Giff Beaton and Allie Kelly moved to Serenbe from Atlanta six years ago, motivated by a desire to raise their twin boys closer to nature and to escape the city's urban sprawl. By day, Giff works as a Delta pilot - but he is also an accomplished naturalist & nature photographer, authoring or co-authoring multiple books  like Birds of Georgia, Dragonflies & Damselflies, and Tiger Beetles of the Southeastern United States. Giff also leads the occasional nature walk in Serenbe, which is a can't miss event for residents and visitors alike. In this interview, Steve and Monica chat with Giff about how his interest in nature began, the unique species you can find right here in our neck of the woods, and why he finds time spent in nature so grounding and calming. Show NotesGiff Beaton WebsiteAbout GiffBirds of Georgia by Giff Beaton, John Parrish, and Gregory KennedyDragonflies and Damselflies by Giff Beaton Tiger Beetles of the Southeastern United States by Giff Beaton, R. 2018: Life in Pieces / TV Series that Ended Too Soon

We're closing the yearbook on 2018 with a criminally underappreciated TV series, Life in Pieces. This show contained a fantastic cast including James Brolin, Dianne Wiest, Colin Hanks, and Betsy Brandt, among others. And if you liked Modern Family, you would be sure to love this too. We break down the cast, a classic episode, and much more.  While fantastic, the series only ran 3 1/2 seasons. Giff, who chose this one, felt it was too short of a run. So we decided to draft our favorite TV series that ended too soon. Who was the lucky one to get first pick, and therefore, Freaks and Geeks? We share memories, favorite rides, attractions, and more. We also draft our favorite family vacation destinations (whether we've been there or want to go there). 2nd Chance Month: Dumb and Dumber / Top Most Quotable Movies

Giff's 2nd Chance is from 1994, what he describes as minute-for-minute the funniest movie ever: Dumb and Dumber. Jim Carrey was on a roll in 1994 and Jeff Daniels stepped out of his usual style to create a comedy classic. It's also the movie that got the Farrelly brothers off and running to dominate comedy in the 90s. In our minds, this is also one of the most quotable movies ever, which will be obvious as we take you through it. So to cap off the episode, we draft our favorite most quotable movies. You'll hear some of the classics like Caddyshack and Christmas Vacation and some that have made it into the everyday lexicon like Forrest Gump. What do you like to quote? Did it make our list?
