If ever there was a four-day period that summed up West Ham perfectly, it was the one we've just had. We comfortably thrashed quadruple winners-elect, Arsenal, on Wednesday night with a thoroughly enjoyable 3-1 victory at London Stadium, knocking them out of the Carabao Cup and preventing Declan "I want to win it all" Rice from 'winning it all.' We then followed that up with a 3-2 defeat at Brentford where, despite going into the break 2-1 up, suffered from having a striker on the pitch who just struggles to score goals. Michail Antonio's decision to stick a toe out instead of allowing Said Benrahma to tap in from two yards essentially cost us at least a point at Brentford, which is hugely frustrating given the win over Arsenal had appeared to have gotten us back on track after a poor run of results. But that's just West Ham for you, isn't it!? Also this week, we welcome back Ari from the Gate 7 International podcast ahead of Thursday night's big Europa League clash with Olympiacos in Stratford. We then wrap up with the Betway Charity Bets, where we've FINALLY won a bet for charity before some final thoughts from the lads for another week. LOADS to get through this week. This is all a bit fun, isn't it? It's our best start to a Premier League season for over 20 years and when you consider three of our opening four games of the season have been away from home, it's even more impressive that we're unbeaten and sitting nicely in the top four of the Premier League going into the first international break. Whatsmore, we've finally learned our opponents for this season's Europa League and it's certainly an exciting one. In Group A, we face Olympiacos, SC Freiburg and Serbian outfit Backa Topola. It's arguably the toughest group we've been dealt over the last three seasons but we definitely have enough about us to progress to the knockout stages. The worst-case scenario is we come third, drop into the Conference League and just go and win that again! Also on this week's show, we... Discuss Friday night's win at Luton Mull over the Europa League draw Debate the merits of Said Benrahma's inclusion in the starting XI for the rest of the season Rate our summer transfer window (and moan about the lack of striker investment) Rave about our start to the season LOADS MORE! It's now the international break but we'll be back again next week ahead of the visit of our title rivals Manchester City. Last week West Ham announced the sad passing of co-owner and co-chairman David Gold. Regardless of fans' feelings towards Gold and other members of the board over the years, we must always remember that Gold is a human being who has lost his life. A father. A grandfather. A brother. He was also one of us. A West Ham fan. He famously grew up opposite the Boleyn Ground and played for the club at schoolboy level. So regardless of his role to play in all the issues at the club over the years, you simply cannot deny his love for our football club. But what legacy does he leave as co-owner of West Ham United? Also on this week's show, James and Will mull over the point at Leeds, the surprising FA Cup third round victory at Brentford, David Moyes' future and the ambivalence towards Said Benrahma amongst the fanbase. And finally, we're joined by friend of the show, Dan Bayliss, from the Wolves 77 Club Podcast to preview this weekend's trip to Molineux. West Ham's performance in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield was encouraging, or at least that's what James thinks. Will, on the other hand, disagrees and was "angry" with the fact we didn't capitalise on Liverpool's poor form by converting at least one of the eight shots on goal we had. And then there's the win over Bournemouth, which ended up being more straight forward than we were expecting, albeit via a very dubious VAR decision going our way (for once!). Will thought Said Benrahma was once again frustrating in that victory, while James believes it was one of his better performances in claret and blue! What do you think? It's an episode that sees James and Will disagree on most things, which is reminiscent of the old Love Sport Radio days! Finally we're off the mark! Our first win and first goal of the Premier League season came at Villa Park on Sunday but, had Steven Gerrard's team been a bit better than they are, it could've been a completely different story. David Moyes opted to start with five at the back but following a turgid opening 45 minutes, he decided to revert to the tried and tested 4-2-3-1 formation and suddenly things began to happen. Said Benrahma came on at half-time and instantly gave us some energy and intent going forward, and eventually Pablo Forbals expertly directed the winner over Emi Martinez's head, via a Villa defender's knee. Absolute genius finish! Now we're off the mark it feels like our season starts now, but we have Spurs and Chelsea next to threaten us building up any kind of momentum. This week, James and Will react to the win at Villa as well as discuss our Europa Conference League draw, which includes us coming up against Anderlecht, Silkeborg and FCSB in Group B this season. Also on the show, Will chats to Spurs fan and talkSPORT presenter Paul Coyte ahead of Wednesday night's huge game in Stratford, as well as broadcaster Tom Sheen about Chelsea ahead of Saturday afternoon's trip to Stamford Bridge. Greetings Footballlanders! After another fruitful meeting at Footballland HQ we are pleased to announce THREE new rides. OK, so one of them is just Chris Kamara solving park problems, so let's call it TWO new rides and ONE important piece of park infrastructure! This week the world's 2nd greatest footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, returns to the park (after being fired off into space) with The Ronaldon't, a ride which challenges guests to be as far removed from Cristiano as humanly possible. Which led us to ask ourselves, who is the football opposite of CR7? Royston Drenthe? Steve Claridge? Gazza? Plus, Frank Lampard's interview technique of laughing then turning immediately serious has been rollercoasterised with the Frank Lampard Lol-lercoaster. There's admittedly not much to this ride - it's over very quickly, but the science of getting people to laugh and then be terrified in less than a second is pored over in great detail. Which leads us to our third reveal of the week. It gives us great pleasure to welcome Chris Kamara as park manager, helped by his two assistants Adam Lallana and Said Benrahma on llamas up a giant set of stairs on wheels. Chris will look out for problems at footballland, which always seem to happen when he's not looking in the right place. Thankfully the Dalai Lama will be on hand to help with the things he's missed. Please keep sending us your ride ideas! We feature them all! Lots of love, Anthony, Mark and Ryan xSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/footballland. The Genk game is analysed too – particularly Said Benrahma's superb performance and the poor man who lost a finger when celebrating a West Ham goal. And the superb atmosphere created by the travelling masses. The lads look back at the Betway charity bets from the Liverpool game. And they take a moment to have a more general peek at the latest West Ham news including the Hammers' players overlooked for the latest England squad, Angelo Ogbonna's knee injury and where Declan Rice could improve his already superb performances.  The boys also take a minute to read out a few recent comments and reviews they have received from you loyal lovely listeners before they look back at West Ham Women's 4-0 defeat to Arsenal and ahead to their game against Reading. In one of the most dramatic and heartbreaking ends to a football match in living memory, David Moyes' decision to sub on Mark Noble to take a last minute penalty against Man Utd backfired in dramatic fashion on Sunday. The Hammers legend hadn't warmed up and was thrust into the action at London Stadium to try and make it 2-2 after ex-West Ham man Jesse Lingard had oh-so predictably broke Hammers hearts - coming off the bench to complete the Red Devils' comeback after Said Benrahma and Cristiano Ronaldo had scored in the first-half. Will Pugh, James Jones and Reece Bayliss discuss the rollercoaster ride and also cover the Irons' historic win at Dinamo Zagreb in their first ever Europa League group game on Thursday. The Champions League dream isn't dead just yet, but it's a lot further away than it was a week ago. Sunday's defeat to Everton and Leicester's win at Old Trafford means a miracle might need to happen for West Ham to secure a top-four spot, but a top-six finish is still well and truly in our sights, which is obviously something we would never have dreamed of at the beginning of the season. It wasn't the worst performance against the Toffees and the Hammers probably didn't deserve to lose in the end, but we now have three huge and winnable games left to finish the season with momentum. On this week's show, the lads take a look back at the Everton performance and are also joined by ex-Hammer Martin Allen, who has plenty to say on the season, Manuel Lanzini, Said Benrahma and what needs to be done in the summer. Also on the show this week, Liam from Albion Analytics joins us to preview Saturday's trip to the AMEX, the lads make their Betway Charity bet selections, Tom is Name That Game Quizmaster and friend of the show and WSL expert, Isabelle Barker, joins us to chat all things West Ham Women. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE.The lads can be found @WilliamPugh_, @T0m_Edwards and @ByJamesJones.You can support the podcast or buy the lads a beer HERE at buymeacoffee/com/wearewestham.And you can WATCH the show and subscribe to our YouTube channel HERE.Do SUBSCRIBE, RATE, SHARE and REVIEW the pod and tell your friends about us.#COYI #WHUFC

West Ham beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor on Monday to keep their Champions League dream alive. The Hammers went behind to a Chris Wood (shock) penalty but Michail Antonio returned to the team with a bang as he scored twice to complete West Ham's comeback before half-time.David Moyes' side absolutely dominated the Clarets and should really have scored more but on this occasion, who cares! With the Irons fifth with just four games to go and a real chance of closing the three-point gap on fourth place Chelsea, Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards to dare to dream once again. The lads look back at Monday's win, heap praise on Manuel Lanzini and ask: 'Should fans be loving or hating Issa Diop and Said Benrahma?' Tony Scott - host of All Together Now Everton podcast - dials in to look ahead to what could be the first of four historic games for West Ham as the eighth placed Toffees visit the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The boys make their Betway charity bet selections for the game and James Jones takes the hotseat for one of the most shambolic games of Name That Game ever. And finally West Ham Women season ticket holder Michelle returns to celebrate the girls all but securing their WSL survival with a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE.The lads can be found @WilliamPugh_, @T0m_Edwards and @ByJamesJones.You can support the podcast or buy the lads a beer HERE at buymeacoffee/com/wearewestham.And you can WATCH the show and subscribe to our YouTube channel HERE. Said Benrahma's long awaited debut finally arrived and West Ham took full advantage of the Algerian's dazzling performance. His fellow midfielders Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek also starred as more set piece calamity saw Bielsa's Leeds once again dropping points. We discuss how Moyes' formation change was the perfect assist for the talented Hammers duo, why the crackdown on goalkeepers during PKs doesn't always make sense, and how Leeds-despite their great style-will need to start addressing some of their flaws to start roping in the points. Later, we discuss how Manchester United could learn a lot about how to manage players like Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria by following the lead of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Mercedes-Benz Formula One Team. Brentford bounced back from the Forest defeat in impressive style... smashing Hull for five with Said Benrahma notching an emotional hat-trick which he dedicated to his father, who sadly recently passed away. David Raya's blunder aside, Hull rarely threatened, however, it is Said who is grabbing the headlines today... as he did the match ball at the end of the game.
