Few bands have flown the flag for melodic metal as long and as passionately as Lillian Axe, and at the heart of it all is guitarist, songwriter, and founding member Steve Blaze. Known for their powerful hooks, soaring melodies, and spiritual undertones, Lillian Axe carved out a unique spot in hard rock history. Emerging from the vibrant Louisiana music scene in the mid-1980s, the band quickly gained a loyal following with their self-titled debut produced by Ratt's Robbin Crosby, and followed it with the critically acclaimed Love + War, a staple in any glam metal enthusiast's collection.Steve Blaze has always been more than just a guitar hero. He's a storyteller, a spiritual seeker, and a guardian of the band's legacy. Throughout decades of shifting musical trends and industry challenges, Blaze has remained the driving creative force behind Lillian Axe. From the haunting harmonies of “Show a Little Love” to the crushing riffs of “Crucified,” the band has consistently delivered music with depth, drama, and heart. While many of their peers faded into nostalgia circuits, Lillian Axe has continued to evolve. Their later albums like Waters Rising, XI: The Days Before Tomorrow, and 2022's From Womb to Tomb showcase a band unafraid to explore new sonic terrain while staying true to its roots. Blaze's songwriting has grown more conceptual and emotionally resonant, often tackling themes of life, death, and the metaphysical. The band's loyal fanbase—affectionately known as “Axeheads”—has followed them every step of the way.In this interview, Steve Blaze opens up about the band's journey, his personal evolution, and what continues to drive him creatively after all these years, Blaze proves once again why he remains one of the most thoughtful minds in rock and metal. He shares not only behind-the-scenes moments from the band's legacy but also a glimpse of what's coming next.Whether you're a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, now's a great time to dive into the world of Lillian Axe. Check out their music, tour updates, and latest releases at the official site: https://www.lillianaxe.com. And don't forget to follow them on Facebook and YouTube for more from the band that proves true metal never dies—it just gets wiser, deeper, and louder.⸻

Become a Patron! Help to support the show at: https://www.patreon.com/TheCommute We feature a rock star on today's show (Steve Blaze from Lillian Axe)--but the conversation goes so much deeper than music or a new video release (both of which are happening). Steve and I philosophize a bit, discussing religion, fate, truth, and kindness. A whopper of an episode, and one of my favorites ever!
Steve joins the show and discusses his musical career. It started with working on an album with Jim Dandy, but his passion was with Lillian Axe. Getting signed to MCA Records, by himself and finding the other members. Having Robin Crosby, from RATT, make his debut role as a producer, on the self titled Lillian Axe album. What wasn't happening for the band, that should've. We also discuss the member changes in the band and how it impacts him. We discuss something different for him and that is his faith and Christianity. It's a good chat to hear about and how it impacts his music. We also discuss the new band line up and new album, From Womb To Tomb. Lot's to hear on the is episode with Steve. The talk also features quality cut ins from Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum of Slaughter, Chad of Bulletboys, Eddie Trunk, and Brian Jones. We kick the episode off with talk about the spectacular sets from Kings X, Lynch Mob, Slaughter, Kix, Pretty Boy Floyd and Tuff from Hair Metal Holiday at Bomb Factory in Dallas - and then we end the episode with talk about Bulletboys and Lillian Axe's sets. We also play a track from New York's Stryctnyne. Thanks for listening, and please share!
Welcome to episode# 37 of The Tour Bus Music Show. On this episode we will be doing something a little different. We will be featuring the “rebirth” of a band that was very influential on me, T. Mic, years ago when I was just an aspiring musician. The band we will be featuring is a group of musicians that were known around the southern United States and the original line up of Lillian Axe. But this is not the Lillian Axe that released records worldwide, performing in music videos on MTV and toured extensively throughout the 80’s and nineties. This is also not the current ass-kicking group of musicians that are known as the Lillian Axe of today. No, this was the original, hard rocking, take no prisoners, metal in your face 4 man group of Johnny Vines (vocals), Steve Blaze (guitar), Michael Maxx (bass) and Danny King (drums). As a phoenix reborn from the ashes of yesterday the reformed group now known as Circle of Light has recorded and released its current CD “Rebirth”. The album is comprised of 11 tracks of the band’s music from the early days. What is ironic about the album is even though the music was written 25+ years ago it sounds as fresh and timeless as if it were written in the modern rock era. The album was released on August 28, 2012 on CME Records. The interview that we did with the group was done right after the CD release party at The Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans on August 11, 2012where they performed a scorching show to a packed house. We covered the performance there as well as having the privilege to see the group in its debut performance ironically opening for Lillian Axe at Fire in Jackson Mississippi a few months before. It was surreal to see a band that had not taken the stage together since the mid 1980’s come out not only sounding as good as they did back in the day, but even better with their audience singing along to every lyric even though they hadn’t heard these songs in over two decades…amazing. Both times we saw the group the completely obliterated the audience with their energy. pounding riffs, scorching solos, and a rhythm section that could give a fleet of pile drivers and jackhammers run for their money. Along with the interview we feature four cuts off of the album in a show that comes in at just over 40 minutes. This has been a reunion a long time coming with fans waiting in the wings for it to happen. They played the anthems that rocked a generation of young southern fans in the eighties and all the while infecting the modern youth with nothing less than pure heavy metal made up of sweat, rock and 180 proof steel string poison. Reboot...Loading...Overload...Lame Program Not Found...Version 2.0 Launch...Time To Rock! Welcome back everyone to the Tour Bus Music Show 2.0. What's the whole 2.0 about? I'll be happy to share...We have been on hiatus from podcasting for a little longer than expected. However, it was necessary. In the time we have been off we have been going through lots of changes, both personally and professionally. All positive! What has amazed us more than anything is our wonderful community of listeners...all of you! Thank you all for continuing to listen to our episodes while we have been on hiatus. We are back and now it's our turn to return the favor. Ready To Rock? In this week’s episode, hosted by T. Mic, we will be updating you on The Tour Bus Music Show's new format, music news, our featured artist of the week (our artist/album review), a brief update on concerts coming to our area and a lot more! The Tour Bus Music Show and The OnStage Music Show have now been merged into one show. The Tour Bus Music Show will now feature all genre's of music, but will continue to bring you the most talented bands from around the US and internationally. Our the show will now consist of three parts: The main show that will be bringing you music related news, discussions, reviews of new music, updates on new interviews and other music and band related information. This portion will continue to be released on a bi-weekly basis. "Tales From The Back Of the Bus" (our interview segments) will be released separately from the main show but will be released under the same RSS feed so that you will continue to get automatic downloads of the interviews along with the main show so you won't miss a thing. We will be going back to the inception of the show to bring back a third part of the show that will be the concert calendar for the US gulf south area. This portion will be released weekly and will feature both local and national dates. Bands that wish their dates to be included in the concert calendar should send their dates on a monthly basis (or more often) to us at: bands@thetourbusmusicshow.com. Submissions must be received by Monday of the week they wish to be listed by 5:00PM CST. The concert calendar will be posted online on the following Thursday by 10:00PM CST. To ensure that bands are listed, a submission of your band’s monthly calendar is recommended. In local music news, spring is in the air, flowers are in bloom, and local bands are kicking out great new music faster than rabbits on viagra. Big Frank has released their long-waited new album entitled Franco Grande. We had the chance to catch their show a couple of weeks ago and they were in usual bone-crushing form headlining a local club, Xtreme’s Sports Bar & Grill in Gonzales, LA. Ben, P. Fridge, Matt & Klipstein were taking no prisoners and rocking a packed house. Check them out at reverbnation.com/bigfrank and support them by getting their CD. Other bands releasing new albums this spring include upcoming guest’s on the Tour Bus Music Show such as Cardinal Collide, as well as Black Market Halos, Poltern Kinder with their new album, Feral (available at iTunes). Lillian Axe has welcomed their new vocalist Brian Jones to the ranks and have dived right in to recording their new album tentatively scheduled for late summer/early fall release. Both me and Ana were treated to a preview of one of the tracks for the new album while visiting with Steve and his wife recently entitled “Take The Bullet”. The band has now placed the song as a sample track on their website at LillianAxe.com and is now available to listen to. Lillian Axe will be debuting Brian at 2 shows on April 8, 2011 at The Howling Wolf in New Orleans, Louisiana and on April 9, 2011 at FIRE in Jackson, Mississippi. Check their website or our concert calendar for details. Speaking of Lillian Axe, for those of us who grew up around Louisiana in the 80’s and got to the see the original line-up of Lillian Axe prior to them being signed to MCA records, we have good news! The Original line up of the Axe is back together under the name Circle Of Light. That’s right, Steve Blaze, Johnny Vines, Mike Maxx, and Danny King will soon be rocking some of their original songs as well as new ones starting around this may. They are also in production of an album themselves. Details will be announced in the near future. Again keep an eye and ear for that matter on our concert calendar that can be found at www.audiosmaximus.com in both blog and audio versions. It will be a good summer concert season if you are into classic rock, I’m not saying that there will not be a lot of great many modern acts out there this summer, but there are several notable classic acts coming to the southern United States area on tour this summer. Just giving you a heads up for Southern Louisiana and South Mississippi Area (and by the way) check out The Tour Bus Concert Calendar this coming week for more dates and details. Chicago will be performing at Beau Rivage Theatre in Biloxi, MS on Friday April 15 and At Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, LA on Saturday April 16, 2011, Whitesnake will be performing at Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, MS on Friday May 20, 2011, Saturday May 21, 2011 at Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, LA and at Snowden Grove Amphitheatre in Southhaven, MS on Tuesday May 24, 2011, Also coming in May is Rocklahoma running from Friday May 27 through Sunday May 29, 2011. Although it will be a little drive for some it will be well worth the trip with bands such as Motley Crue, Poison, Staind, Whitesnake, Papa Roach, Seether, Hinder, Skillet, Saving Abel, Sick Puppies, Sebastian Bach, Black Label Society, Drowning Pool and Many, Many Others, Speaking of Motley Crue and Poison they will also be performing with special guests New York Dolls at the Mississippi Coast Colliseum in Biloxi, MS on Friday July 8, 2011, Def Leppard with Special Guest Heart will be at the New Orleans Arena Saturday July 23, 2011, Journey, Foreigner, and Night Ranger will be live in concert at Aaron’s Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA on Friday September 16, 2011 and Queensryche will be coming to Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, MS on Friday September 23, 2011 As we said earlier, we have been checking out and listening to a number of bands during our hiatus and we wanted to pass on some great bands and music that we have found. While they are not a new band, this weeks pick is “In This Moment” from Hollywood, California. This band has been around for several years and released their newest album, “A Star-Crossed Wasteland” in mid 2010. For those of you who have not heard of or checked out this band, if you like hard rock, they are a “must-listen-to-band”. The band of extremely proficient and talented musicians: Chris Howorth on Lead Guitar, Blake Bunzel on Rhythm Guitar, Jeff Fabb on Drums and Travis Johnson on bass, with their alluring and powerful vocalist Maria Brink area a force of nature when they come together to make music. From haunting melodies to a vicious, shredding musical assault on their, let’s say…more energetic songs, this band’s music is addicting as we found ourselves wanting to listen to them everyday. On the first track of “A Star Crossed Wasteland” you press play on pur CD or MP3 player and you are yanked forcefully into the middle of a Category 5 grade mosh pit and are left to wonder how this proverbial wall of sound came crashing down on your head. While the mood and sounds change throughout the album, the entire album is full of great tracks, especially the more commercial sounding (if they can actually sound commercial) “The Promise” which features a duet with Maria and Otherwise’s Adrian Patrick. We encourage you to checkout their website, their videos on YouTube and on tour. Their current releases to date are: Beautiful Tragedy (2007), The Dream (2008) and of course A Star Crossed Wasteland (2010). Wow, what a whirlwind it has been these past several months. Lots of changes, late nights, crazy schedules… life has felt like a revolving door and at times not know if we were coming or going. To say the least it has been a challenge at times to balance our work schedules at our main jobs, family, pets, and turning what started as a hobby podcasting into a full blown production company. There have been times along the way when balance in life has seemed like a distant dream but all in all it has worked out. Don’t get me wrong, we are not complaining, as a matter of fact the sharing of our passion for podcasting about the topics that we do has been a vast reward in of itself. We love connecting with not only the people and now friends that we work with and interview, but also connecting with our community of listeners and friends across the internet and world for that matter. Not much inspires us more than to wake up in the morning and looking forward into the coming day knowing that we’ll have a chance to interact with so many people that we did not know the day before and the chance to learn from their perspective on life as we interact. Overall, the journey has required a lot of dedication and energy, but it has been a blast and we are looking forward to many, many more years doing what we love to do! Along with the other changes we have had a few personnel changes. Scott “Bozo” Hood has decided to take some time for more pressing matters in his life and has, at least for the time, stepped down from his duties at Audios Maximus and we wish him nothing but continued success and prosperity no matter where life takes him. However, we have been joined by none other than my brother, Kenny to help keep us on track and to help take Global Stage Media and Audios Maximus Media Network to the next level. Kenny brings with him an extensive amount of talent, drive, and personality to the network. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from SoutheasternLouisianaUniversity and he will be a very valued Partner/Owner in our network and production company. Along with our change from a hobby to an actual functioning company we have also had to perform our due diligence and legalize our company. As we take these next steps we have registered with the IRS, filed our LLC, working to get our business license, trade marking, and registering to pay sales taxes as necessary on sales of future digital products. Yes, formally going into business can be challenging but exhilarating experience. But worth every minute of it. Now that we are back we have got some great groups coming up in the next few months. Nonpoint will be joining us in May. We will also have several other great bands joining us over the course of the spring & summer such as Southern Whiskey Rebellion, Cardinal Collide, Winbourne as well as major acts. Once Again keep an eye on our blog and listen to The Tour Bus Music Show for details. As far as our production schedule, it’s full throttle and we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Along with other changes our community can expect some changes to our websites look and feel over the next couple of months as we prepare to add many more interactive features to engage you, our listeners with and to improve the overall efficiency and control of it’s features and add our new community forum & discussion board. We welcome your comments and encourage you to e-mail us at feedback@audiosmaximus.com or call us on our listener feedback line at (206) 338-1478 to tell us your ideas on what we can add or change to make your experience better on our site. We want to hear from you! We hope you enjoyed this episode of The Tour Bus Music Show. Again, keep an eye on our upcoming concert calendar, which again will be released both on our blog and on this same podcast feed on the opposite weekends from this show. Also keep an ear our for our interview segments, Tales From the Back Of the Bus, which will be released on this same RSS feed as well. Of course all of the Tour Bus Music Show segments can always be found on our website at www.audiosmaximus.com, on iTunes, Zune, and Blackberry podcasts and on many other podcast directories online. Episode# 006 10/10/2010 The Tour Bus Music Show – Steve Blaze Of Lillian Axe In this weeks episode we will be featuring Steve Blaze of Lillian Axe. Lillian Axe has experienced almost everything playing music professionally has to offer…monster tours, major record label contracts, music videos (when MTV still played music videos), fame, fortune, and performing to millions of fans in their amazing career and even after 25+ years they are showing no signs of slowing down. They have just released their 10th album, Deep Red Shadows and been honored by being inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame. The only thing that these things have done is fan the flames even hotter for this veteran rock band and drive them to accomplish even more. Steve Blaze, the founder and one of the amazing guitarists in the group, sits down with me Bozo, and Ana for an amazing 90 minute interview. We feature tracks from Deep Red Shadows and he shares with us what is currently happening with the group, their past, and what’s coming in the future for the group. He also provides us with his insight and experience in the music industry and the changing trends of listeners, fans, and music in general. Steve had plenty to say and we were treated some extreme hospitality on his part of allowing us to do the interview in his personal studio. He introduced us to his wife, Julie & his daughter, and in a real surprise to us, his handsome little son, Jude. I, T Mic, had been acquainted with Steve for many years and knew he was a good guy, but sitting down with him for a few hours while recording this interview and talking with him off the record before and after. I have to say that I never had a clue as to what a kind & respectable man he was and that he has more good character than any pro musician I have ever known. The episode is 120 minutes and 11 seconds in length, which is longer than any episode we’ve done to date. But in the editing process we found that there was just such an abundance of good content that we didn’t want to take away from the experience by cutting it. Therefore, I would recommend that if you don’t have time to listen to it all at once, break it up and listen to it over a few sessions. But listen to the full interview, none the less. It was great! You can find out more information about Lillian Axe at: www.lillianaxe.com for band info, booking information, to purchase their albums, or to get any of their cool swag. Thanks again to Steve for taking the time to talk with us and his hospitality while conducting this interview and being so accommodating during the production of this episode. Look for our next show coming 11/26/2010 when we will be featuring Patrick Kennison & Jesse “Bawls” Billson of HEAVEN BELOW.

They are currently in the final stages of mixing their new release, as yet unnamed. The members of the group stopped by the studio and had a great discussion with us on what is currently happening with the group, their past, and what’s coming in the near future for the group. They were also kind enough to bring in a few of their most current studio out-takes from their new album to share with you, our listeners. BIG FRANK is: Ben Michon – Guitar & Vocals, Klipstein –Vocals, Drums & Percussion, Matt Dupre – Guitars & Backing Vocals and P. Fridge – Bass Guitar & Backing Vocals The episode is 61:53 minutes in length. You can find out more information about BIG FRANK at: http://www.myspace.com/getoutskimusic or http://www.reverbnation.com/bigfrank for booking information, to purchase their albums, or to get any of their cool swag. Their music is also available on iTunes A few of their upcoming live show dates are as follows: Sep 17 2010 9:00P Hollywood Bar Gramercy, Louisiana Oct 8 2010 9:00P Northgate Tavern Baton Rouge, Louisiana Oct 23 2010 9:00P Twist of Lime Metairie, Louisiana Thanks again to Ben, Klipstein, Matt & P. Fridge for taking the time to talk with us and their hospitality while attending their shows and being so accommodating during the production of this episode. Look for our next show coming September 26, 2010 when we will be featuring POLTERN KINDER. Also…Look for our shows in October when our guests will be: October 10, 2010 – Steve Blaze of Lillian Axe
