Arsenal edged past Chelsea with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in a not so exciting London derby! This win not only solidifies our grip on second place but extends our unbeaten run against the Blues to seven games. It was Mikel Merino who stole the headlines, flicking in Martin Ødegaard's pinpoint corner with a deft header to give Arsenal the lead. The goal marked an end to our long drought from corners and showcased the precision of our set-piece routines. Chelsea tried to respond, but Arsenal's defense, led by Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhães, stood firm, keeping their attackers at bay. The second half saw fewer chances but plenty of intensity, with yellow cards flying around in a physical contest. Merino came close to doubling his tally with a well-struck volley, but Robert Sanchez denied him brilliantly. Chelsea had moments of pressure, but Arsenal's composure and tactical discipline ensured the lead was never truly threatened. This victory is another step forward in our Premier League campaign, as we continue to build momentum heading into the season's final stretch. Tune in for more insights and hear my thoughts on Merino, Timber, and Ødegaard—three players who were pivotal in securing this win. We break for international lull before we head into the long stretch. Hoping for some more good news…until then —Up The Arsenal!
There's a Super Sunday on the horizon, with tasty matches back-to-back all day long. Arsenal-Chelsea, title clashes in Italy and Spain. As always, you can get the lowdown on all the matches worth your time this coming weekend at TheFootballWeekend.com.But there's one headliner here, because there's a trophy up for grabs: It's LIVERPOOL vs NEWCASTLE at Wembley Stadium, vying for the League Cup.It could be a nice tonic for the Reds after their untimely exit from the Champions League in midweek, while a trophy — any trophy — would be extremely timely for the Magpies. Newcastle United have not won a piece of major silverware since 1969. Their victory in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup came a month before the moon landing. Here to preview this one is Laurence McKenna, Liverpool fan and sharp football observer across all kinds of platforms, not least his channel on YouTube. 90 MInutter benytter landslagspausen på å kjøre en liten status på Topp 4 ligaene. Man City i trøbbel etter 4 strake tap. Mikel Arteta virker litt i villrede i Arsenal. Serie A er rekordjevn.

It's December 16th and we are in the middle of an intense period. Welcome to the latest edition of our show. I'm Paul and I am joined by Daz and Justin. We'll talk about Palace, USG, and we will look ahead to Man United at home and maybe touch on West Ham and the EFL cup. Part One - let's start with Palace and Union St Gilloise: Reds escaped with a 2-1 from South London and are now top of the league - xG 1.77 vs. 1.11 - that includes the 0.75 for the penalty). Reflections? 76 minutes of not very good then we showed an ability to stretch the play with the subs. Use of subs - Harvey Elliott, Curtis and Gakpo, Gomez and Konate Salah 200 goals The press continues to be underwhelmed in contrast to Arsenal (‘who are playing wonderful football'). USG - didn't feel like we had a plan to score, and playing 2 at the back is very risky without Ali and VVD. Much easier to be the one young lad in an experienced team. 6 were 20 and under, Jones, Kelleher, Konate and Gakpo bringing the experience. Part Two - we play United tomorrow: This is too good to be true isn't it? Their fans appear to be afraid. I used to hate these games (with John O'Shea or some less than stellar player stealing it in the 90th minute) How much does the 7-0 from last season help them? Are they wounded? Who are they - literally what line up? Bournemouth and FC Bayern;) They are going to sit deep aren't they? 57000 crowd We score early, this is over isn't it? Formation, predictions Part Three - any other business: EFL cup City, Villa and Arsenal Chelsea and Man Utd We will be back after the United game. Thanks to Justin and Daz.
