With the year coming to a close, it made sense for Jonathan and Corey to try and catch up on any movies released in 2018 that they missed but wanted to see. As per usual, they take turns choosing the movies each week. Jonathan missed Three Identical Strangers (2018) at this years Florida Film Festival and has been trying to not have the film spoiled ever since. For the most part, that goal has been unsuccessful, but he figures it is better late than never. Corey also hadn't seen this film so it'll be a check on both of their lists. The documentary is directed by Tim Wardle and the plot summary from IMDb.com reads, "In 1980 New York, three young men who were all adopted meet each other and find out they're triplets who were separated at birth. Then they discover why." If you're new to the podcast, Corey (@coreyrstarr) and Jonathan (@berkreviews) both realized they had a ton of movies they'd never seen, but really wanted to knock off their gap list. In an effort to work through their respective lists, they started this podcast to ensure they at least check one new film off the list almost every week. WHAT A SHOCKER! We just dropped a surprise episode 39! We take a brief distraction from Herzog month, so that Bob Sham and Angela can discuss a film that is viewable in theaters hopefully near you. We watched Tim Wardle's unbelievable documentary "Three Identical Strangers" and you gotta see it to believe it. A young man goes to college only to find himself in front of someone who looks exactly like him. Then another guy shows up and he looks exactly like those other two guys. It's amazing but also how the hell did this happen? The reasons why are shocking to say the least. Check this tale out in the theaters, and also hear us blab about it on this episode you're reading about right now. Keep on Doccin'®.

It's another edition of Midday at the Movies, and our favorite movie mavens -- Jed Dietz, founding director of the Maryland Film Festival and Ann Hornaday, film critic for the Washington Post -- join Tom to spotlight film industry trends and some hot new releases. One of the flicks they'll talk about today is the new documentary, Three Identical Strangers, by director Tim Wardle. It tells the story of three identical triplets who were separated at birth but who find each other coincidentally as young men, and who then discover the dark truth of why they were separated. Jed and Ann offer very different takes on the latest Joaquin Phoenix vehicle, director Gus Van Sant's Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot, based on the cartoonist John Callahan's memoir of his struggle with alcoholism and the aftermath of a near-fatal car wreck. And Tom asks Ann and Jed about the latest run of films that explore the Daddy-Daughter relationship, a theme that's been a mainstay of Hollywood movies for decades.

on this episode of Compelled, we take a look at three identical stranges, the story of triplets that were separated at birth and learned about each other's existence through circumstance and the fallout that happened because of it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ThreeIdenticalStrangers Three Identical Strangers is a 2018 documentary film directed by British filmmaker Tim Wardle examining the lives of a set of triplets who were separated at a young age and adopted by three separate families, with the adopting families not being informed that each child had brothers, and with the separations being done as part of a scientific experiment to track the development of triplets raised in differing circumstances. The documentary reveals how the brothers discovered each other at age 19, and thereafter sought to discover the circumstances of their separation.[1] The three brothers were born to a single mother in 1961, and were separated at the direction of psychologist Peter B. Neubauer, and intentionally placed in homes with different economic classes, one blue collar, one middle class, and one upper class. They were raised by their respective adoptive families as David Kellman, Bobby Shafran and Eddy Galland.[2] They discovered each other by chance in 1980, and thereafter became very close, but all three had struggled with depression throughout their lives, which ultimately led to Galland's suicide in 1995.[2] The film premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival,[3] where it won the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Storytelling.[4] https://www.acoupleofaveragejoes.com/ https://www.patreon.com/acoupleofaveragejoes
