TG Watkins, Director of Stocks at Simpler Trading and Editor of the Profit Pilot website, joins us to share his key technical and trading insights after the market pullback earlier this week on the back of the news about the disruptive Chinese AI platform unrolled by DeepSeek. Various sectors of the market saw double-digit moves down on Monday like artificial intelligence, semiconductors, utilities, nuclear, uranium, and crypto mining stocks, and we are looking at how things are acting here mid-week. We start off looking at the charts of NVIDIA Corp (Nasdaq: NVDA), the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH), and Applied Digital Corporation (Nasdaq: APLD) as the chip and AI infrastructure stocks that were quite effected. Next we look into how the narrative had shifted around the anticipated power generation needs for A.I., and how that roiled utility stocks like Constellation Energy Corp (Nasdaq: CEG), or small modular nuclear reactor stocks like Oklo Inc (NYSE: OKLO) and NuScale Power Corporation (NYSE: SMR). TG makes the point that most of these stocks had huge runs higher into overbought territory leading up to this week's corrective moves, and discusses where he sees support coming in, and what he will be watching moving forward. In sympathy with the utilities and SMR stocks selling down, we also saw the uranium mining stocks get hit hard earlier this week, so we take a closer look at the technical setup on the Sprott Uranium Miners ETF (NYSE: URNM). Wrapping up we also reviewed how the power consumption needs of crypto mining companies, counting on all that additional power generation from AI to improve the energy grid and efficiencies, also had large corrective moves earlier this week. We look into Hut 8 Corp. (Nasdaq: HUT), IREN Limited (NASDAQ: IREN), and TeraWulf Inc. (Nasdaq: WULF) for key technical factors that TG will be watching on the charts. If you come across a rattlesnake in the woods, don't pick it up. Sounds obvious, right? But many traders fail to understand how that principle applies to their “buys” and “sells.” So says John Carter – founder of Simpler Trading, long-time market educator, and author of Mastering the Trade – in this week's MoneyShow MoneyMasters Podcast. We begin by discussing John's quarter-century in the business, including how he got started trading, what important lesson he learned about asymmetrical risk early on, and why you can't get trapped by “your own emotions or dopamine addictions” if you want to achieve long-term success. He then explains why having a “human AI-based community” behind you can help you “protect yourself from yourself” – not to mention stay focused on the most important trade, which is always the NEXT one. The conversation next pivots to a key mistake John sees traders making today and how to avoid it...why options trade “structuring” is so important...and what “final piece of the puzzle” you should learn to appreciate. Plus, he covers why and how you should stay away from those charting “rattlesnakes”!In the remainder of our conversation, John elaborates on his favorite trading tactic, the “Squeeze”...the impact 0DTE options are having on markets and how retail traders can adapt...and what he thinks about the stock market, interest rates, the bull run in gold, and the trading environment heading into the new year. Finally, John previews what he'll talk about at the 2024 MoneyShow Masters Symposium Sarasota, scheduled for Dec. 5-7 at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. TG Watkins, Director of Stocks at Simpler Trading and Editor of the Profit Pilot website, joins us to review his technical outlook on a number of sectors including broad US market indexes, the surge higher in Nvidia, small caps, electric vehicles, cannabis stocks, gold, gold stocks, silver, and copper. One big takeaway is the narrowing of market breadth again into the large mega-cap stock leadership, like Nvidia, and that much of the larger market stocks are not having the same kinds of runs as seen in the weighted indexes. This leads to a discussion about the smaller cap stocks, like those seen in the Russell 2000 via (IWN), and how higher interest rates may be factoring in. With only 40% of stocks above their 50-day simple moving averages, we ask TG if some of the money made in the larger tech leadership will eventually filter down in the rest of the sector that has been underperforming. TG also highlights EV stocks and cannabis stocks as 2 other areas that have fallen out of favor, that he is watching more closely to see if they are ready to start moving higher. He also notes the importance of the upcoming US election cycle, and how investors are waiting for more clarity as to future of where money and power will flow in the next business cycle. Turning toward the commodities, we've seen gold, silver, copper, and other commodities turn down over the last few weeks, and TG points out that with gold, GDX, and copper having already dipped below their 50-day SMAs, that it is likely that silver will also follow suit and do the same. TG makes the point that after such big moves higher, that it is natural to see these sectors cool off and correct for a while, and that he'll be watching the 21 week moving average for a potential area of support in the weeks to come. TG Watkins, Director of Stocks at Simpler Trading and Editor of the Profit Pilot website, joins us to review his technical outlook on a number of sectors including broad US market indexes, the cryptocurrencies, crypto mining stocks, the commodities sector, lithium stocks, uranium stocks, copper stocks, and regional banking stocks. We start with TG's assessment of the general US equity markets and chart levels, based on moving averages, where he expects support to come in for the next bounce. Then we reviewed the latest bullish speculation on tap in many sector of the stock market, commodities, and even a resurgence in the meme stocks and cryptoverse. While TG has doubts about any longevity in the meme stocks like Gamestop (GME) or AMC Entertainment (AMC), he remains constructive on the crypto leadership in Bitcoin and Ethereum. We also discuss how the crypto mining stocks are a mixed bag with Cleanspark (CLSK), Iris Energy (IREN), Marathon Digital Holdings (MARA) and potentially Cypherpunk Holdings (HODL.CN) (CYFRF) setting up well, while concurrently Riot Platforms (RIOT), Hut 8 (HUT), and Hive (HIVE) are still struggling. Shifting over to the commodities, and noting the big moves higher in gold and silver and copper, TG points to the lithium stocks as a beat down area of the resource complex that may have bottomed and started to move higher. With regards to the uranium miners he highlights the picture perfect setup on the chart of the Global X Uranium ETF (URA), with respect to the 50-day moving average and the cup & handle pattern within a cup & handle pattern, being very constructive. We also review the strength we've seen in the copper stocks, and in particular how he is reading the very big move we've seen in the copper seniors via the ETF (COPX) and how the pullback we are seeing today may just be a much needed rest. Wrapping up we talk about other beat down stocks and sectors that may be setting up for their next moves higher, referencing both Blink Charging (BLNK) and the SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (KRE). In this MoneyShow MoneyMasters Podcast episode, she joins me for a deep dive discussion on options trading tactics and stock market trends.Danielle first covers the loss of momentum in sectors like technology and financials over the last few weeks. She notes how high expectations were heading into Q1 earnings...but how company executives like JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon have shared more muted outlooks on their operations. In tech, she says: “We knew the crazy train wasn't going to go on forever” in stocks like Super Micro Computer Inc. (SMCI) and Nvidia Corp. (NVDA). But as long as one key sector – and an ETF that tracks it – holds up, she thinks there's still a shot we go higher over the longer term. We also discuss energy, gold, and profit opportunities in commodity stocks. The rest of the conversation focuses on Danielle's specialty: Options trading tactics and techniques. She explains how and why she focuses on pattern recognition in general and “the squeeze” in particular. She covers how to profit from sentiment extremes, using a recent series of real-life Tesla Inc. TG Watkins, Director of Stocks at Simpler Trading and Editor of the Profit Pilot website joins me to share his view on the recent market weakness and the precious metals (and commodities) outperforming for the last almost 2 months. We start with TG's assessment of the markets and if the correction this month is a natural correction or the start of a larger downtrend. We then move to the sectors that are outperforming the market, which are commodities. We focus mostly on gold. Is this sideways move simply a consolidation of the recent gains? TG Watkins, Director of Stocks at Simpler Trading and Editor of the Profit Pilot website, joins us to share his technical outlook for uranium stocks, gold, GDX, silver, US general equity markets, bitcoin, and the crypto miners. We lead off looking at the continued surge in uranium stocks via the Sprott Funds Uranium Mining ETF (URNM) and Denison Mines (DNN), noting they may be getting extended in the short-term, but still are set up in a bullish pattern for the medium-term. Next we look at the technical set up in gold, which has been bullish on the longer-duration weekly and monthly charts, but a bit weaker on the short-term daily chart. GDX and Silver both are choppier charts, channeling sideways, and have yet to show the same bullish posture as the gold chart has, but TG mentioned that on a the longer-term charts that they may have just taken longer to consolidate before play catch up. Next we shifted over to the US equity markets, where TG outlines why he thinks the markets broadly need a cooling off period after such a big move higher at the end of 2023 into overbought conditions. He'll be watching many individual stock charts, highlighting what we've seen in companies like Roku Inc (ROKU) or Datadog, Inc. (DDOG) to assess how they pullback to the 21-day exponential moving average and the 50-day simple moving average to see how pricing interacts with support, for the next move higher. We wrap up by getting TG's technical take on the cryptocurrencies, highlighting the volatility in bitcoin, but the general trend higher the last few months anticipating the around the bitcoin ETFs being approved. However, when one looks as the price action and charts for the crypto miners like Marathon Digital Holdings (MARA), Riot Platforms (RIOT), Hut 8 (HUT), or Hive Digital Technologies (HIVE), it was a textbook example of buy the rumor/sell the news type of trading action.
