The Failsafe is a modern rock band that melds soaring riffs, powerful choruses, electronic elements, and pop-inspired vocals for a sound that's both catchy and filled with conviction. Since dropping their LP Erasing Color in 2019, The Failsafe has a musical catalog that's topped 1 million streams. What a crazy weekend! It was hot, it rained like crazy yesterday afternoon, and we had a killer time with Drowning Pool & the Texas Hippie Coalition. In the news this morning, the latest on the Idaho firefighters who were killed in an ambush, a possible sale of TikTok, the missing boater's body in the WI Dells has been recovered, a machete attack in Arcadia, and a WI man who is going to spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his family. In sports, the Brewers fell short of the sweep of the woeful Rockies yesterday, Chase Elliott got the win in Atlanta this weekend, a recap of the main event of UFC 317, and an MLB manager is out for the rest of the season with health concerns. Elsewhere in sports, an autographed Michael Jordan card just sold for a record amount of money, Caitlin Clark is a WNBA All Star game captain, and a heart-warming ovation for Ketel Marte in Arizona. An apartment building in Cleveland caught fire recently and a couple of Good Samaritans saved a baby after it was dropped out of a third-story window. Riding that wave was Chinese actor Jet Li, who made his first American-made film debut in Lethal Weapon 4 and went on to star in Kiss of the Dragon, Romeo Must Die and this dimension-hopping cop movie. Starring as both the hero and villain - the last two variants who have absorbed the energy from their murdered counterparts - Li faces off against himself with Jason Statham, Delroy Lindo, and Carla Gugino rounding out the cast. The film also tapped into a modern rock sound with Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Godsmack, and Papa Roach. Directed by James Wong and co-written by Wong with Glen Morgan, the film was neither a box office nor critical hit.
