Dan & Paul scope out principles for statting out real people in D&D and other role-playing games. What do the standard ability scores really mean, anyway? How have they varied over editions of D&D across the years? And how can we compare and model real people in other games like Call of Cthulhu, Star Frontiers, and Fearful Ends? Kinanthropometry is defined as the study of human size, shape, proportion, composition, maturation, and gross function, in order to understand growth, exercise, performance, and nutrition. It is a scientific discipline that is concerned with the measurement of individuals in a variety of morphological perspectives, its application to movement and those factors which influence movement, including: components of body build, body measurements, proportions, composition, shape and maturation; motor abilities and cardiorespiratory capacities; physical activity including recreational activity as well as highly specialized sports performance. The predominant focus is upon obtaining detailed measurements upon the body composition of a given person. Kinanthropometry is the interface between human anatomy and movement. It is the application of a series of measurements made on the body and from these we can use the data that we gather directly or perform calculations using the data to produce various indices and body composition predictions and to measure and describe physique. Part 3 of our Start Frontiers homebrew rules playtest continues the story of S.C.U.M., the Splendid Company of Upstanding Mercenaries. They've made their way inside the Aramax One power facility to destroy the computer in the basement, only to discover some mercenaries have already broken in, disarmed the guards, and occupied the basement to do...something. I want to warn you that I accidentally call the Sathar aliens the "Sraath" for the first half of the discussion (Sraath are the worm-like humanoidsI added to my Unnatural Selections monster book in homage to the Star Frontiers game-hence the verbal choke-up). Since she was a small child, April has had a talent for drawing and painting. She would draw anything and everything that came into her imagination. Of all things, she drew dragons the most! Thankfully, her loving and encouraging family inspired her to embrace her love for the arts. She grew up around art. Her father's art studio was filled with all the delights a child could indulge. This week we're going all the way back to 1982! We're playing an adventure from TSR's Star Frontiers using the Basic Rules.  This is an extremely outdated style of game with outdated rules. It's really barely more sophisticated than an old-fashioned random board game like Sorry or Candyland. The new TSR is in the news again and it never seems to be good news whenever they get press.  This week, we give our thoughts on TSR's lawsuit against Wizards of the Coast.  TSR, why not just make some good games? ** Update It seems that TSR has decided to stop moving forward with this lawsuit.*** TSR LLC's CEO Justin LaNasa has since updated the IndieGoGo page claiming that he will formally try again.  As for WOTC, their lawyers have officially gone on the offensive. In addition to the aforementioned issue with Star Frontiers, WOTC is suing TSR LLC for the ongoing use of the TSR logo now associated with LaNasa's company. Since WOTC owns this specific logo and TSR has been wrongfully using it, there is a legal precedent for fraud. Worse still, the body of evidence for this can be found in TSR's own filed complaints against WOTC. In fairness, trademark fraud isn't the kind of case that leads to serious jail time, but considering the longstanding antagonism between the two companies, this can lead to serious financial distress for TSR LLC. Unfortunately, locked doors apparently can only be opened one way in Seal Team Blob. Picking through the ruins of their own destruction lead to some clues, but sooner or later all those explosions are going to get noticed by someone.

Upon arriving on planet, they begin to encounter lifeforms that are not at all what they expected. Are they the products of Sathar Bio-engineering experiments? Or something much more sinister?

Fortunately for the UPF, There was already a significant fleet presence and, within days, the UPF were able to fortify the south-eastern galactic region and pen the Sathar fleets in. Theseus was lost, as was Minotaur and the facilities on Creon. However, the bleeding has been stemmed there and, for now, The UPF has the upper hand. Unfortunately, contact was lost 10 hours ago with the UPF's facilities on Lynchpin. In light of this crisis, a special team is called up. Welcome to the adventures of Seal Team Blob!

Unfortunately, only he has the codes to fly the Succubus and the GM is using video game logic to force us to follow him. With only one objective left in the quest log, the party heads down into Jocasta Base to meet their destiny.

It's super fortunate that this extremely helpful NPC has the codes and the know-how to fly this highly experimental craft. Unfortunately, the team must now help him complete his mission. Such a simply run to a communications station is so easy. What could go wrong?

Rogue monsters, horrible experiments, and mysterious lights permeate the area. “I hope we get out of here soon,” they say. “If only there was a guy who could provide us with everything we need, conveniently around the next corner, I'd trust him implicitly!”

As they trudge down the long dark tunnels, they come across room REC-42. This rest and recreation area provides all the comforts a lonely soldier could ever need, trapped in a dim UPF Facility for years on end. Unfortunately, It appears that someone has some very strange definitions for the word “Recreation”

Star Frontiers > The Third Sathar WarMisinterpretations put everyone's life in jeopardy as Fred Burgess is forced to activate the defenses of Mining Colony Alpha in response to some bad intelligence. Now, the party must make some hard choices. Do they abandon their new friends to the fate they have brought upon them? Or will they stand, fight, and run the risk of not living to tell the UPF of this new and terrible threat?

What seems like an out of the way holdout location takes an interesting turn as the denizens turn out to have rather eclectic tastes. Hopefully these locals will be able to provide some help, as the Sathar are closing in and there isn't much choice but to delve deeper into the mysteries of Minotaur.

We're back in Texas with Terry Thomas of Tabletop Plus for Episode 45 of Tales from the Fandom.
