Send us a textEver wondered how a spontaneous road trip could spark a lifelong interest in the paranormal? Join us as we chat with Lori and Brandon Spicer, who recount their transformative journey to Gettysburg that kindled their passion for ghost hunting. We reminisce about the unexpected start to their supernatural adventures and chuckle over the quirky contact name I have for Brandon in my phone. Fueled by a love for ghost shows and Civil War history, the Spicers share how their newfound hobby has led them to explore eerie sites and encounter the unknown. As the conversation unfolds, we unravel chilling tales of ghostly presences and mysterious energies, from the unsettling atmosphere of Saks Bridge to haunting encounters at a local infirmary. With a mix of curiosity and caution, Lori and Brandon discuss their experiences with both residual and intelligent hauntings, emphasizing the importance of respect when communicating with spirits. A particular highlight is the recurring interactions with a spirit named Harold, whose presence offers a glimpse into the delicate balance between intrigue and reverence in the world of paranormal investigations. We wrap up with thrilling accounts of overnight investigations, detailing the use of spirit boxes and the excitement of exploring historically significant locations like the Malinsville Penitentiary. From the spine-tingling mystery of a pink cell to the intriguing voices captured via the Estes method, these tales promise to captivate every paranormal enthusiast.

When UK wholesaler Spicers folded last year, it dramatically changed the balance of what had essentially been a duopoly in the market between Spicers and VOW. One consequence is that it has opened the door for another distributor, Exertis, to play a more prominent role. In this episode of OPI Talk, OPI News Editor Andy Braithwaite speaks with Exertis Supplies Commercial Director Raj Advani about recent developments at the company and for his thoughts on the UK independent office products channel. In this OPI Talk podcast, we feature part of an interview that OPI CEO Steve Hilleard and News Editor Andy Braithwaite conducted with Sean Shine, CEO of Ireland-based Paragon, and Steve Horne, CEO of OT Group, the entity created following Paragon's acquisition of those SPOT assets. If, like many in the office products industry, you had never heard of Paragon until last year, this podcast will give you a better understanding of the group. You will also learn why it decided to acquire OfficeTeam, ZenOffice, Spicers Ireland and certain other assets, and what the underlying problems were at SPOT that forced it into administration. Make sure you are subscribed to OPI to read more from this interview in the January/February 2021 issue of OPI magazine and online at opi.net. It will cover topics such as the strategic priorities for the OT Group, how it is responding to market conditions in the UK, adapting to work from home and dealing with Brexit, plus its new relationship with the EOSA purchasing organisation. Note: this interview was conducted in December 2020, before it was publicised that Steve Horne will be stepping down from his role as CEO of OT Group, effective the end of March 2021. We couldn't have chosen a better candidate to finish off the Suncoast Prodcast Series for 2020! We spoke with Cameron Matthews the day before he opened his pop-up restaurant named Winston, located at Wasabi in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. He is well known for his Spicers' stint where he began as Head Chef and soon after stepped into the General Manager/Executive Chef role, achieving a position amongst the Senior Management team. In 2017, he applied for a Churchill fellowship and got it! He embarked on an adventure to collect new knowledge and experiences throughout restaurants in Spain, the USA, Denmark and the UK. In the end, he wrote a distinguished thesis that gave the word sustainability a whole new meaning in the kitchen. And no, he didn't just write about recycling. We will let you listen to the Prodcast before we tell you too much. Sit back, relax, listen in and enjoy!
With a job in the Hunter Valley and his family on the Sunshine Coast Cameron Matthews (Spicers Hunter Valley) had to choose between family and employment when the NSW and Qld borders shut. Opting to keep money coming in the door he spent 10 weeks away from his family, and the experience has set him on a new path to alter the negative culture and address the mental health of those in the industry.https://www.instagram.com/cameron__matthews/?hl=enFollow Deep In The Weeds on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/deepintheweedspodcast/?hl=enFollow Huckhttps://www.instagram.com/huckstergram/Follow Rob Locke (Executive Producer)https://www.instagram.com/foodwinedine/LISTEN TO OUR OTHER PODCASTSDirty Linen with Dani Valenthttps://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/dirty-linen-a-food-podcast-with-dani-valent/id1518946986The Crackling with Anthony Huckstephttps://linktr.ee/thecrackling
In this episode, OPI News Editor Andy Braithwaite is joined by well-known office products industry leader Robert Baldrey. Robert provides some great insight into recent developments in the business supplies wholesaling channel, namely the unfortunate demise of Spicers in the UK and the acquisition of SP Richards in the US by investors led by Mike Maggio and Yancey Jones. Robert spent many years in leadership positions in the wholesaling sector, having occupied senior roles at both Spicers in Europe and at VOW's parent company EVO. He is currently in charge of Office Depot Europe's project to go to market under the Viking brand. Note: This podcast was recorded in July 2020. WE DID IT! Light the fireworks and ring the bells, here we wave goodbye to an absolutely fantastic, perfectly singular book in our series. There really is nothing quite like Feast. No surprise it requires our biggest episode EVER. Today I discuss the brilliance of its anti-war message, the joy of focusing on the people rather than the titles, and that's all with trying to not comment too much on the overall! As for our chapters we must suffer through the brutality of Brienne's reward, as well as truly seeing what has become of the Brotherhood without Banners, every one of Cersei's mistakes comes to find her in the depths of the Sept of Baelor in what is a pretty good day for King's Landing in general, Jaime completes his victory at Riverrun, topping it off with some smacks to Spicers, Freys, and his own sister, and Sam finally brings us back to Oldtown to meet Marwyn, the Glass Candle, and a really, really big bunch of questions. Today's final chapters: -Brienne VIII -Cersei X - Jaime VII - Sam V So hop aboard the Isle for one last discussion on Feast and for some final goodbyes. There is a whole bunch to talk about (hence the three hours), but you might want to come for the examination of Stoneheart using guest right as a trap, Brienne's terrible penance, Cersei's great crimes coming to haunt her, Riverrun's end as the second true 'home' of the series, Jaime's growth to responsibility in the snow, his reply to a certain letter, the gamechanging of glass candles, my long-awaited counting of maester mentions, and a whole bunch more! Thank you all for joining us for Feast, it's been a hell of a ride Check out History of Westeros for the live streams and main analysis, plus how to get involved with the Flick community: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiYwENpLDO4gyB4dBrMYrjQ Please do consider giving us a rating or review if you can, and find more of the Isle of Faces and other projects at https://twitter.com/SerBuckley
