WLU offers classes to those interested in being a commercial airline pilot, corporate pilot, cargo pilot, flight instructor or aerospace operations manager. I'm so excited to welcome Ross Mitchell, the Vice President of Global Marketing at BrainsWay, to the show today! Ross is leading the charge in healthcare marketing, especially in mental health, where he's helping to spread the word about innovative treatments that make a real difference in people's lives. Ross has been working with Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or Deep TMS, a groundbreaking therapy that's changing how we approach conditions like depression, OCD, and smoking addiction. With his experience from leadership roles at companies like Medtronic and Clorox Healthcare, Ross combines deep industry knowledge with a strong, patient-focused approach. At BrainsWay, he's guiding a mission to open up new avenues in mental health and recovery. In this episode, we'll dive into the benefits of Deep TMS, BrainsWay's mission, and how this therapy is bringing new hope and wellness to so many. Ross will break down the science and impact of this non-invasive outpatient treatment, which uses targeted electromagnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain. We'll explore everything from who might benefit most to the incredible outcomes patients are seeing in just a few weeks. [03:51] We met about a month ago at the BrainsWay conference. We've seen amazing results with TMS. [04:38] Ross has been with BrainsWay for about 7 years. At first, no one really knew about TMS. Now most psychiatrists are very familiar with it. [05:48] Ross is well aware that mental health and addiction is a huge issue. [06:04] Deep TMS stands for deep transcranial magnetic stimulation. It's a non-invasive outpatient procedure which uses an electromagnetic coil embedded in a helmet. It generates electromagnetic pulses that target specific areas of the brain. [07:01] They are FDA cleared to treat depression, OCD, and smoking addiction. [08:01] TMS is usually used along with other modalities. [09:39] The electromagnetic coil targets areas of the brain that aren't functioning the way we would expect. [10:45] The bread and butter of TMS is treating depression. [12:26] They've seen phenomenal results using this technique. [13:14] We learn about the ideal candidate for TMS. [14:11] Ross explains the outpatient procedure for TMS. The Dropout rates are remarkably low. [16:27] The standard treatment is 20 minutes, but there are new modalities coming out like the theta verse. [18:53] We are still discovering things about TMS, but we do know that the more sessions you do the more people continue to improve. [20:59] The stimulation for depression also helps improve anxiety problems. [22:37] Having therapy after TMS can be helpful. [24:50] A lot of people start to see meaningful benefits within two weeks. [28:27] BrainsWay is based in Israel, but most of their operations are in the US. Their mission is to focus on mental health and improve the lives of patients. [33:29] There's a lot of misinformation about TMS. Your risk of seizure is low and it's not ECT. TMS is very safe. Ross Mitchell, Executive Director of Glen Foerd, discussed the 18-acre public park and historic site located along the Delaware River in Philadelphia, and a Fairmount Park property operated by the Glen Foerd Conservation Corporation in cooperation with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation. Built in 1850 and enlarged in 1902-03, the estate—consisting of historic gardens, an Italianate-Classical Revival style mansion, and multiple additional structures—was saved from potential development through the activism of dedicated neighbors in 1983. Today, Glen Foerd focuses on welcoming a diverse community through a wide array of programs for all ages. The Glen Foerd mansion is open for public visitation, free of charge, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visiting the mansion includes access to areas on all four floors of the house, where pieces from Glen Foerd's historic collection are on display alongside installations by Artists in Residence. The grounds of Glen Foerd are open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Access to Glen Foerd is only restricted during private events and after dark. Glen Foerd promotes art and artists through a Teen Arts program and the Artists in Residence program, soon to feature three artists and performance and word art. Promoting environmental-based educational programming. Glen Foerd is a founding member of the Riverways Collaboration, a consortium of non-profit organizations working together to create connections among local waterways and communities along the Delaware River. Dave Spinks, perhaps best known for his appearances on the Travel Channel, the History Channel, and Destination America, says you can't beat the Mountain State when it comes to UFO lore. “Two of the earliest and most famous encounters in the U.S. were reported here,” Spinks says, referring to legendary encounters involving Mothman and the Flatwoods Monster. “But it was here, too, at Green Bank Observatory that Frank Drake established the first telescopes used in the SETI program—the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.” Read more: https://wvexplorer.com/2024/05/18/west-virginia-ufo-seti-green-bank-flatwoods-mothman/ #2 – From WVDNR – When it comes to wearing a life jacket while boating, there are many myths and misconceptions that people have come to believe. For example, you'd be surprised how many people think they don't need to wear a life jacket if they know how to swim or if they're on a large boat with other people. They couldn't be more wrong. The sad reality is that nearly 80 percent of people who die in boating accidents are not wearing life jackets. As we gear up for another summer of water adventures in West Virginia, it's crucial to set the record straight about life jackets, also known as personal flotation devices (PFDs). Click the link to read about five common myths about life jackets and why these misconceptions are wrong. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resource encourages you to take PFDs seriously. Because your life depends on it! Healthy soil is full of living organisms that help to generate the nutrients crops need to grow. But many conventional farming practices inadvertently degrade soil health over time, which in turn can reduce crop yields. Regenerative Agriculture aims to capture carbon in soil and aboveground biomass, reversing current global trends of atmospheric accumulation. At the same time, it offers increased yields, resilience to climate instability, and higher health and vitality for farming and ranching communities. To explore regenerative agriculture and to find out the impact it could have on our environment, we once again, in partnership with Anglo American, join experts in the field to share their insight and experience. We speak to Ross Mitchell, Head of Agronomy and Technical Services, Anglo American Crop Nutrients and Paul Davey, seventh generation farmer and conservation agriculture contractor. Find out how we can regenerate our agriculture to improve sustainability in the future.
