Today we welcome another special guest to the show: Sharon Wilharm! Sharon is a Christian speaker, a bible storyteller, an award-winning filmmaker, and host of the All God's Women podcast. The unique and fascinating thing about Sharon is that she has enjoyed a lifelong fascination with the women in the Bible, and she loves applying Bible stories to our situations today.  How cool is that? So today we are being inspired by stories of women in the Bible. Women that were flawed, just like us, but faithful. And we probably have women reading this who are in a hard spot, experiencing loss or heartache like the women of the Bible. But the women of the Bible can inspire us in whatever situation we're in. If you are working hard to use your gifts for the glory of God, but don't feel like you have a whole lot to offer, this episode is for you.Our lives, no matter who we are, can reflect a great God. And He is not limited by our limitations. He can use anybody. He uses us all and we can rest in that.  We can trust that he can use our lives no matter who we are or what season of life we're in or what age we are.  Read the Show Notes: sojohub.com/faith088Connect with Sharon: sharonwilharm.comSupport the showConnect with us: www.instagram.com/sojosocietyBecome a member: www.sojoacademy.comSojo Academy is an ongoing membership for Christian women that provides a practical, streamlined, spiritual growth plan for every woman.Support the Podcast: www.sojohub.com/supportHelp us continue making great content for listeners everywhere.

Some examples of Biblical Mom stories that have inspired Sharon Wilharm are Mephibosheth's nurse (who only has one verse!), Rizpah, and of course Mary. While she doesn't necessarily feel that all of the mothers are "exactly like her," she has been amazed at what we can learn through their experiences. It has become clear that the people and stories of the Bible are intentionally put there by God, no matter how short or obscure they seem, and that we have a lot that we can learn from them, especially the women of the Bible.

Hi and welcome to All God's Women. I'm Sharon Wilharm, your host, and today is the last of the National Podcast Post Month bonus episodes. Yes, I know, it's only the 28th. However, my photographer daughter and I did some creative brainstorming this week while they were visiting for Thanksgiving, and I'm excited to announce that All God's Women is getting a facelift. So I'll be working on that getting ready to have the new look in time for the Women of Christmas series launching Wednesday, December 2.Now, the podcast itself will remain the same. But the graphics will have a completely new look. And I am so excited about that. You see, I had this original vision for the podcast logo and graphics, but I couldn't bring it to life. So I stumbled upon the yellow photo and ran with that. And I know a lot of you love the yellow. But I promise, you're going to love the new look even better. It so much better expresses who I am an the message I'm sharing. So be watching for that in a few days.In the meantime let's time a few moments to look at one verse in Isaiah that leads into the Women of Christmas series. The verse is found in Isaiah 7:14. Perhaps you're familiar with it. It's mentioned often in Christmas pageants.

You would think considering Isaiah was such a prominent figure in the Bible and the book of Isaiah is one of the longest books in the Bible with 66 chapters, that there would plenty of coverage of Mrs. Isaiah. In fact, though, she is mentioned only once. In Isaiah 8:3 we're told, “Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son.” That's it. That's the only time she's mentioned. Hi and welcome to All God's Women. I'm Sharon Wilharm, your host, and it's day 20 of National Podcast Post Month.I'm excited to announce that we are done with the wives of kings and mothers of kings. No more, his mother's name was… and he followed the Lord, or his mother's name was… and he did evil in the sight of the Lord. No, in today's bonus episode we move into the book of Nehemiah. Now, when I was in college, I had a preacher who spent probably a year or so preaching through the book of Nehemiah. As a result, I fell in love with that book. But it's been awhile, and I don't recall reading about Shallum's daughters. But I'm glad to have discovered them now. So often we get discouraged as women feeling limited in what we can do. But when the need is great and the workers are few, women who are willing to get a little dirt under their fingernails are always appreciated. This was men's work, but Shallum enlisted the help of his daughters and they willingly served alongside the men. What about you? Are there needs around you, but you ignore them because, well, they're hard work? Maybe it involves manual labor. Maybe it just means stepping out of your comfort zone. It couldn't have been easy for Shallum's daughters to build a section of wall. But they saw a need, and they filled the need. But we're going to focus in on the granddaughter of Absolom and the wife of King Rehoboam. We first meet her in 1 Kings 15, but I want to look first at 2 Chronicles 11:20-22. In verse 20 we're told that Rohaboam married her and she bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith. Then we learn that Rohaboam loved her more than any of his other wives and concubines, which is pretty impressive, considering he had 18 wives and 60 concubines. He fathered 28 sons and 60 daughters, but he appointed Maacha's son Abijah as crown prince to succeed him as king. All God's Women is a Bible study podcast where we journey through the Bible one woman at a time. Hi and welcome to All God's Women. I'm Sharon Wilharm, your host, and it's day 14 of National Podcast Post Month. So now, I warned you, today's story is not pretty. In fact, it's quite disturbing. But it's included in the Bible for a reason, and as gory as it is, it's a message that needs to be shared. In 2 Kings 6 verses 26-30 we meet two mothers. Earlier in chapter 6 we find unrest between Israel and Syria leading to the king of Syria gathering his army and besieging Samaria. Add to that there was a famine. The economy reached the point where a donkey's head sold for 80 shekels of silver and a fourth of a cab of dove droppings sold for five shekels of silver. Donkey heads and dove droppings! People were desperate! These were dire times. But when mothers nonchalantly kill their children and think nothing of it, something is wrong. When mothers sacrifice their sons to serve themselves, there's a bigger problem than lack of food. It's no wonder the king tore his robes and went around in sackcloth. She's mentioned 25 times in the Bible and yet we're not anything about her other than her relationship to  David, her husband, and her sons. Either her husband died young or else Zeruiah was the more prominent member of the marriage because whenever her sons are mentioned, it's always that they were the sons of Zeruiah with no mention of her husband.Zeruiah lived a life in the shadows. We have no record of her doing anything other than raising three sons. And yet, 25 times her sons are listed as being the sons of Zeruiah.Don't miss out on the daily bonus episodes being released as part of National Podcast Post Month. We're told she was the oldest of King Saul's two daughters. No mention of her is made again until chapter 18. Princesses are supposed to have these perfect lives, but Merab is one of many examples that show that sometimes being born into royal or prominent families can actually make for difficult lives for young women as they are often stripped of their rights. They become pawns in political games. Thus was the case of Merab. Don't miss out on the daily bonus episodes being released as part of National Podcast Post Month. Hi and welcome to All God's Women. I'm Sharon Wilharm, your host, and it's day 8 of National Podcast Post Month.Today we continue in 2 Samuel 17. Yesterday we left off when David's two messengers were caught in En-rogel but escaped to Bahurim, a village east of Jerusalem on the route to Jordan. They came to a man's house that had a well in his courtyard, so they climbed in the well. The woman of the house saw what was going on and figured out who they were. Without anyone observing what she was doing, she covered the opening with a cloth then threw dried grain atop the cloth. You may be at a season of your life where most of your time is spent at home. You may feel there's nothing you can do while tucked away at home. But God has you right where you need to be. All you have to do is listen to His promptings and obey what He tells you to do. It's the only time in the Bible this term is used, and while it has negative connotations nowadays, at the time, it was just another word for servant girl.Isn't it amazing how God can take those whom the world disregards and use them in mighty ways? Had the wench of En-rogel been a man, or even a wealthy or prominent woman, she would not have been able to serve as freely as a spy. As it was, she was practically invisible. They danced around singing, “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.”I'm sure they meant well. They were celebrating David's successes. Hi and welcome to All God's Women. They were merely going about their business, doing something they did every single day, but this particular day God used them in a mighty way.God used a lost donkey, a servant, and a group of girls to introduce Saul to the prophet Samuel who was to anoint him king. Our God is a God of destiny, not happenstance. Nothing is truly random. It all happens for a reason. It's likely those girls never knew that the man looking for a lost donkey was the man who later ruled over their land. It would have never occurred to them that giving directions to a lost man would set him on a royal path. But God knew. And not only did he let those young women be a part of His plan, He also recorded it for posterity so that we might know as well. For All God's Women Bible study show notes, visit All God's Women websiteDon't miss out on the daily bonus episodes being released as part of National Podcast Post Month.
