The latest episode of the Squawka Talker podcast looks at how to rebuild Newcastle United in 2022. Host Feargal Brennan is joined by Squawka's Chief Football Writer Muhammad Butt and Newcastle United fan and BBC Sport journalist Harry De Cosemo to asses the current picture at St. James' Park following their Saudi Arabia-backed buyout. The team analyse what the Magpies transfer policy will be in the coming months with growing pressure on the club to spend big in January to force their way out of the Premier League relegation battle. Will they look to bring in Premier League stalwarts like James Tarkowski and John McGinn or will they roll the dice on 'European mercenaries' such as Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona and Gareth Bale at Real Madrid? Or will the new regime on Tyneside invest in young British talent on the continent with Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Jude Bellingham all stamping their mark on the game?

AS Roma named José Mourinho as the club's new manager ahead of the 2021/22 season - to mixed reviews. The Giallorossi have begun the season in excellent form, however, with six wins from their first six in all competitions, spearheaded by soon-to-be 24-year-old English striker Tammy Abraham. Nicolò Zaniolo was sent off in his first game under Mourinho, but is staging a comeback after two successive cruciate knee ligament injuries. Meanwhile, the highly controversial manager has already blooded a handful of young players from Roma's successful Primavera (U-19) side this year. Trophies are on the menu at the Olimpico, but it'll be box office, if nothing else.

After 18 months of watching matches on TV, what was it like watching football in a full stadium? Having visited the Emirates and the Valley respectively, we compare and contrast our experiences as both Arsenal and Charlton lost 2-0 at home.We don't want to labour the point in the episode notes, but the clock seems to be ticking on Mikel Arteta time in charge of the Gunners. Can he put together a good run before Christmas? Nobody seems to think so right now.Elsewhere, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Brighton and West Ham have set the pace with a brace of wins each. Something has to give when the Reds face the Blues at Anfield on Saturday. The prospect of Virgil 'immoveable mountain' Van Dijk versus Romelu 'unstoppable force' Lukaku has us licking our lips.Talking of big units, we also can't resist talking about Michail Antonio's eye-catching form. Is there a player in world football who is as fun to watch right now?We close part one with a run through Barnet's bad week for the ages, check-in on Tammy Abraham's debut in Italy and attempt to figure out what happened in Nice as irate locals attacked Marseille players on the pitch. After the break, we try to make sense of cricket legend Ian Botham's appointment as a UK trade envoy to Australia, praise the snack-related marketing that stole The Hundred's thunder, head to Ireland for a bit of hurling and revisit last week's huge grudge match at the snooker.Enjoy the show! Will Pugh and James Jones stop by for another quick chat in the middle of the summer break.    The lads cover England's Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy at Wembley that Jonesy was lucky enough to attend.   West Ham's wonderful new kit gets a mention as do Michail Antonio, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals' shirt number switches.   The lads run through some of the recent transfer rumours – namely Jesse Lingard's return from Man Utd, Tammy Abraham's potential arrival from Chelsea and the prospective departures of Jarrod Bowen and Issa Diop.   Will also gives a run down of his exclusive story regarding Felipe Anderson's departure to Lazio and the subsequent funds that have been freed up as a result and how the club will have those available to them in negotiations with Declan Rice.   Takeover rumours have surfaced again which the boys evaluate before wrapping up with a summary of the Irons' pre-season friendlies so far.  Podcasts will be every fortnight from here until the beginning of the season when normal weekly service will resume.    Hope everyone's doing ok.    You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE. On this week's episode of Extra Time, Henry Hill and Dougie Critchley sit down to discuss some of the biggest transfer rumours ahead of the summer window. They look at Manchester United's centre back dilemma, and whether Pau Torres or Raphael Varane is a more sensible transfer, before looking at Leicester City's striker issue. Tammy Abraham is unhappy at Chelsea, but Odsonne Edouard could prove a cheap alternative. They can't work out what Chelsea need to do, before of course having a chat about Harry Kane and Manchester City. This episode may have been recorded six hours before the Kane transfer news broke on Monday evening, but it goes to show that here at Football Daily we really do have our finger on the pulse of everything football - and get a thumbnail of course. Enjoy!
