Tom Fuller is the co-founder of Image Design Custom and, the man behind the paint on some of the most iconic helmets in two-wheel sports. From Red Bull Rampage and the UCI World Cup, to motocross legends and movie stars like Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill, his work has quietly shaped the visual identity of action sports for decades. In this episode, Tom joins us to share his journey from painting helmets in his dad's garage as a teenager to running Image Design Custom, the UK's leading custom paint house. We cover how a single airbrush sparked a lifelong obsession, getting his big break with Red Bull, painting 21,000 phone cases a day for Nokia, and why helmet design is still all about the details. Torq Moto returns! Tom Fuller joins DocWob and ‘Jeffro' Perrett for the first episode of 2025 for more ‘pub bar style' chat as the three discuss Tom's love for motocross and how it's steered him on a path to becoming one of the best and most respected helmet sprayers in the business. In this first episode, the trio discuss Tom's early years, from how he got into the sport following in his dad's footsteps to watching three-time World 500cc champion Dave Thorpe regularly getting training motos in just a stone's throw away from his home near the Old Dean in Camberley, and how it inspired him and drew him further into the sport. Tom talks with great affection about getting his first motorcycle along with his brother Toby and getting going in the sport and how that led him on to racing the British four-stroke championship in the late 90s and 00s and setting up his own team with his good friend Stacey Harman.More reminiscing continues when the subject turns to Moto Magazine, where all three of them played their part in shaking up the establishment and bringing the magazine to life. Tom discusses his photographic heroes, and of course, there are some tales from back in the day, notably the parties that quickly became legendary at the Dirt Bike Show at Stoneleigh.
Torq Moto is back! After a Christmas and ‘off-season' winter break, Torq Moto returns this Thursday with the first of two episodes with guest Tom Fuller.Tom joins Doc Wobs and ‘Jeffro' Perrett for the first episode of 2025 for more ‘pub bar style' chat as the three discuss Tom's love for motocross and how it's steered him on a path to becoming one of the best and most respected helmet sprayers in the business. More reminiscing continues in full flow when they get on to the subject of Moto Magazine from back in the day where all three of them played their part in shaking up the establishment and bringing the magazine to life, with Tom as a contributing photographer and writer and Wobs and Jeffro as editors. Tom discusses his photographic heroes and of course, there's some tales of the Moto Mag days, notably the parties that quickly became legendary at the Dirt Bike Show at Stoneleigh. In episode two to follow, Tom goes into more detail on the process of spraying and designing helmets, what his 'Image Design Custom' company deliver and there's the inevitable discussion about MX fashion and kit design where opinions vary.
On this episode of the SoulScape Celebrations podcast, host Paul – D. Lowe, International Celebrant –talks to Tom Fuller about their and our father’s lives. KEY TAKEAWAYS I was a very lucky child and a lucky man. I feel blessed when I listen to others that didn’t have the upbringing that I did. Not that I’d say it was the best ever, but I’m certainly grateful for my Dad, Anthony (Tony), bringing me up the way he did. I try to do the best I can from what Dad taught me, the Ps and Qs, it doesn’t cost anything to say thank you, be respectful to people. You can also look at some of the things you didn’t agree with and decide not to go down that road. Not everything that comes out of their mouth is 100% correct. When Dad passed, I wanted to give him a really good send off with a celebration of his life, passions and personality. As a customer painter I had a unique opportunity to design and paint his coffin. It was one of the most emotional days of my life, but one of the most rewarding as well. BEST MOMENTS ‘Dad’s love was just as powerful as Mum’s.’ ‘Being a teenager you’re trying to find your feet, but 99% of the time when I look back at it I realise he was right. But that means that 10% of the time I was right.’ ‘You can’t choose your family, I know some people who get on with other people’s families more than their own. There’s no rules.’ ABOUT THE GUEST Tom Fuller’s career started way back in the late 80's when fluorescent colours ruled and mullets were in fashion. Fast forwards a few decades and in 2007, Tom & Steve officially launched Image Design Custom and he hasn't looked back since. ABOUT THE HOST Despite a painful, traumatic childhood, Paul D. Lowe has found inner peace and now dedicates himself to honouring the journeys of others. The Everyday Sniper Podcast: New Training Seasons Starts Now Spring is in the air, and we are getting ready to kick off the 2024 Training Season. This week is our first official class combining RifleKraft and Sniper's Hide. We have a 3 day course planned for Friday that will focus on the Fundamentals in both the Prone and with a Tripod. Last week I ventured to Buena Vista Georgia to visit Tom Fuller at Armageddon Gear. He hosted a pre-Match and BBQ for the International Sniper Competition Teams at his place. What a fun event, like a picnic with Shooting. I had a blast with all the International Teams and US Cadre. Tom plans to be make this bigger and better and Sniper's Hide Plans to be there. Training Links Gravity Ballistics is doing awesome, people are enjoying the simplicity of the App, and the accuracy of the numbers, so if you have not downloaded Gravity Ballistics give it a try. If you are not sure Gravity Ballistics will work, download the worksheet and try it manually first. The App compared to the worksheet is icing on the cake. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, thanks for being a part of the everyday sniper podcast.
