Lisa Law's still, movie and video images have chronicled decades of social and cultural changes in America. And her film, ‘Flashing On The Sixties,' was described by actor-director Dennis Hopper as “the most compelling, moving documentary of the Sixties”. In 1966, Lisa and her husband resided in the renowned "Castle" in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, a hub that welcomed numerous prominent musicians, including Bob Dylan. She shares stories from Dylan's stay and offers her perspective on the recent film, A Complete Unknown. Lisa was also part of the Hog Farm commune, and they were tasked with keeping the peace at Woodstock ‘69. Yet, her efforts at the festival were integral to its success - from managing the trip tents to mobilizing members of the Hog Farm and other festival goers so that they were able to feed over 200,000 people! She also played a role in the organization of Woodstock '99, and was featured in the recent Netflix documentary, "Trainwreck: Woodstock '99." In our discussion, we explore the stark contrasts between the two festivals and how insights from '69 might have prevented the latter's challenges. Lisa was there for all the seminal pop culture moments of the 1960s, capturing them with her beautiful photos. And she's one of the very few people that can say she's been to all 3 Woodstock festivals! On this week's episode of Missin Curfew, the boys are back with a rundown of all things hockey and more. Coming off Cinco de Mayo, Obs had some fun at the Big Canyon fiesta, while Updogg took in game 2 of the Vegas-Edmonton series from the second row of T-Mobile Arena. With the news about about Gabriel Landeskog's injury dropping shortly before the recording, the fellas each had some feelings to express. The conversation then takes a wild turn as they discuss Trainwreck Woodstock 99', a documentary on Netflix which covers the chaos that ensued during the festival. In the AHL, Obs has a shout for Chase De Leo who won Man of the Year. And they take a trip down memory lane, comparing this year's Team Canada roster in the World Championship to the one Uppy played on in 2009. Curfew Calls features a loyal listener sticking up for the Updogg in one of the most legendary calls to date. Then getting into NHL news, they discuss the recent NHL Draft Lottery with the Chicago Blackhawks getting the #1 pick, Gerard Gallant's firing, and the finalist announcement of some NHL Awards. In addition to going into all 4 second round playoff series', the fellas give out some beers to guys doing some f*cking, and place a few others on the milk carton for their lack of performance. Tune in for another entertaining and informative episode of Missin Curfew, full of predictions, laughs, off-ice antics and more!

Right Here, Right Now represents a beginning and an end. As director Jak Hutchcraft tells Matthew Sherwood, the film is his directorial debut. A concert, like the one that forms the film's subject, however, will likely never be repeated in the UK again. The year is 2002. Superstar DJ Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook) has decided to put on a free concert at Brighton beach. The authorities expected “around 50,000 people to attend” explains Jak. On the day, however, 250,000 fans crowd onto the beach. The police are overwhelmed. On a hot summer's day, the concert is surely heading for disaster. In the event, though, there are a total of just six arrests and one death – a tragic accident after the event. Matthew and Jak discuss how Cook went from being a member of 80s pop band, The Housemartins, to being a DJ, and one of the biggest stars not only in the UK, but also America. They discuss his musical genius, looking at one of Cook's most famous songs, Rockefeller Skank. At the heart of their conversation, however, is the free concert on Brighton beach: how it nearly didn't happen, the trauma it caused those tasked with policing it, and the impact it had on Brighton and Brightonians – an impact that is still being felt today. Matthew discovers that Jak used to be a youth worker. Redundancy made him look at where his career was going – where he wanted it to go. Ultimately, his questioning brought him to Right Here, Right Now, and the concert of a lifetime. Watch the episode at https://factualamerica.com “[Fatboy Slim's free concert] changed people's lives... It changed dance culture and club culture and electronic music. It changed that forever, especially in the UK, [as well as] perceptions of our DJs and what they can do.” – Jak Hutchcraft Resources: Right here, Right now The MovieMaker Podcast Innersound Audio Alamo Pictures Connect with Jak Hutchcraft Website Twitter Instagram Connect with Matthew Sherwood: Facebook LinkedIn Twitter Connect with Factual America: Facebook Instagram Twitter More from Factual America: Trainwreck: Woodstock '99 – The Perfect Storm Moonage Daydream: The Spectacular Life and Times of David Bowie Spector – A Legend, and A Murderer

One of Rebecca's favorites of 2022, we're replaying her interview with "Trainwreck: Woodstock '99" director Jamie Crawford and producer Cassie Thornton. Organizers from the original Woodstock tried to recreate the music and magic at a new three-day festival in 1999. But concert-goers expecting another groovy weekend were met with high food prices, dirty water, and mountains of litter. And promoters learned too late their audience wasn't filled with 60s flower children; they'd drawn an army of rowdy thrash-rock fans who showed their displeasure by - literally - burning it all down.
Don't worry, this one ends with ANONYMOUS RUINING THIS GUY'S LIFE. Anyway...In 2010, a 24 year old man named Hunter Moore launched the website IsAnyoneUp.com. The site was built to allow people to anonymously post nude photos of other people and connect those photos to the person's social media profiles and, in many cases, home addresses. It was the birth of what "Revenge Porn." But Moore, went one step further, HACKING INTO PEOPLE'S EMAILS to steal their nude photos and then posting them on the site without the subject's knowledge or consent. This is the story of how ONE MOTHER took the whole thing down. FAMMMM!! OBSESSED FEST '23 TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE!! Obsessed Fest '23 is happening in Dallas, TX From October 20 - 22nd. Ash and Michelle take down the intensity a notch with this week's episode. Models on yachts sipping champaign on what was once Pablo Escobar's island... influencers, delicious food, luxury accommodations, beautiful art and amazing music in the Bahamas. That's what was promised if you bought a ticket to 2017's Fyre Festival, tickets that went for well into the thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. What festival goers got was the opposite of the experience that they had dreamed of and been promised- basically 24 hours in hell. -Crave more stories of feisty festivals? Next up on You Can't Make This Up, we are talking about the Netflix documentary series “Trainwreck: Woodstock '99." The original 1969 concert promised peace and music, but its 1999 revival delivered three days of rage, riots and real harm.In our next episode, host Rebecca Lavoie interviews director Jamie Crawford and producer Cassie Thornton. If you haven't watched "Trainwreck: Woodstock '99," make sure to add it to your watch-list before next week's episode. Stay Tuned!
Jennie and Amye, sisters and Gen Xers, sit down and discuss the 2022 Netflix Docuseries, Trainwreck: Woodstock '99.In the summer of 1999, while Jennie and Amye were off being poor and lame, 250,000 kids attended what promoters hoped would be an historic once-in-a-generation concert: Woodstock 99. This three-part docuseries exposes poor planning, willful ignorance, and an amazing amount of hubris on the part of (mostly) two men: Michael Lang and John Scher, aka Darth Vader. This was the perfect display of a generational clash between Gen X and Boomers. In the end, a hologram of Jimi Hendrix played as Rome burned. For MORE content, become a Premium Patreon Subscriber!
