The use of psychedelic substances in mental health treatment has been studies for many years. Modern use of Ketamine, explored in past episodes, has become common enough to be evaluated as a best practice treatment and is beginning to gain ground with insurance reimbursement. The use of MDMA and Psilocybin mushrooms in treatment of Depression, PTSD, and other disorders is showing fascinating results in research. Chris Tittle is a psychotherapist in Sisters Oregon, and is educated and certified in the use of psychedelics in mental health management. He joins the program to discuss current theories, research, and training for mental health clinicians in this area. Our destination is the world-famous Metolius River in Central Oregon with expert fly angler, fly tier, and blogger, John Kreft, with Riverkeeper Flies. The Metolius is considered one of the most challenging streams in the West. Designated a Wild & Scenic river, it winds its way through the Deschutes National Forrest where prolific hatches and wary trout await the venturing angler. It's a spring creek with healthy populations of rainbows and Bull Trout. John moved to Sisters Oregon to be close to his favorite river, the Metolius, which he's been fishing for 50 years. He's living the dream, fishing 130 days plus a year and writing weekly about his fly fishing adventures and innovative fly patterns on his website, Riverkeeper Flies where he has cataloged over 200 fly patterns. John was featured in American Fly-Fishing magazine last year and is a frequent speaker and celebrity tier at shows and clubs throughout the Northwest. Lucky for us, John is here to give us the low down on the Metolius from top to bottom while sharing some of his favorite fly patterns and stories from his adventures in the West. So dig out your 6x tippet and dust off your A-game as we dive into the Metolius River, Oregon style. On this episode of the podcast I'm joined by outdoor adventure photographer Will Saunders to talk about how he went from a kid working as a white water rafting guide in his high school years wanting to study marine biology in college, to suddenly being influenced to take up the torch of photojournalism and pursue a life in photography. Growing up in a variety of outdoor influenced areas, Will was always attracted to the life that the mountains and oceans offered. By the time he ended up in Sisters Oregon, he was ready and open to the outdoor adventures that were presented by the unique high school he attended. After graduating he set off unsure of what would be next, but the universe offered him a mentor that would change the course of his life. Once he found photography, his work ethic, creative drive, and world renowned mentors helped him quickly develop his own brand of visual storytelling to offer to the outdoor adventure space. During our conversation Will talks about how this podcast ended up helping to kickstart his career, what it was like working as Tim Kemple's first assistant and alongside the Camp 4 Collective team, how he continues to creatively push himself and evolve as a photographer, and the advice he gives to others with dreams of becoming an adventure storyteller.
