She will serve her final five years on probation. Family and friends of both Jennifer Dulos and Troconis delivered statements to the Connecticut court ahead of the sentencing by state Superior Court Judge Kevin A. Randolph. Troconis, 49, was found guilty on March 1 for the death of Jennifer Dulos, who was last seen five years ago dropping her kids off at school. Her body has yet to be recovered, and a judge declared the mother of five dead just days before Troconis' trial began.

Join us for a heartfelt and insightful conversation with Katherine Velez, a compassionate Veterinary Social Worker at Cornell Veterinary Specialists in Stamford CT, as she shares her experiences and wisdom in navigating the delicate journey of pet loss, quality of life assessments, and the importance of self-care in veterinary medicine. From comforting grieving pet owners to making difficult euthanasia decisions, Catherine sheds light on the emotional depth and professional challenges faced in veterinary practice. Discover the power of empathy, the role of humor in coping, and the profound impact of veterinary care on both animals and their human companions. Katherine Velez received her B.A. in HDFS with a minor in Women Studies in Spring of 2010. She was involved in Zero Tolerance, a student activities organization and participated in the production of The Vagina Monologues. During her time at UCONN, she completed an internship at St. Luke's Lifeworks (now Inspirica), working at their women's shelter. She also participated in a mentorship program with middle school children through the Stamford Public Education Foundation. This experience helped cement her interest in working with vulnerable populations and encouraged her to think about plans for after graduation. Her advisor, Dr. Annamaria Csizmadia, and professors were integral and supportive of her decision to pursue a social work master's degree. After graduation, Katherine earned her master's in social work with a clinical concentration from Fordham University. During her time at Fordham, she started working as a case worker at a local nonprofit, Person to Person, providing emergency assistance programs part time. She completed an internship with the White Plains Youth Bureau where she developed an after-work program for at risk youth in an immigrant community. She also completed her clinical internship at Norwalk Community Health Center where she provided individual psychotherapy to clinic patients. Upon completing her MSW, she started working full time for Person to Person and was promoted to Case Work Manager as the organization grew and branched out to a bigger catchment area. In 2016, Katherine began working as a Research Coordinator at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) in the Pediatrics Department. She had the privilege of working in several clinical trials within her department, including working with mothers and children in the NICU at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital and running mother-child groups in preschool settings. At CUMC, she earned the required hours toward her clinical license and is now a fully licensed social worker in the state of CT. Today, Katherine is the Veterinary Social Worker at Cornell Veterinary Specialists in Stamford CT where she works with clients and supports staff in the day-to-day human issues that arise within the veterinary field and the human-animal bond. She is also in private practice. Katherine's time at UConn helped her realize her goals of becoming a social worker. The staff and professors she met along the way forever impacted her life and the trajectory of it. It is because of these relationships that she was able to succeed and was prepared to pursue a master's degree. She will forever hold the UConn community in her heart and is grateful for her time in the HDFS program. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/speakingofpets/message

With a father who was primarily a jazz drummer, but would play all kinds of local pickup gigs (and still plays today at 87 years young) music came naturally to a blooming Mike Redmond. So it's no surprise an early career in music retail came naturally to young Mike. Starting in Sherman Oaks under the tutelage of Dave Montes, Redmond found himself early on working for Craig Martin in Marina Del Rey. Working in a Supervisor role, then Video Sales Manager, and ultimately Record Sales Manager Mike was promoted to the position of General Manager at the Dublin, CA Tower Records. As expansion continued into the late 90's Mike found himself heading up the store in Stamford CT, best known as a suburban hub for all the CEOs of record labels and media companies, similar to Paramus NJ. It was in Stamford that young Redmond would pepper the GM of the new store on Ave of the Arts Philadelphia regarding sales and other metrics. Duty called and Redmond took over the Washington DC store for close to four years. He finished his time with Tower in Rockville, MD where he worked until the company was sold at auction to the Great American Liquidators. On his way out the door, he threw the (former) GM of that Philadelphia store a lifeline. Join us for a conversation about the joys of working for the world's greatest record store chain.

Can a Chiropractor Fix HeadachesChiropractic care has been shown to be effective in treating several types of headaches, including tension headaches, migraines, and cervicogenic headaches (headaches caused by disorders of the neck). Here are some of the ways chiropractic care helps headaches. Chiropractors can and do fix headaches.Chiropractic Spinal Manipulation helps with headachesSpinal manipulation, also known as a chiropractic adjustment, is the most common technique used by chiropractors to treat headaches. Spinal manipulation involves applying a controlled force to a joint in the spine to restore its proper function. This can help to relieve tension and pressure in the muscles, joints, and nerves of the neck and head, which can reduce the frequency and severity of headaches.Research has shown that spinal manipulation is an effective treatment for tension headaches and migraines. A study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that spinal manipulation was more effective than medication for reducing the frequency and intensity of migraine headaches. Another study published in the European Journal of Neurology found that spinal manipulation was more effective than medication for reducing the frequency of tension headaches.Core Health Darien203-656-3636This podcast welcomes your feedback here are several ways to reach out to me. Hip Pain Stamford CT You may be shocked by the number of individuals who experience hip discomfort, particularly as they grow older. I recommend you venture to the closest Walmart and also have a look at just how a few of the seniors are easily moving around. Good chance they have had hip discomfort for a rather long time. They probably make good use of Advil or Aleve to handle the hip discomfort. There is a great probability that some will require hip replacement surgical treatment. If you desire to prevent hip surgical procedures you must read much more on this.Hip Pain for beginers Hip discomfort is typically a wide term to define any type of pain in the location where you would certainly place your hands right into your pocket. The hip is actually comprised of 2 bones the ilium and also the femur, with each other they create the hip joint. Extreme wear can with time produce an excruciating discrepancy in the hips that results in deterioration of the hip joint. Left neglected this can cause the requirement for a medical hip substitute as the hip discomfort ends up being unbearable. A word of care, persistent hip discomfort can cause pelvic instability, making significant falls more likely.Prevent Hip Replacement. If you desire to stay clear of hip discomfort or hip substitute, the hips require to function mechanically efficiently. The hips contain the sacrum and also both ilia bones. When the hips are steady it sustains the femoral head much more effectively. You will certainly more than likely not have hip discomfort. Bones can subluxate as well as that uses to the ilia and also sacrum producing discomfort in your hip. This is where a chiropractic care modification of the hip can do you marvels. Biomechanical effectiveness will certainly maintain your hip functioning effectively as well as go a long way to assist you to stay clear of pain in the back. Massage therapy sessions might really feel great, yet it will certainly not do anything to restore the pelvic bones to their correct area.Hip Pain or Back Pain?Well is it hip pain or back pain? It may be both. The pelvis is a major driver of pain in the lower half of your body. When there is instability in the pelvis this can easily turn into a hip issue because the hips are supported by your pelvis, Similarly, when the lower back is hurting it can be from the pelvis not doing its job. Basically, if you want less hip pain and or lower back pain you should be under the care of your chiropractor. The chiropractor's job is to keep your skeletal system operating at mechanical efficiency. When your spine is mechanically sound it will function better to help you avoid pain in the back and hips.Chiropractic Care for Hip Pain.Chiropractic care can balance out an uneven pelvis that in many cases is the culprit in hip pain cases. Therapy or medication alone will not balance out bones that are out of place. A hip that has extra stress placed on it will cause you to have pain. If the problem persists it can lead to degeneration of the hip and ultimately lead to the need for hip replacement. Again be forwarned that a painful hip puts you at increased risk for a traumatic fall that can cause a hip fracture. Wouldn't it be easier to just get the hip fixed early on and save yourself the misery? Core Health Darien has been fixing bad hips for over 30 years. If you would like help with your hip problem call us 203-656-3636.

Eric Carson has been living an active lifestyle since the 90s that most of us would be happy to emulate. He started cycling just to get to campus and back. A friend of his asked him to do a 25-mile bike ride. He thought it was a long way back then. Today, riding and cycling is part of his lifestyle. Carson says his greatest joy out of cycling is camaraderie. He enjoys having a great time outdoors with his tribe. Episode Highlights: How Eric got into cycling How he moved from solo rides to cycling with groups Getting his motorcycle in 2001 How a sports group changes as members change with time Struggling to stay active when Covid hit in 2020 Cycling again for the pleasure of meeting friends and having a great time How to get into cycling and find your cycling tribe Guest Bio: Eric was borned and raised in Stamford Ct. He has one brother. Played all three major sports in high school (football, baseball, & basketball) He received my BS in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. While there, he had my first introduction to casual biking. He commuted back and forth to campus and work. He did one 25 mile ride at a request of a friend. and thought that was crazy. He started taking it a little more seriously in the early 90s and did a few multiple sclerosis rides from Richmond to Williamsburg (160 miles over 2 days). That stretch in the 90s culminated in doing one of the Aids Bike Rides in 1997.....a 4 day 365 mile ride from Raleigh NC to Washington DC. He found it very fulfilling. The COVID-19 pandemic brought him back to cycling, and it became a good addiction and a lifestyle. www.BackPainCt.com6 Weeks to a Better Back brought to you by The Back Pain ProjectWhat is the 6 weeks to a Better Back Program? The 6 Weeks to a Better Back Program was designed by Dr.Brian McKay to help people with serious low back pain to have a starting place to begin healing their own back with exercises. With the new year, people set unrealistic goals that are difficult to meet. If someone with a chronically bad lower back begins to exercise they often fail because the supporting skeletal system can not meet the demands placed upon the spine. The 6 Weeks to a Better back program takes into consideration that a fresh starting point will allow the body to acclimate to the increased demands being placed on the spine. We have seen people start to exercise vigorously in January and usually end up in more pain. We do not want to see that happen. By starting out with basic stretches the lower back pain sufferer can start to slowly awaken the body. This gives the back pain sufferer a better chance to succeed with gradually more challenging exercises in an organized gradient. If you truly want to help a bad back get better you have to start with a plan. The exercises and stretches are provided free of charge to encourage the development of healthy habits. A better foundation can be the start of a long continuous journey towards better health overall. Think of it as crawling before walking, and eventually, we want you running! Right now we are bombarded with gym memberships and diets. How often do our well-intentioned goals go to the wayside? Quickly, old poor habits return and we forget about that diet or exercise program we need. Studies have shown that it takes a sustained commitment to make lasting changes in our lives. The 6 Weeks to a Better Back Program was designed to help those who want it the proper start to radically change their lives. The 6 Weeks to a Better Back Program is only a starting point. Consider it a remedial class or a driver's Ed class before you get your driver's license. Once your structure has a good foundation you will have less chance of falling to the wayside. How many people do you know who have earnestly tried to get off to a good start only to fail in the short term? Do not think that this will cure you of your back pain. In that case, do not bother, stay on the couch with the remote in hand, wishing things would be different. There is no charge to get started just click the link provided, answer a few questions and the following Monday get started. You will not need any expensive equipment. Bring your desire to change the path you are on. If you choose to do nothing your back pain will only worsen. That same pain can rob you of the joys of life. I look forward to helping you get started on a life of being pain-free. Thanks, Dr.Brian McKay.Here is the link https://bit.ly/6weeksBetterBackThe Back Pain Project551 Post RoadDarien CT 06820203-656-3638
