Today I talked with Rick Wilkes, from Thriving Now, about the use of emotional freedom techniques (EFT) to help us recover from a variety of psychological and physical issues, including pain, anxiety, phobias and weight control. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a form of psychological acupressure based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments but without the invasiveness of needles. In addition to explaining EFT, we go deep into how to use this powerful technique to shift our engrained thought patterns and behaviour. Often, we desire to make a change, and we genuinely believe we want to do this, but then we sabotage ourselves for various reasons. Rick takes us through some setup options; these begin with the statement “Even though I feel” and different closing options depending on the individual goals.I hope you find this episode helpful. There are many different techniques for mastering our thoughts and regulating our emotions. This one suits me and I find it very useful. We hope you enjoy this podcast and would love to hear your experiences. To learn more about Rick and his work check out his website at Thriving Now, where you can book a free 15 minute chat with Rick to find out more. https://www.thrivingnow.com/start/If you have any health topics you would like covered or questions answered, please email me at susan@susanbirch.co.nzYou can sign up for my newsletter to keep up-to-date with the content I am publishing, monthly blogs, and Q & A webinars with experts from around the world.https://mailchi.mp/61eb6eb3e0df/newsletter-signupYou will find my website with more information and free resources hereYou can follow me on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/thehealthdetectivenz

No matter what may be happening in the world, it is always a time of opportunity. Old ways are ending. New possibilities are appearing. And what can emerge in these times we are in seems, in a sense, infinite. In this far-reaching conversation, Aviv invites Jeff Vander Clute to reflect on where we've been, where we are, how we can ask the right questions, and how we can thrive as we unfold, consciously, into the next chapter. Join us for Thriving Now with Jeff Vander Clute. KEY TAKEAWAYS 02:13 – Jeff Vander Clute joins the show to share keys for thriving in the new pattern he's observed 14:07 – Aviv presents Five Threads to express a unique experience he had at a recent weekend workshop 27:57 – The two different energy centers of love 34:06 – The importance of self-alignment practices 48:43 – Enlightened living and Aviv's personal transformation 1:04:35 – Aviv speaks to the history and influence of religion 1:16:44 – Different evolutionary cycles 1:20:26 – Aviv ends with one final thought-provoking inquiry TWEETABLE QUOTES “We can let go of the idea of the starving artist, we can let go of the ideas that you can't be spiritual and prosperous. This really is a new time. And I would say that the new economy that's also emerging, and we can't see it fully yet - although if you look at the grassroots, you see it more clearly - is an economy of many to many connections. Is an economy that is distributed, decentralized, radically inclusive.” (06:37) (Jeff)“So in the business world, I would encourage people that ‘How' leads you to tactic, ‘What' leads you to strategy, and ‘Why' leads you to purpose.” (37:24) (Aviv)“I wanted to cede, maybe for future conversation, the word infinitization because I've noticed that what's happening is, pretty much wherever I look and am having conversations with other people who are looking closely and inquiring deeply into the real nature of things, what we thought was finite is infinite. So money is actually infinite curiously enough because our economies are based on the notion of scarcity, either real or artificially imposed. So, when we look at the twenty-one ways we are trained to take big things and make them small, I think in terms of all the ways in which we try to take the infinite, all, and turn it into something bite-sized and somehow separate so that we can analyze and distinguish one thing from another as if they're two things.” (50:30) (Jeff)“When we look at the headlines we might think the world is going to hell in a handbasket, but maybe we're just entering into the next cycle. But the beginning of the cycle is a cycle - or a sub cycle - of conflict and working it out, hopefully with much less tumultuousness and violence compared to the past.” (1:17:38) (Jeff)“If the new emerging operating system is to be true, it will have to include all of it. If it cannot include all of it, it simply is a flawed operating system. How do we include all of it and remain safe for ourselves and for each other and give permission for an ecosystem that is not just sustainable, but is regenerative and will bring to light the new possibilities of tomorrow?” (1:20:26) (Aviv) RESOURCES MENTIONED Portals of Perception WebsiteAviv's LinkedIn Aviv's TwitterAviv's WebsiteJeff's LinkedIn

What does This Fresh NOW offer us? If we let go of what was intended, what might arise Fresh Now? https://emotionalfreedom.love/
How might each of us individually re-fashion our efforts… and life flow… to bring more emotional strength and resilience? What as a community can we TRY during these times that supports the emotional well-being of at least a few other people, both inside and outside our home? https://emotionalfreedom.love/
It’s REALLY okay right now to Keep It Super Simple… wherever you can. And I know that can be REALLY hard! My brain makes anything complex without me even trying! I include three super simple tips. https://emotionalfreedom.love/
Ideas spread. Virally even. The specific ideas we want to help craft and co-create our culture going forward need conscious spreading AND cultivation. I invite you today… and for the rest of our days… Spread Ideas That Matter. After all… We’re In This Together. https://emotionalfreedom.love/
During this global spreading of coronavirus (COVID-19) and all the fear and uncertainty and panic that comes along with it, the way you show up for your heart and with your heart will make a difference. Perhaps ALL the difference. Please do tend to your heart. Feel its feels. Share its truths and its loving heartistry with those who matter to you. https://emotionalfreedom.love/
Have you ever found yourself in an argument you didn’t want? One where whether you were “winning” or “losing” it was damaging the relationship. What typically happens? The battle keeps going, of course! Wouldn’t it be great if we could press a big PAUSE button? But where’s the pause button when you need it?!? https://emotionalfreedom.love/
What do we call it when we can’t do what some other human can? We call it a WEAKNESS. It’s also considered a defect, a flaw, a deficiency, a fault, and an imperfection. Or it’s a failing, shortcoming, inadequacy, lack, weak spot, limitation, blemish, disadvantage, and even a failure. What if instead… we cultivated our Gifts and accepted our Gaps? https://emotionalfreedom.love/
Tender-hearted people often carry the scars and bruises from blaming and shaming, especially from “friends” and “loved ones” and “authorities.” Fault-finding warps our sense of what is ours and what is theirs and what is the Divine’s. We end up with an Inner Critic instead of an Inner Buddy. And that CAN be shifted. https://emotionalfreedom.love/

Primal hierarchy is embedded in our culture and our brains. Rather than seeking status and power and control over others (and protecting and avoiding people who want to boss us around), what happens when we experience the “shared heart” of a well-tuned circle… where people join their power WITH each other to bring mutual relief, support, co-creation, and emotional freedom for all? https://emotionalfreedom.love/

“Stick and Stones will break my bones, but Names will never hurt me!” Such utter crap. When we’re not physically or emotionally safe around other humans in our spaces, we mal-adapt—a fancy way of saying it messes us up by forcing us to figure out ways to survive. But mal-adapting shuts down imagination, generosity, and authentic kindness and respect. You’re invited to help change the emotional world for yourself and for beautiful beings like The Boy with the French Braids. https://emotionalfreedom.love/

33% off Pain Relief Miracle Fear is one of our most primitive defense mechanisms. It is the reason that humans as a species exist. Our ability to notice danger and to feel are what keep us safe. The problem is that we don't live in the same world we did 10,000 years ago. We no longer need to be on guard at all times for fear of being eaten by wild animals. The way we feel fear has not evolved to match the world we live in. Because of this, our subconscious disposition is towards fear. This makes openness, connection, and love harder. This week I have a conversation with Rick Wilkes about fear, love, the primitive brain, and how we can use EFT to transform our daily experience to be filled with more love and more connection. Guest: Rick Wilkes, LMT Contact Info: thrivingnow.com, Rick@Thrivingnow.com, 1-828-357-4674 or 1-888-222-3856 Bio: Rick Wilkes is an EFT practitioner based in Asheville, NC. Over the last six years Rick has worked with more than 1500 clients. He works regularly with individuals and with his Thriving Now Groups. Here's what one of Rick's loyal clients says: “Working with Rick Wilkes both privately and on team calls has helped me greatly to release the past, move more confidently into the future, and mostly to be more joyfully present in the now. Rick’s open-hearted broader perspective, amazing intuition, and great sense of humor always help me to get right to the core and effectively reframe whatever issue I have. Listening to him work with others has helped me to get in touch with stuff I didn’t even know was there and inspired me in my own work with others. It is a blessing and honor to work with such a master.” Rick's articles, programs, and products Thriving Now
