network infrastructure team. This team built Radwell's Global network when the company expanded into Europe and Canada. IN 2014 he accepted the role as Branch Manager for the first expanded branch in the US in Indiana. He relocated his family, and worked to build the Indiana team, complete the build out of the operation we acquired, as well as growing the business. Radwell Indiana grew from $8 million in total revenue in 2014 to $27.4 million at the completion of 2021. Now let's talk about Julie. Julie is in charge of Radwell's Multimedia and has worked for Radwell for almost 8 years. She brings a lot of experience to her role at Radwell. She has been a professional photographer for many years and she is also a video content creator, a video producer, a writer, a podcaster, a small business social media and marketing coach and a voiceover artist. And that's when she isn't at work at Radwell. Prior to joining Radwell, she segued a successful corporate operations management career (in multiple industries) into owning and operating her own art gallery representing over 200 American artists. She also owned her own photography studio prior to coming on board and Radwell and she still shoots for clients today. Here at Radwell, Julie is in charge of all things media. She handles marketing photography, video production, writing/editing and curating Radwell's blog, producing and cohosting this podcast and crafting and scheduling all content for Radwell's social media presence. You can also hear her voice in many of Radwell's videos on our YouTube channel. She has traveled worldwide to each of Radwell's locations and has documented company history through video, writing and photography since she started in 2014. Well, now that we've got that out of the way, let's get started on this fabulous chat of ours. In this episode we chat about some real world topics near and dear to our hearts.
In our first interview episode, we get the extraordinary opportunity to speak with author Seth Radwell and discuss his Amazon bestselling book American Schism: How the Two Enlightenments Hold the Secret to Healing Our Nation. We discuss with Seth why he felt compelled to take a hiatus from a very successful career in business and the lessons we can draw from his reading of philosophy and history. We then dive into how those ideas can be applied today to understand our current situation and to correct the current ailments of our broken political system. Seth has recently started a campaign on college campuses to "fight unreason with reason" which you can support or join at https://fuwr.org Buy the book American Schism https://www.amazon.com/American-Schism-Enlightenments-Secret-Healing/dp/1626348618 Follow Seth: Twitter: @SRadwell https://www.linkedin.com/in/sradwell https://www.facebook.com/sethdradwell/ Music: Beauty Flow by Kevin Macleod
You can't talk politics at work. Maybe that is the problem. Seth Radwell the author of American Schism talks about how it might be our job as business owners to have factual political dialogue at work. There are always at least two sides to every story and hearing the facts from the other side can make a big difference. Seth gives us the tools to have a fact-based non-aggressive discourse about topics that affect us as citizens. Check out the findings and more here at https://sethdavidradwell.com/
Are we more divided today than we have ever been and what is the implication for our democratic republic going forward? Well the first part of that question seems rhetorical and to the second part of the question, I would ask, “is there any way possible we can heal the nation and bridge the chasm or should I say schism?” Fortunately for me (and you), I don't have to answer that and I certainly don't have the answers, but perhaps Seth Radwell, author of American Schism does. Join us at 1pm EST for a spirited discussion! I'll be giving away a Chibi Galaxy NFT today (and you can still enter by subscribing to the show and pasting your username in the giveaways channel in my discord – links below) Have any questions for Seth or just want a shoutout on air? Two disparate Americas have always coexisted. In this thoroughly researched, engaging and ultimately hopeful story of our nation's divergent roots, Seth David Radwell clearly links the fascinating history of the two American Enlightenments to our raging political division. He also demonstrates that reasoned analysis and historical perspective are the only antidote to irrational political discourse.“Did my vision of America ever exist at all, or was it but a myth?” Searching for a fresh and distinctive perspective on the recent corrosion of our civic life, Radwell's very personal and yet broadly shared question propelled his search back to our nation's founding for a fresh and distinctive perspective on the recent corrosion of our civic life - and led to a surprising discovery. Today's battles reflect the fundamentally divergent visions of our country that emerged at our nation's founding and have been vying for prominence ever since. The founding principles that shaped the United States may be rooted in the Enlightenment era. But the origin of our dual Americas is a product of two distinct Enlightenments - Radical and Moderate.American Schism begins with a quick reintroduction to the pre-Enlightenment Middle Ages and then takes readers on an in-depth journey through the revolutionary Enlightenment period including the eventual schism that began in Europe but then found its way to American shores. Radwell shows the impact of this schism on American history from the early expansion of the U.S. through Jim Crow and The Age of Trumpism. In an optimistic and rigorous final section, Radwell lays out an analysis of our current governmental structure and a plan to move forward, demonstrating that it is only by embracing Enlightenment principles that we can build a civilized, progressive, and tolerant society - where Americans can firmly ground their different views in rationality.HOST: Rob MellonFEATURED BREW: Outta Line West Coast IPA, Rogue Ales, Portland, OregonBOOK: American Schism: How the Two Enlightenments Hold the Secret to Healing our Nation https://www.amazon.com/American-Schism-Enlightenments-Secret-Healing/dp/1626348618/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1643778919&sr=8-1MUSIC: Bones Forkhttps://bonesfork.com/
Welcome to Ep 21 of Radwell Automation Nation. In this episode, we are going to talk about something that recently came across my radar as an interesting topic. I spoke to Rob about it and we figured out listeners might find the topic interesting as well. So here we are. Our guest in this episode is Michael Bonto and our topic is aviation opportunities for engineers. Let's give Mike a proper introduction. Ever since he can remember, Mike's been fascinated by any type of aircraft or anything aerospace related. In 1987, he took his first intro ride in a single engine two seat airplane, which led to him eventually earning his pilot certificate and ratings. Since then, he has always been involved in aviation directly or indirectly. It has taken him through many wonderful experiences, from meeting and interacting with aviation professionals, private pilots, and fun flights to running a flying club and flying school. Mike currently runs a program for Innovation Engineering in Aeronautics. The program is South Jersey Aero Foundation. The goal of this program is to inspire the further pursuit of a career in aviation and aeronautical engineering while developing the necessary foundation of technological and analytical skills. This will be achieved through the completion of small projects designed to introduce current technologies that are directly applicable to problems in aviation. If anyone is qualified to discuss opportunities for engineers in the aviation field, it's definitely Mike Bonto. Rob and I were talking recently about the variety of products and service Radwell offers and it got me thinking. The basis of everything we do is to keep our customers operations running. We offer a ton of products and services with that one purpose in mind. One of those offerings is field service engineering. Field Service Engineering is when Radwell engineers and repair technicians go onsite at a customer's manufacturing facility to help them troubleshoot through issues. Now, we don't like to brag, but we do want to give proper credit to the amazing repair and engineering teams we have at Radwell. They navigate all kinds of issues with all kinds of parts and manufacturers successfully. We thought it might be interesting to have a chat with two of those amazing people. The two we are speaking with in this episode are from our Engineering Dept at Radwell headquarters in NJ. They have often been tasked to head out to customer locations on behalf of Radwell and help in whatever way they can. Randy Bracy is Director of Engineering at Radwell. He has been with the company for 11 years and he is one of those people that can literally fix anything. It's just the way his brain works. Brandon Buehler is Engineering Production Manager. He has been with Radwell for 13 years. He is also a wizard when it comes to the ins and outs of industrial automation parts and products. He is also a repair genius with a natural ability to fix mechanical and electronic things. In this episode, Randy and Brandon give us a behind the scenes look at some stories from their time working on field service for customers. The founding principles that shaped the United States may be rooted in the Enlightenment era. But the origin of our dual Americas is a product of two distinct Enlightenments - Radical and Moderate. Radwell shows the impact of this schism on American history from the early expansion of the U.S. through Jim Crow and The Age of Trumpism. In an optimistic final section, Radwell lays out an analysis of our current governmental structure and a plan to move forward, arguing that it is only by embracing Enlightenment principles that we can build a civilized, progressive, and tolerant society - where Americans can firmly ground their different views in rationality. Pundits on both the left and right proclaim our democracy is in crisis. This can be characterized by an eroding of civil institutions or politicians completely ignoring democratic norms by doing whatever is necessary to seek power and asking “where are the nuclear launch codes?” However, these challenges may not be so new. And the fault lines in our society may be centuries old and stem back to the beginning of the Enlightenment, when scholars asked fundamental questions of how we know what is and isn't true, and how do we order our society along those principles. Different intellectuals had different solutions, so you have the American Revolution on one hand, and the French Revolution on the other. But today's guest, Seth David Radwell a researcher of the Enlightenment and A business leader with a master's degree in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, argues that our political divisions are not “unprecedented.” In his book, American Schism: How the Two Enlightenments Hold the Secret to Healing Our Nation, Radwell , proposes a new dialogue between thoughtful and concerned Americans from both red and blue states who make up the exhausted majority—a dialogue informed by our country's history.Increasingly disturbed by the contentious state of politics, social unrest, and the apparent disappearance of “truth,” Radwell set out to examine his own long-held assumptions about American democracy and ideals. Through a deep dive into foundational documents and the influence of the European Enlightenment, he discovered today's raging conflicts have their roots in the fundamentally different visions of America that emerged at our nation's founding. In American Schism, Radwell looks at our country's history and ongoing political tensions through the lens of the Radical Enlightenment versus the Moderate Enlightenment, and their dynamic interplay with Counter-Enlightenment movements over the last few centuries. He offers a new vision for America with practical action steps for repairing our rift and healing our wounds.
Seth David Radwell, author of American Schism: How the Two Enlightenments Hold the Secret to Healing Our Nation, is an internationally-known business executive and thought leader in consumer marketing. Earning a Master's degree in Public Policy, from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, Mr. Radwell believes our democracy is in crisis today—and will remain so as long as we allow the extreme ends of the partisan spectrum to dominate our political debate. Instead, Radwell proposes a dialogue between those Americans who make up the exhausted majority, dedicated to a new threefold mission: to educate the public about our country's political history in the hopes of recommitting to our shared democratic values; to re-establish a civil and rational discussion to replace our divisive contemporary political discourse; and, to commence the long process of healing our nation for future generations. In the book, Radwell offers caring Americans from every red and blue state—and those who question the system in which our country is built on—the opportunity to connect our history with the current events that have tested our freedom.Prior to devoting his full-time to writing American Schism, Mr. Radwell served as President of e-Scholastic, the digital arm of the global children's publishing and education conglomerate. In earlier roles he was President, Bookspan/Bertelsmann, where he was responsible for all editorial, marketing, media and digital functions for such iconic brands as Book of the Month Club, Doubleday Book Club, and Literary Guild—transforming the paper-based direct marketing business to multi-channel platforms. Under this sector, Radwell also conceived and developed the Black Expressions, and Mosaico Clubs, dedicated to expanding this retail channel to a diverse readership.Seth David Radwell received a Master's degree in Public Policy, from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Seth David Radwell was puzzled when he noticed his colleagues were increasingly less inclined to discuss topics of national interest. “How are we,” he says, “as a democratic republic, going to forge solutions if we can't even discuss the problem?” Radwell says the way to reignite robust public discussion is to embrace enlightenment values--objectivity, science, and tolerance. Radwell's deeply researched book, “American Schism: How the Two Enlightenments Hold the Secret to Healing Our Nation,” explores the roots of discord through an analysis of how the moderate and radical strands of enlightenment thought clashed throughout history and into modern times. We hope you enjoy this lively conversation between Radwell and Watching America host, Dr. Alan Campbell. sethdavidradswell.com SETH DAVID RADWELL is an internationally known business executive with a Master's degree in Public Policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude from Columbia University.
