We get Grimbo back this week so we're at full force as we continue along our merry ways of getting most predictions wrong. It's more of the same for the most part but Opi & Bear introduce and explain the leagues "Grudge Week" and they discuss the matchups and even give the games bowl names. We come up with some stupid but fun names for bowl games so the NCAA may want to have a listen in case they're tired of stupid shit like the Tostitos Bowl or the Duke's Mayo Bowl……just awful! Anyway, hope you enjoy and if you want to get more involved and see the information that the guys talk about, it'll be on the screen for those watching on YouTube. Anna, Dan, and Evan give their standar IFL talks. Anna gives her DJ update. Evan complains about drivers. And Dan stresses about all the music he has to listen to. They also talk about the Grammy Awards and thus Taylor Swift for too long. They give a quick TV update, and then they wrap it up with a Game of Name That Game (it's just name that tune with video game sounds). Thanks for tuning in to this week's episode! Big D's Big Giveaway: Name that Game by
West Ham failed to beat Brighton on Saturday. Again. It's a pathetic record and the latest installment in the tragic Seagull saga had far bigger ramifications for West Ham's season as it all but killed their Champions League hopes. It turns out that dream officially died just as Will Pugh, Tom Edwards and James Jones wrapped up this podcast as Chelsea beat Leicester at home.Unfortunately after the 1-1 draw at the Amex, the Hammers also made it bloody hard for themselves to qualify for the Europa League as they slipped to seventh behind Tottenham.Spurs still meet Leicester who will be scrapping for their own Champions League spot so it's still all to play for but West Ham HAVE to win their last two to stand a chance at Europa.West Brom and Southampton are left with neither having anything to play for. Jack Rosser from the Evening Standard joins the lads to discuss his beloved Saints' visit to London Stadium on Sunday. The boys make their final Betway charity bets of the season. And Will Pugh is quizmaster for Name That Game. The Sun's Sandra Brobbey dials in one more time to discuss West Ham Women's season officially finishing with a 5-1 FA Cup thrashing at Man City. And the boys wrap up with some final thoughts before a rallying call to drive the Irons to the end of the season. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE.The lads can be found @WilliamPugh_, @T0m_Edwards and @ByJamesJones.You can support the podcast or buy the lads a beer HERE at buymeacoffee/com/wearewestham.And you can WATCH the show and subscribe to our YouTube channel HERE.Do SUBSCRIBE, RATE, SHARE and REVIEW the pod and tell your friends about us.#COYI #WHUFC
West Ham beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor on Monday to keep their Champions League dream alive. The Hammers went behind to a Chris Wood (shock) penalty but Michail Antonio returned to the team with a bang as he scored twice to complete West Ham's comeback before half-time.David Moyes' side absolutely dominated the Clarets and should really have scored more but on this occasion, who cares! With the Irons fifth with just four games to go and a real chance of closing the three-point gap on fourth place Chelsea, Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards to dare to dream once again. The lads look back at Monday's win, heap praise on Manuel Lanzini and ask: 'Should fans be loving or hating Issa Diop and Said Benrahma?' Tony Scott - host of All Together Now Everton podcast - dials in to look ahead to what could be the first of four historic games for West Ham as the eighth placed Toffees visit the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The boys make their Betway charity bet selections for the game and James Jones takes the hotseat for one of the most shambolic games of Name That Game ever. And finally West Ham Women season ticket holder Michelle returns to celebrate the girls all but securing their WSL survival with a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE.The lads can be found @WilliamPugh_, @T0m_Edwards and @ByJamesJones.You can support the podcast or buy the lads a beer HERE at buymeacoffee/com/wearewestham.And you can WATCH the show and subscribe to our YouTube channel HERE. West Ham were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Chelsea on Saturday as their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League took a severe knock. The Hammers lack of January transfer activity appears to be catching up with them. But most of that was forgotten after the game because ten minutes from time referee Chris Kavanagh made the most inexplicable decision ever when he decided to send Fabian Balbuena off for kicking the football during a game of... wait for it... football. It was a disgrace and a scandal and another knife in the heart of our great game and decisions like it, along with the appalling application of VAR, are ruining our sport. Former Premier League ref Mark Halsey makes his We Are West Ham debut to give his take on the decision and he does not pull any punches. Will Pugh, Jame Jones and Tom Edwards are reunited after three weeks where at least one of the lads was absent. The guys review the Chelsea game in finite detail. The Name That Game quiz returns. And the boys make their Betway charity bets for the Burnley game before Simon Townley from the Turfcast podcast dials in for the opposition view. West Ham Women season ticket holder Michelle joins to wrap up the show and toast another point for the girls in their push toward WSL survival. Thanks so much for listening. West Ham raced into a 3-0 first-half lead again on Monday night against Wolves at Molinuex. And they almost threw it away for the second week running too. But driven on by captain fantastic Mark Noble and the Mancunian Maradona Jesse Lingard, the Hammers dug deep and only conceded two to walk away with all three points and go fourth in the Premier League with just eight games to go. Will Pugh is back in the hotseat after having surgery last week and is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards as usual. West Ham correspondent Tom Clark from Football London dials in to look back on the Wolves win having covered the game from the stadium. The boys make their selections for the Betway charity bets. And former show host Jake Watson also joins the lads for the opposition view as West Ham host Leicester on Sunday in a Champions League qualification showdown. Tom plays host for the worst episode of Name That Game in history before the lads rejoice in West Ham Women’s 5-0 thrashing of Reading to lift themselves off the bottom of the WSL. They wrap up with a Fantasy round up before saying goodbye for another week. Thanks so much for listening. You can follow We Are West Ham on Twitter HERE.And the lads can be found @WilliamPugh_, @ByJamesJones and @T0m_Edwards.You can support the podcast or buy the lads a beer HERE.Do SUBSCRIBE to the podcast and RATE, SHARE and REVIEW.COYI. #WHUFC
West Ham threw away a 3-0, yes THREE NIL, lead against Arsenal on Sunday and ended the game clinging on to a 3-3 draw. Jesse Lingard was one of few bright sparks as the Hammers fell to bits having raced into a convincing lead within 35 minutes. But the outstanding Alexandre Lacazette, Calum Chambers and Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard led the Gunners in their dramatic comeback at the London Stadium. An irate Will Pugh is joined by a pragmatic James Jones and a freshly shaven Tom Edwards to discuss the draw that felt like a defeat. Will makes a We Are West Ham announcement to mark one year since the boys stopped doing the show as a live radio broadcast and started the podcast from home as a result of lockdown. Top football journalist and West Ham fan Jacob Steinberg from the Guardian dials in to chat to the lads just a week after Tom went after him on Twitter for his post-Man Utd opinions. Jacob defends his views on Said Benrahma and debates whether he is overrated, sticks up for David Moyes in the face of criticism from some fans and predicts whether or not the mighty Irons will finish in Europe this season. The guys look back on their agonisingly close Betway charity bet selections and preview which West Ham players are doing what and going where during the international break. James Jones is in the quizmaster’s seat for the Name That Game quiz with a belter from the early 2010s. And sports journalist and WSL expert Sandra Brobbey from The Sun joins the lads to discuss the excellent news about the WSL’s new broadcast deal. And West Ham Women’s heartbreaking draw with Birmingham that saw the Blues grab a 94th minute equaliser as well as Saturday's game against Man Utd at Old Trafford. Thanks so much to all of you for listening, it means the world to us. As announced in the show, you can now BUY THE BOYS A PINT and support the pod at buymeacoffee.com/wearewestham HERE. West Ham lost 1-0 at Manchester United on Sunday night and it’s fair to say the reaction to David Moyes’ set up after the game was varied. A particular tweet from The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg suggesting criticism of Moyes was ‘pathetic’ and that perhaps Said Benrahma is not as good as some fans like to think he is was met with fury. Tom Edwards was particularly angry while Will Pugh happened to agree with some of his points. And this leads to a fiery start to the show with the pair going head to head early on. West Ham’s accounts for the financial year up to May 2020 were also released last week and conveniently wedged between announcements about Mark Noble’s impending departure and Lukasz Fabianski signing a new contract. Football finance expert David Bick joins Will, Tom and James Jones to discuss the headline figures, the impact of Covid, profits and losses, Karren Brady’s potential salary and of course interest charged on loans by David Gold and David Sullivan. The lads make their Betway charity bet selections before Pat Holland - European Cup Winners Cup and FA Cup winner with West Ham and former Arsenal scout – dials in to look ahead to the Gunners’ visit to London Stadium on Sunday. Will Pugh is the quizmaster for Name That Game. Daily Mail journalist Kathryn Batte joins to discuss the West Ham Women and their WSL relegation battle. And the boys sign off with some final thoughts and a Fantasy Premier League update. Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE if you like what we do. West Ham legend Mark Noble sent an open letter to Hammers fans on Tuesday confirming he has signed a one-year contract extension at London Stadium but that next season will be his last in claret and blue. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards to discuss Noble's contributions to the club during his 17 year spell with his boyhood club, what the future holds and whether he should have a statue erected in his honour. The Irons beat Leeds 2-0 on Monday night in altogether unconvincing fashion but nonetheless, the three points still keep the East Londoners in the hunt for an unlikely Champions League spot. The lads are also joined by Dylan Tombides' mum and DT38 Foundation founder Tracy for the Betway charity bet section to mark what would have been Dylan's 27th birthday on Monday. Will, Tom and James make their selections for the Manchester United game at Old Trafford on Sunday before sports journalist and Red Devils fan Matt Beadle dials in for the opposition view.Tom Edwards is quizmaster for Name That Game before The Sun's Isabelle Barker breaks down West Ham Women's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea and gives her opinion on whether they'll be relegated from the WSL having dropped to bottom of the league. Please SUBSCRIBE, RATE and REVIEW if you like what we do.You can follow the podcast on Twitter HERE.And the lads can be found @WilliamPugh_, @ByJamesJones and @T0m_Edwards.You can also WATCH us on YouTube HERE.Thanks for listening. West Ham fans were rocked by the news of former manager Glenn Roeder's death on from a brain tumour on Sunday aged 65. Glenn managed the Hammers between 2001 and 2003 after initially being appointed as a coach by Harry Redknapp. The Irons finished seventh in his first season in charge but were unfortunately relegated during his second campaign during which he collapsed after a game against Middlesbrough - the first showing of the tumour. Glenn has been fondly remembered by people across the game and Will Pugh, Tom Edwards and James Jones are joined by John Moncur and Tony Carr who played under and worked alongside the Woodford born boss. The pair pay touching tributes to the mild-mannered Roeder. As well as remembering Roeder, the boys look back to the defeat at Man City game and Will and James go head to head over Vladimir Coufal's reaction to the loss. The lads make their Betway (https://twitter.com/betway) charity bet selections. Leeds fan Kieran Benn from The Sun dials in to give a detailed analysis of his team's visit to London Stadium on Monday night and once again the boys are split down the middle over whether Marcelo Bielsa is as good as people say he is. James is quizmaster for Name That Game. And before saying goodbye the boys look ahead to Chelsea's visit to the West Ham Women on Sunday. Thanks to everyone who listens and downloads every week. West Ham beat bitter rivals Tottenham 2-1 at London Stadium on Sunday to move FOURTH in the Premier League. FOURTH! Whether the Hammers can cling on to that last Champions League place remains to be seen but these moments have been at least five years in the waiting since the move from Upton Park and every West Ham fan deserves to enjoy them. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards to revel in the glow of a victory over Spurs and also to chat just how far this team can go under David Moyes. The boys heap praise on Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal, Jesse Lingard, Lukasz Fabianski and David Moyes after a win that meant so much to the team and the fans. West Ham’s legendary former striker Tony Cottee dials in for an exclusive interview to celebrate, reminisce and look ahead to the Irons’ visit to Man City. And he also calls on the club to extend Mark Noble’s contract for another year to ensure he gets a proper send off from fans. The lads make their picks for this week’s Betway (https://twitter.com/betway?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) charity bets after Tom came agonisingly close against Spurs. And Man City fan Ste Tudor joins the lads to look ahead to Saturday’s clash with the Hammers at the Etihad. Will is in the hot-seat for popular quiz Name That Game. West Ham beat Sheffield United 3-0 at London Stadium without getting out of third gear on Monday night. Declan Rice coolly dispatched a penalty after Jesse Lingard was wiped out and then tried to take the spot kick ahead of Dec. The Hammers briefly went fourth before Chelsea's win a few hours later but once again things are hunky dory in East London. West Ham crashed out of this year's FA Cup in frustrating fashion with a 1-0 extra-time defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. The lack of strikers and the club's dereliction of duty by failing to sign one in January came back to bite the Hammers almost straight away as Andriy Yarmolenko failed to cut it in Michail Antonio's absence and youngster Ademipo Odubeko was given a chance off the bench only to be hooked again soon after. An irate Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards straight after the final whistle to wallow in each other's misery and rue the club's lack of ambition in the transfer market. Said Benrahma gets a hammering while the boys take time to praise the positive performances by Fabianski, Craig Dawson and Ben Johnson. The lads also look back to the Mike Dean/ Tomas Soucek farcical situation at the end of the dross 0-0 draw at Fulham. The remarkable win at Aston Villa also comes up as there were three games between podcasts over the last week before focus switches to next Monday's Carlos Tevez derby showdown with Sheffield United at London Stadium. James brings a blast from the past to the table for Name That Game. And he also had a winning Betway (https://twitter.com/betway) charity bet for the Villa game. The lads make their selections for the Blades' visit before the Travelling Blade dials in for the opposition view. The Sun's Sandra Brobbey joins to dissect a grim week for West Ham Women after their thrashing at Chelsea in the League Cup and the underwhelming 1-1 draw at Matt Beard's Bristol City in the WSL. West Ham failed to sign a striker as the January transfer window slammed shut AND lost 3-1 at home to Liverpool in the space of a week. But the Hammers are still fifth in the Premier League – such is the rollercoaster nature of this football season. As James Jones wrote it in his SunSport article on Tuesday: 'Given how West Ham’s season is going so far, it feels weird to be moaning'. But moan the lads certainly do this week as David Moyes’ squad was left threadbare up front with just Michail Antonio and his fragile hamstrings left to score the goals needed to push the Hammers into Europe. Will Pugh is joined by James and Tom Edwards to chat the complete lack of new strikers, the somewhat underwhelming signing of Jesse Lingard on loan from Man Utd and the Liverpool defeat. Chair of the West Ham United Independent Supporters Association Sue Watson joins the lads for an exclusive interview to discuss the group’s role on the newly formed Independent Supporters Committee, her stance on #GSBOut and WHUISA's feud with Karren Brady. Two of the lads’ all time favourite opposition view guests join to look ahead to West Ham's two games before next week’s episode. TV presenter and Aston Villa fan Tim Warwood dials in complete with a voice note from Uncle Ron to chat Wednesday night’s game at Villa Park. And sports journalist, Fulham fan and friend of the show Isabelle Barker speaks to Will about her team’s chances at Craven Cottage on Saturday as well as giving the run down on the West Ham Women. The boys make their Betway (https://twitter.com/betway) charity bet selections. Will is quizmaster for Name That Game as James looks to scrape himself off the bottom of the table. And there’s a brief Fantasy Premier League update at the end. Please SUBSCRIBE, SHARE and TELL YOUR FRIENDS if you like what we do. West Ham are FOURTH in the Premier League. That’s right, if the season finished now, David Moyes’ men would qualify for the Champions League. After going down to Wilfried Zaha’s early goal at Crystal Palace, the Hammers bounced back in emphatic fashion thanks to a brace from Tomas Soucek and a powerful header from Craig Dawson. Michy Batshuayi got a late consolation but the ref blew the whistle to send the boys back to East London with a 3-2 win. Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards to revel in the Hammers’ fifth win on the bounce including Saturday’s 4-0 FA Cup thrashing of Doncaster. A trip to Old Trafford to face Man Utd in the fifth round awaits as the boys muse over the club’s chances of success this season. Football journalist Mark Flanagan joins the lads to look ahead to Liverpool’s visit to London Stadium on Sunday. The boys make their weekly Betway (https://twitter.com/betway) charity bet selections for the Reds game and update listeners on Isla Caton’s progress who started a round of chemotherapy this week. Will chatted to Nikki and Isla on Monday as the brave six-year-old started her latest round of chemotherapy and that interview can be heard at the end of the podcast. Tom is quizmaster for Name That Game. And the guys wrap up the show with a West Ham Women update after the girls reached the Conti Cup semi-final with a 3-0 win over Durham. West Ham battled through to the FA Cup fourth round by beating Stockport County 1-0 on a boggy Edgeley Park pitch that would have made some Sunday league teams turn their noses up. Craig Dawson leaped like a salmon to nod home the 83rd minute winner after David Moyes’ men had huffed and puffed all night against the deep and well organised National League side. Hammers fans finally said Au Revoir to Sebastien Haller who left for Ajax in a £20-25million deal. There were very few people sad to see the disappointing Frenchman leave but there was barely a dry eye among West Ham fans when the club announced Robert Snodgrass had left for West Brom. Will Pugh (https://twitter.com/WilliamPugh_) is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards to discuss all of that and more as the Irons approach the midway point of what is undoubtedly a make or break month. The boys are also joined by Mark Gevaux – more commonly known as the Ribman – who pulls no punches as he gives his unfiltered views on the club’s board and their transfer activity. David Sullivan and David Gold appointed new directors at West Ham this week – Sullivan’s son Jack and current partner were two of them. Tom gives the run down on the long list of strikers the Hammers are being linked with and the lads have a general chat about West Ham transfer news. Name That Game is back in dramatic fashion with one of the guys having an absolute mare. West Ham’s women had ANOTHER game postponed because of Covid-19 as their trip to Man City was axed. But the lads discuss other comings and goings before giving details on the New Year shirt giveaway. James reads out some outstanding reviews including a list of belting comparisons between the lads and some current players. Please SUBSCRIBE to the pod and like, rate and share our stuff. Happy New Year to all of our listeners across the globe - this is our first episode of 2021 as we look to put 2020 well behind us and vow never to speak of it ever again. After ending the previous year with a bit of a whimper, David Moyes' men entered the new year in style by rocking up at Goodison Park and winning 1-0, courtesy of a late Tomas Soucek own goal. And if you didn't love the big man enough by now, he then confessed his love for potato salad during his post-match interview. What a guy. On this week's show, James Jones, Will Pugh and Tom Edwards mull over that Everton win, briefly touch on the draws with Brighton and Southampton, discuss the rumoured return of Marko Arnautovic, thrash out their views on the upcoming FA Cup 3rd Round tie with Stockport County and, of course, compete in the brilliant Name That Game quiz. Can you count how many times James uses old and tired cliches to describe the FA Cup? This week's opposition view is Russ from the Scarf Bergara Wore podcast, who chats with Will ahead of West Ham's FA Cup journey gets underway at Edgeley Park on Monday night. Also this week, WSL expert and sports journalist Isabelle Barker joins the lads to discuss West Ham Women's appointment of Olli Harder as the new manager, as well as their chances of beating giants Man City in the WSL this coming weekend. And finally, the lads chat about their Fantasy Premier League progress as Will bathes in accidental success, James wallows in accidental failure and Tom climbs off the bottom of the table for the first time in weeks. As always, it's a cracker of a show and a superb one to kick 2021 off in style.
